The Byrnes Grocery Store was built in 1883 by the Byrnes

family in order to supply the Eckhart colTlllUnity with a general

store and has been in continuous operation ever since. The

original building is a frame structure consisting of one story

and a three bay wide rectangular shaped facade. The onlv

windows in the structure are the cormnercial displa;' lights lo-

cated on the northern facade. The main entrance is located

between the displa;· windows.

One metal chimney , which appears to be original, is located on the flush southern end of the building.

The store i~ structurally sound , but the originel ppe rane e has been so~ewhat altered by t.he uddition of the siding .
