Inspired by the works of G. F. Handel, in particularZadok the Priest and the Hallelujah Chorus, the text traces athousand years of the British monarchy, from William theConqueror to Queen Elizabeth II. Zadok Rules – Hallelujah! Start with the NORMANS: Willie, Willie, Henry, Stee, Henry Two was a PLANTAGENET, Dick, John, Henry Three; One and two and three King Edwards; next came Richard Two. LANCASTER was next with Henrys Four, Five, Six … then who? (Nearly time for Hen-e-ry the Eighth, But there’s still half a century to wait!) YORK: Two more Edwards, then along came Dick the Bad, buried in a car park! TUDOR: Henrys Sev’n and Eight … Then (briefly) Ned the Lad. Bloody Mary and Queen Bessie … Then came Scottish Jim, STUART Charles the First was next, but … they beheaded him! Charlie the Second; brother Jim was soon thrown out, Bill and Mary reigned together … Poor Queen Anne had gout. (When Britain first at Heav’n’s command Arose from out the azure main, Arose, arose, arose from out the azure main, This was the charter, the charter of the land, And guardian angels sang this strain:)

Water Music, Oratorios, The Royal Fireworks Music, The Queen of Sheba, Over forty operas, Messiah, Coronation, Coronation Anthems: Zadok the Priest and Nathan the Prophet anointed Solomon King.
