Section 01980 Particular Specification

Part F Sanitary Fixtures

A- NON-SECURITY SANITARY FIXTURES :

1. GENERAL:

The Contractor shall furnish and install all plumbing fixtures as indicated on the drawings and herein specified. For fixtures quantities, consult both sanitary and architectural drawings.

The following fixture specifications are taken from the current catalogues of well known fixture manufacturers and are intended to establish the general type and quality of the fixtures required. Similar fixtures of equal quality and merit manufactured by approved companies will be acceptable.

All exposed brass trim or plumbing fixtures shall be chromium plated where exposed piping emerges from the wall, each line shall have a chromium plated escutcheon to cover the wall opening.

Unless otherwise specified all supply fittings shall be provided with screw driver operated stops in the supply connections.

The outlet or direction of swing of all fixtures shall be checked with the plans and approved by the Engineer before ordering the fixtures, in many cases, left side or right side fixture is indicated or implied by the drawing. It shall be the Contractor's responsibility to see that such a fixture is supplied of correct type for the correct device.

The quantities of fixtures are indicated in the schedule of quantities and prices.

The contractor shall check the plans and furnish all fixtures shown and specified.

The rate of price for sanitary fixtures shall be per "lump sum" for each item complete as specified. The price rate shall include water (cold and hot) pipe branch (13 mm diameter) from the main supply lines, the connections to soil waste (100 or 75 mm diameter) and vent (50 mm diameter) branches with ABS/PP waste pipes.

2. FIXTURES REQUIRED:

2.1 European Water Closet (V.C.)

Furnish and install a complete fixture of water-closet with low-level cistern comprising: a) Water closet apparatus consisting of pan 'p' or 's' trap, made in white vitreous

china, syphonic pattern for a rapid flow of water from bowl charges the trappage and creates a powerful syphonic action which clears the contents of the bowl.

b) Flushing cistern nominally 2-2 litres low-level position valveless fittings with pottery syphon, sealing gasket and bolts for securing cistern to basin. The cover shall be white vitreous china.

c) Closet seat shall be in solid section plastic, of approved colour, fitted with hinged cover of the same material as the seat. The seat should be flat on the underside and fitted with three solid rubber buffers to avoid damage to the pan and to reduce noise.

Types to be as per detail drawing and list of recommended manufacturers.

2.2 Lavatory Basin (Mixture Valves)

Furnish and install a complete fixture of vitreous China lavatory basin, comprising: The lavatory basin made of coloured vitreous china, sound of good workmanship and

without manufacturing faults affecting utility. The glaze shall be uniform, non -grazing, free from discoloration and shall possess an impervious surface. The basin shall be of one piece construction, fitted with hole for waste (44 m diameter), tap holes, stud slots to receive the brackets on the underside, and overflow of horizontal dimension not larger than 63 mm.

Type 1 : Wall mounted types for private toilets similar to the model Existing in the list of manufacturers.

Type 2 : Under Counter type similar to model as existing in the list of manufacturers. Chain waste fitting with rubber plug, brass chain, jam nut Chromium plated.

a) Bottle trap 32 mm diameter with 75 mm water seal and adjustable inlet.

b) Two brackets, white porcelain enamelled iron for screw to wall. c) Combined taps (13 mm) with discharge nozzle, with chain waste,

chromium plated. 2.3 Urinal Wall Mounted

White colour vitreous china urinal wall mounted as per detail drawing. Inlet : Back inlet with concealed sparge pipe and compression

rubber fitting. Outlet : Two rubber connection seals are provided for a push on

connection with either 50mm on brass tube and 50mm I.D. PVC waste pipe tube.

Flushvalves : Integral air break allows for direct connection with mains pressure flushvalves and electronically activated valves.

Fixing : Urinal is fixed to the wall with the D.775 concealed bracket (supplied).

Brand & Origin : Europe or as per list of recommended manufacturers.

2.4 Asian Water Closet

Rectangular square closet, size is 600 x 450mm or as per detail drawings white color. Brand and Origin : Europe or equivalent approved as per list of manufacturer.

2.5 Handicap Toilet

Handicap toilet to include the following guide items and as per detail drawings.

A. Handicap wash basin

Position of the wall basin :The basin must be installed to provide a specified unobstructed circulation and free access space beneath it so that water supply pipes and waste trap fittings do not encroach into the required clear space.

Position of Tapware :For compliance to the standard the basin must be installed with lever or electronic type tapware.

Size : 500 x 440 mm (nominal or as per detail drawings.) Color : White Brand & Origin : Europe or Australia or as per list of manufacturer.

