THORN

A magazine celebrating the English Rose - and the thorn in her side. THORN is everything British - traditional, glamorous and patriotic but

also irreverant, seductive and rebellious. THORN’s girl takes Pret-a-Porteá at The Wolsey, and imagines she is Nancy Cunard in the

Twenties, Vivienne Westwood in the Seventies or Daphne Guinness in the Noughties; a cacophony of British influences and style.

Burberry Prorsum returned to show at London Fashion Week this season, and in turn brought with them their new interpretation of the classic trenchcoat. Gorgeously draped fabrics in neutral and ice-cream hues reigned surpreme at Burberry, and along with a handful of other designers , showed London how versatile the trench can be this season.

Underwear has never been hotter. Bra tops and corsets were seen in all 4 cities this fashion season, but we think London and Twenty8Twelve did the best interpretation for the THORN girl. Worn casually with denim and sheer shirts, it was East London meets Madonna. Nicole Fahri showed us casual bandeau tops with neutral accompanying pieces and Antonio Berardi showed us the chic way to wear corsets for night time.

DEFENCE MECHANISM

Protection is a highly important factor in the design of sportswear, be it in shape or fabric. This season, tribes inspire us with modular armour, jewel tones, and offer protection solutions. DEFENCE MECHANISM is a key trend in luxury sportswear for Spring/Summer 2010, as we look for body armour in our increasingly active lives, and adorn ourselves with sharper shapes, protective fabrics and rich colours for a healthier lifestyle.
