RALF ARZTRalf Arzt was born in Stockholm 1963. Arzt has exhibited extensively in Europe and is represented by a number of galleries worldwide. Beauty, although a prominent theme present in all his work, it is the sense of the mystical and faintly melancholic that is more subtly evoked. His aim is to paint in a realistic style, but not more than is necessary. He

painterly realism with the expression and charm of a painting. Pushing a picture to just beyond photo-realism for him is crucial.

LUIGI BENEDICENTILuigi Benedicenti was born in Turin in 1948. Benedicenti’s style is clear, immediate and is the result of years of intense study and tireless practice. His work is deeply rooted in the still-life tradition that sprouted in the 16th Century, yet with a strong independent personality, having deeply meditated on the works from this era and absorbed the symbolic value, he has moved away from this genre and has invented his own unique style of ‘Extreme Realism’.

NEIL DOUGLASThe ‘urban landscape’ features throughout Neil Douglas’s paintings, either as a backdrop or a focal point. He is fascinated by the city, by the textures and forms found in architecture as well as the varying

in his painting process and especially in his use of mixed media. He applies a variety of materials such as plaster and clay to build up different areas of texture. In doing this he explores the way colour reacts to the surface, how the grain of the medium alters the mark making process, to create different degrees of realism.

RADO KIROVRado Kirov, following years of experience in working with various different metals has developed a unique technique of manipulating a sheet of stainless steel by hand, using the inherent physical properties of the metal, to create a striking three-dimensional surface that dynamically mirrors its surroundings and draws the observer into the

Steve McGinn’s work follows the basics of form, colour and composition. Each form is a theme and each colour a unique variation within. The forms are enlarged accurate copies of smaller random resin spills

necessarily obvious. As a sculptor his work had been more about the tangible but now using colour and the intensity that it brings as well as a freeing up of compositional boundaries, it allows him to explore differences between working with chance and control.

JUAN BAUTISTA NIETONieto’s work presents an exaggerated obsession with recreating a reality, which reaches beyond the precise representation of a photo-graph. He transcends the theme and concept of hyper-realism using it as a vehicle to take us onto another level wherein he achieves an extraordinary kind of intensity, which paradoxically creates a distinct feeling of unreality.

BRIGITTE POLEMISUrban spaces inhabited by faceless men in suits arranged in rows, circular formations, spirals, or overlapping layers as repeated motifs: these are the key features in the new group of works presented by Brigitte Polemis under the title “Just a Number”. Yet,

dehumanisation of man in western industrialised societies, they seem however to strangely defy their ‘inhuman’ message, engaging the viewer in what one increasingly understands to be the imagery of the poetics of a world where man and machine have long been reconciled.