B. Water Closet

4.5/3 liter dual flush toilet suite with vitreous china wall faced box rim pan and invi si II smart flush cistern – inwall, induct or inceiling applications for people with disabilities. Installation complying to wc pan requirements to A.S. 1420-1. Color : White Brand & Origin : Europe/ Australia or equivalent list o f recommended manufacturer.

C. Handicap Grab Bar (Swing)

Finish to be stainless steel

Dimensions : 720mm or as per detail drawings Brand & Origin : Europe or as per list of recommended manufacturers.

D. Handicap Rear Wall Grab Bar

Finish to be stainless steel

Dimensions : 200mm or as per detail drawings Brand & Origin : Europe or as per list of recommended manufacturers.

2.6 Stainless Steel Sink :

Furnish and install a complete fixture of sink in stainless, comprising :

The S.S. sink shall be of the austenitic type, of a composition.

18% chrome, 5% nickle and 8% manganese, not less than 12 S.W.C. (1.02) thick, manufactured in one piece with or without combined drainers, in one piece with or without combined drainers, equipped with 38 mm threaded outlet, stainless steel chain, plug and overflow, provided, if required, with tap holes. The internal dimensions of sink bowls shall be 0.53 m length, 0.38 m width, 0.15 m depth and the overall sizes shall be as specified elsewhere.

The sink shall be mounted on two brackets, of white porcelain enamelled iron, build into wall.

The sink shall be provided with chain waste fitting, brass chromium plated bottle trap, 38 mm inlet, 76 mm water seal, supply fittings 20 mm with swivel nozzle, wall flanges, inlets through wall.

2.7 Cartridge Soap Dispenser

Chrome plated, satin finish door has plano hinge and lock "recessed mounted" capacity up to 1000 hand washers per cartridge.

2.8 Deck Mounted Soap Dispenser

Chrome plated, satin finish, Dimension is 58 x 285mm for counter top. Brand and Origin : Europe or as per list of recommended manufacturers

2.9 Paper Towel Dispenser

Shall be fabricated of stainless steel of 20 gauge type 304 with 25 mm side perimeter trim All doors shall be provided with a tumbler lock keyed alike, wall opening (30 x 40 x 11) cm approx. height 1.2 meter from bottom of unit to floor or as per detail drawings.

2.10 Electric Hand Dryer

Dryer shall be surface mounted one piece. The surface mounted dryer shall not protrude more than 4" (102 mm) from the wall and shall comply with ADAAG requirements. The motor shall be 1/4 HP 7500 RPM dual shaft brush type. The dryer shall have two blower housings, two fans and two totally enclosed heating elements.

The unit shall send 183 cubic feet per minute of warm air through two directional tamper-resistant air exits and be protected by automatic resetting thermal protection device. The unit shall have hands-free automatic stop/start infrared circuitry and self adjusting time and safe "off" protection, 230 V, 50 Hz size (25 x 35 x 10) cm, colour shall be approved by Engineer.

2.11 Open Towel Ring

Finish : Chrome plated Brand & Origin : Europe or as per list of recommended manufacturer.

2.12 Robe Hook

Finish : Chrome plated, dimension is 35mm. Brand & Origin : Europe or as per list recommended manufacturers.

SECURITY PLUMBING FIXTURES

PART 1 - GENERAL

1.01 RELATED DOCUMENTS

A. MECHANICAL, GENERAL and, PLUMBING sections apply to this section of these specifications.

1. Refer to 10 day prior approval requirements for substitutions of fixtures, fittings, valves, etc. as specified below.

1.02 GENERAL

A. Plumbing fixtures for the handicapped shall meet the requirements of ANSI Al 17.1 (1986) and the American Disabilities Act (ADA). This shall include plumbing faucets, valves, drains, drinking outlets, etc. Failure to meet these requirements shall require replacement of any items that do not meet these regulations.

Note: Rough flush valve for water closet with handle of valve to wide side of toilet stall to meet ADA guidelines. Refer to drawings as required.

B. Unless otherwise specified, all plumbing fixtures shall be the product of a single manufacturer. Fixtures are to be new, first quality, and in perfect condition, supplied complete with blanks for fittings omitted, supports, bolt caps, etc. as required by Architect. Metal parts to be chrome plated, including traps, nipples, and escutcheons.

C. Securely support by approved brackets, chairs, bolts, and metal expansion inserts. Where chases are provided or adjacent space in an undeveloped area use through bolts and heavy steel load distributing plate in addition to any other means specified.

