Talking with growers, Ontario will be done in about two weeks. Mexican and Israel have both started. Heirloom carrots continue with just fair quality and steady supplies. MUSHROOMS- Mushrooms continue to be short; especially buttons. Growers are all battling production issues and an overall increase in demand. POTATO – Large #1 chefs continue to be in good supply. Good quality Yukon Golds are very tight. There is a severe issue with hollow heart in Yukon Golds in Ontario, Quebec and Michigan. CABBAGE – Green, savoy and red cabbage continue with very light supplies and pricing that continues to rise. Transition to imported product will start very early this year. ENGLISH CUCUMBERS – Local production continues to improve. Production will be very strong through April. Expect the market to continue at these very low levels. APPLES – The Ontario apple season continues with McIntosh and Empires in light supply. Prices are elevated due to short supplies in Washington and good export demand. HOTHOUSE LETTUCE - Hydroponic Salanova supplies are good with very good quality. Hydroponic boston supplies are much better with very good quality. Avocado: Demand has gotten stronger with an active market. The pipeline has cleaned up as we are seeing less fruit at the border. There is plenty of fruit on the trees, this is Mexico slowing down the harvest to control the market with California having light offerings. Green Grapes: Supplies of green grapes will lighten up starting in the next 2 weeks and will be a challenge for the remainder of the import season. Limes: Fewer inbounds coming from Mexico and rain in the growing regions with high demand has kept market prices very high. Apples: We are experiencing extremely limited supplies of Granny Smith and Golden Delicious apples. Food service sizes (125ct, 138ct) are getting harder to come by. The market is extremely active. • POTATOES CANADIAN - Canada’s March 1 table potato stocks are down 15.6% from last year. That is resulting in extremely high prices.

• ONIONS Demand has eased with improved supplies of domestic and Mexican onions in Texas.

• LIMESGood volume and supply on large 110 count limes and 150 count limes but, as we transition into the new crop of limes, the sizing will shift to smaller fruit like 230 and 250 count.

• LETTUCES ICEBERG - Market is slightly down. All value-added products have returned to normal pricing. There is a pricing gap among the multiple shippers in the growing regions. The quality continues to be hit and miss. Defects being reported to include ribbing, mechanical, mildew, and puffiness.ROMAINE / LEAF - Early reports from Huron are mixed but the overall assessment is that, due to the heavy rains and subsequent planting delays during the first two months of this year, there will be intermittent gaps in supply expected over the next 4-6 weeks.SPRING MIX, SPINACH & BABY KALEThe baby leaf market continues to be steady on spring mix, baby kale, baby spinach, and cello spinach. Quality is good.ROCKET ARUGULA / WATERCRESSBaby arugula supplies are meeting current demand. Bunched watercress, Red watercress and baby kale are available.

• APPLESExtremely limited supplies of Granny Smith and Golden Delicious apples. Food service sizes (125ct, 138ct) are getting harder to come by. Chilean imported Galas are set to arrive in 1-2 weeks.

• BRUSSELS SPROUTS The quality has been affected by the rain and cold weather. Look for the brussels sprout market to remain tight.

• CELERY Supplies remain extremely limited and markets are at historical high prices. Demand exceeds supplies. Triggered pricing is in place on contracts as well as with value added items.

• CORNCorn is readily available with good volume and quality available.

• AVOCADOSDespite strong harvest from Mexico the demand continues to out pace supply. Market conditions remain very strong across all sizes with no real change expected. • GOLD PINEAPPLES

Quality is reported as good, with solid 13+ brix reported at the farm.

• MELONCANTALOUPES - The market on cantaloupes is steady and seeing a good supply on larger fruit. Guatemala, Honduras and Costa Rica are all exporting excellent quality fruit with good brix levels ranging from 11-14%.HONEYDEWS - Steady supplies will remain over the next 14-21 days which will keep the market in a steady price range.

• TOMATOES EAST - Overall the quality is very good and now, supply exceeds demand. Markets are forecasted to remain stable through the Easter Holiday.WEST - Tomatoes across all categories are widely available and quality is reported to be very good. As with Florida, markets are forecasted to remain stable through the Easter holiday barring any major weather event.

• STONE FRUIT Chilean stone fruit supplies remain fairly consistent but limited on size. Market prices have been flat. All varieties are heavy on the large size.

• ASPARAGUSMarkets on both coasts are lower due to less demand and good supplies.

• CAULIFLOWER Cauliflower has started to become tight as suppliers are hitting a gap. The quality is good with minor bruising and yellow cast.

• MANGOESWith demand continuing to exceed supply on the Haden mangos, pricing is expected to remain firm.

• PEARSAvailability on Washington D’Anjou, Red D’Anjou, and Bosc remains steady.

• GRAPEFRUIT The Florida and Teas grapefruit season is winding down. Internal and external color is nice with high brix. Product is peaking on 48/56 count.

• PEPPERS EAST - Pepper supply is not plentiful, demand has been very slow for the month of March, retail prices have been escalated and orders have shrunk.WEST - Good supplies of serrano, jalapeños, green, and red pepper.

• CITRUS - LEMONSExpect limited availability in 165’s/200’s/235’s moving forward. Prices are looking to remain steady on the smaller sized choice and fancy fruit.

• GREEN ONIONS The green onion market will continue to be steady with the cold weather causing occasional leaf minor and mechanical damage.

• BEANSGreen bean is steady at normal levels. Wax (yellow) beans are now available as supplies increase. Snipped orders are available.

• BROCCOLI Availability and markets will remain volatile until June due to planting gaps over the past 2 months, caused by the rain. Volume will continue to vary week to week.

• CUCUMBERS EAST - Expect steady supplies for the next few weeks. WEST - The cucumber market has stabilized and is expected to remain steady through the remainder of the week. Quality is good.

• WATERMELON Supplies are tight on seedless watermelons. Offshore melons are going as well with good supplies. Florida has started but with very light volume.

• ORANGES Navels - Good supplies starting off the week on navels, with plenty of volume to promote on most sizes. Supply is peaking on 72/88/113 count. For Cara Cara, supply currently exceeds demand with slightly depressed markets.

• BERRIES BLUEBERRIESLook for the market to increase slightly through the end of the week. Quality on leftover imports is fair at best. Florida and Central California quality is nice.RASPBERRIESRaspberries are in moderate supplies with some shortages being reported due to weather and transportation difficulties.BLACKBERRIESThe market is steady and quality is reported to be good.STRAWBERRIESStrawberries continue to be in high demand with California now being the primary source for shipping. Quality is good.

• ZUCCHINI EAST - Zucchini supplies are good for now. Quality has been good on green and getting better on yellow.WEST - Volume is decreasing from this growing region on both varieties as we head into the month of April.

• GRAPES GREEN & RED - Expect April to be extremely difficult on all green seedless varieties, with a likely gap on green grapes until Mexico can start in early May.
