According to Prof. Ogilvie, (the CanadianGovernment Surveyer) the Gold Belt of Alaskaand British America, covers one hundred thou-sand square miles.to transport freight and passengers; to locate, develop, and operate mines and mining proper-ties ; to purchase, sell and improve personal andreal estate, refine, smelt and assay the metals, and to carry on such other business as may bepertinent to its purposes. The future greatoperations of that country must be carried onthrough organization, aided by boats, pack ani-mals, hydraulics and machinery driven by steamand electricity. The supplying of these mustbe through capital, with carefully planned andthoroughly equipped expeditions directed by ex-perienced managers and operated by mining andengineering experts.

The expedition of this syndicate will leavethe Pacific coast in two sections during: March

The first section, composed of our Vice-President with mining experts and engineers, will cross the Chilkoot Pass, and descend therivers on the ice, prior to its breaking up.They will arrive in the gold fields two monthsahead of any expedition that can possibly reachDawson City by way of St. Michaels and theYukon River.

The second section, with prospectors, ma-chinery, tools, food, and other supplies of allkinds, will start from the Pacific coast by thewater route as early as the rivers are open tonavigation. The expedition will carry steamapparatus, adapted for thawing the perpetuallyfrozen gravels of the placer mines ; hoisting en-gines for taking the " pay dirt" out of theshafts ; portable saw mills to furnish lumber forcommercial purposes as well as for the use ofour own party ; an electric light plant to furnishlights for others as well as ourselves during thealmost perpetual night of Arctic winter, and allother mechanical and food supplies necessary forthe use of the syndicate, its mechanics and pros-pectors.

The management of this syndicate is in pos-session of private information of the greatestvalue, obtained from a veteran prospector whocannot return to the scenes of his discovery forreason of failing health. This gulch, whichhe has prospected is more than two hundredmiles from Dawson City, and is not worked orclaimed. Its distance from Dawson City willalmost certainly leave it unstaked till we reachits easily accessible banks where our informantwashed thousands of dollars of the purest goldand nuggets yet brought from the frozen north. We have organized and shall take, as a partof our expedition, a large party of prospectors, selected from our stockholders, who will be un-der contract to work solely in the interests of