PART2 - PRODUCTS

2.01 ESCUTCHEONS

A. Provide escutcheons for all exposed p-traps, supplies and flush valves. Escutcheons shall be polished chrome plated cast brass with set-screw for securing escutcheon. Provide deep escutcheons where required to conceal p-trap connections to drain piping below fixture.

B. Pot-metal residential grade escutcheons are not acceptable. Provide escutcheons as specified above. Failure to comply will require replacement of any and all pot metal escutcheons.

2.02 FIXTURES

A. Fixture stop valves shall be polished chrome plated, loose key stops, heavy cast brass construction and shall be installed with chrome plated brass threaded nipples. Sweat stops are not acceptable. Stop valves shall be McGuire, EBC or Zurn as listed below:

B. Fixture tailpieces, continuous wastes and drain outlets shall be minimum 17 gauge, polished chrome plated, unless otherwise specified. Exposed p-traps shall be polished chrome plated cast brass with chrome plated cast brass slip joint nuts and shall have cleanout plugs. C. Provide fixtures, faucets, stop valves, p-traps, escutcheons, as specified. Failure to comply will require replacement of any and all items that are not Engineer approved.

D. Plumbing fixtures specified are as manufactured by Kohler. Equal fixtures as manufactured by Eljer, American Standard or Crane will be accepted.

1. Wall hung cast iron lavatories by Commercial Enameling Company (CECO) will be accepted.

E. Faucets shall be by Chicago or equal by T&S Faucet as specified. Provide vandal resistant features on all faucets. Vandal features shall include hex socket screws for all handles, key operated aerators and abrasive washers for all single faucet shank fittings.

1. Provide water saving features (flow control aerators) as manufactured by Chicago, T&S or Omni. Flow control fittings shall be rated as follows:

Lavatories: 2.84 litres

Sinks: 7.57 litres

F. Electric water coolers shall be as manufactured by Oasis. Water coolers shall be furnished with stainless steel finish and chrome plated brass or stainless steel bubblers. Plastic bubblers or bubblers with flex mouthpieces will not be accepted. Equal water coolers by Halsey Taylor, Elkay or Sunroc ADA-8 will be accepted.

G. Janitors floor receptors specified are as manufactured by Stern Williams. Equal fixtures as manufactured by Fiat, Acorn, Florestone or Creative Industries will be accepted.

H. Penal shower valves shall be by Willoughby represented in the Gulf by Roots Group sal. Equal penal valves by Acorn, Metcraft or Bradley will be accepted. Penal shower valves shall be provided by manufacturer of penal shower fixture.

I. Sinks shall be by Just. Equal sinks by Elkay will be accepted.

J. Stainless steel penal combination toilet units and fixtures shall be by Willoughby. Equal penal units by Acorn, Metcraft, or Bradley will be accepted provided that ADA compliant penal unit shall be manufactured typical to Willoughby unit specified. Mixing of manufacturers of combination units and fixtures will not be permitted.

K. Toilet seats shall be by Beneke. Equal toilet seats by Bemis, Olsonite or Church will be accepted.

L. Flush Valves shall be by Sloan. Equal flush valves by Zurn or Delany will be accepted.

M. Furnish water closets with minimum 10.16cm closet flanges and 10.16cm closet carrier connections. The use of 7.62cm closet connections will not be permitted.

N. Insulation kits for handicapped lavatories with exposed p-traps and supplies shall be as manufactured by Truebro or Plumberex. Furnish insulation kits complete for both supply valves and p-trap. Insulation kits shall be grey. White insulation kits will not be accepted.

O. Chair carriers shall be as manufactured by Zurn. Equal carriers as manufactured by Josam, Wade, or J.R. Smith will be accepted. Contractor shall select chair carriers as required to suit fixture provided and job construction requirements. Provide chair carriers for all wall mountedfixtures.

1. Provide additional bearing plates for all wall mounted lavatory carriers to accommodate lock down lugs specified.

P. Cell chase waste fittings shall be as manufactured by Zurn. Equal cell chase fittings as manufactured by Charlotte Pipe, Wade, J.R. Smith or Josam will be accepted. Contractor shall select fittings as required to suit fixtures provided and job construction requirements.

P3 Handicapped Dual Electric Water Cooler; Oasis P8AMSL wall hung electric water cooler with stainless steel panels, (1) touchpad located on front of each unit and chrome plated brass or stainless steel bubbler. Secure both top and bottom of unit to chair carrier. Mount 91.44cm above finished floor to centerline of handicapped bubbler. Typical at building 10/13 and 11/14 Dayrooms.

P4 Penal Shower Fitting: Willoughby CWKS-PM1-RD corner mount front access wall panel type shower unit with integral soap dish, 16 ga type 304 stainless steel construction, adjustable self-closing metering valve, severe service shower head, flexible stainless steel braided hose connection and wall anchors. Installation shall be in strict accordance with manufacturer's instructions. Typical at all non-handicapped inmate showers.

P4A Handicapped Penal Shower Fitting: Willoughby CWKS-PM1-DV-RD-BF corner mount front access wall panel type shower unit with integral soap dish, 16 ga type 304 stainless steel construction, adjustable self-closing metering valve, severe service shower head, 206-H hand held shower head with hose, vacuum breaker and quick disconnect, shower head diverter valve, flexible stainless steel braided hose connection and wall anchors. Installation shall be in strict accordance with manufacturer's instructions. Typical at all handicapped inmate showers.

P5 Wall Hung Lavatory (Non-Security); See Section 01980 Part F (A) for Non-Security Plumbing Fixtures, or fixture by Kohler as follows will be acceptable. K-2849-W, 50.8cm x 45.72cm wall hung enameled cast iron lavatory with wall lock-down lugs at rear of fixture, 10.16cm centers, Chicago 802A-VPC mixing faucet with lever handles and vandal proofing, McGuire 155A grid drain. Mount 78.74cm above finished floor to rim.

P5A Handicapped Wall Hung Lavatory (Non-Security); See Section 01980 Part F (A) for Non-Security Plumbing Fixtures, or fixture by Kohler as follows will be acceptable. P9 Janitors Receptor; Stern-Williams HL-1910, 81.28cm x 81.28cm 30.48cm terrazzo floor sink with 15.24cm dropped front and stainless steel caps for all sides, Chicago 897-VPC polished chrome plated faucet, integral stops and vacuum breaker, T-35 hose and wall bracket and T-40 mop hanger. Locate mop hanger to permit mops to hang in mop receptor. Typical at all janitor rooms where fixture symbol is shown.

P10 Shower (Non-Security): Symmons Allura Shower System 4701-X-1.5, chrome finish. Provide with floor drain as specified by plumbing engineer. Typical for all staff showers.

HB Hose Bibb, Toilet; Chicago 293LK, polished chrome plated hose bibb with loose key operator and integral chrome plated vacuum breaker. Equal hose bibbs by Woodford, T&S Faucet or Mifab will be accepted. Mount 40.64cm above finished floor.

HBC Hose Bibb, Cell Chase; Hammond 2002, 1.27cm bronze hose bibb with tee handle and Watts 8A bronze vacuum breaker. Mount 40.64cm above finished floor.

PART 3 - EXECUTION

3.01 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING

A. Deliver, store, protect and handle products to site in accordance with specifications.

B. Accept fixtures on site in factory packaging. Inspect for damage. Protect installed fixtures from damage by securing areas and by leaving factory packaging in place to protect fixtures and prevent use.

3.02 FIELD MEASUREMENTS

A. Verify that field measurements are coordinated with all trades prior to installation of fixtures to prevent conflicts.

B. Confirm that millwork is constructed with adequate provision for the installation of countertop lavatories and sinks.

3.03 EXAMINATION

A. Verify that walls and floor finishes are prepared and ready for installation of fixtures.

B. Verify that electric power is available and of the correct characteristics. Coordinate all electrical requirements for Plumbing fixtures and equipment with Electrical of these specifications.

3.04 PREPARATION

A. Rough-in fixture piping connections in accordance with minimum sizes indicated in fixture rough-in schedule and specifications for each fixture. Do not rough-in mounting heights according to manufacturers cut sheets.

3.05 INSTALLATION

A. Install in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.

B. Install each fixture with trap, easily removable for servicing and cleaning.

C. Install components level and plumb.

D. Install and secure fixtures in place with concealed wall carriers and bolts.

E. Seal fixtures to wall/floor surfaces with sealant installed in a neat and workmanlike manner.

3.06 OPERATIONAL TESTS

A. Contractor shall operate each individual faucet and fixture, including flush valves, wall hydrants and hose bibbs prior to final acceptance.

B. Contractor shall repair and or replace any Plumbing items that are not working properly as required or damaged during installation.

C. Clean all debris, paint, stain or dirt from fixtures and equipment, aerators, floor drain strainers and bodies of floor drains and floor sinks.

3.07 SUBMITTALS
