Wisdom of the Month Help Others
The Prophet (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) said: “If the Hour (The day of resurrection) is about to be established and
one of you was holding a palm shoot, let him take advantage of even one second before the Hour is established to plant
it.”
Spring Mix Congratulations Alhamdulilah this year’s Spring Mix was a great success. The theme of Unity was
evident throughout the entire night as students showcased their talents to the community. Al-Hijra Academy is very
proud of the students for their hard work and dedication. May Allah SWT
increase the unity within our Ummah. We also would like to thank the parents
and teachers for their support to the students as they preformed. InshAllah
there will be a DVD available for parents with the Spring Mix program.

SPRING 2016 THE LOREM IPSUMS
What’s Grade 6 Up To? This year has been an exciting year that has gone by so quickly. As a class we have done so much together. Here are some of the highlights of our year.
The grade 6 class was fortunate to go to Point Pelee National Park where we participated in fun activities, and got to learn about the fauna and flora there. It was so exciting to walk along the
southernmost tip of Canada and to see the beautiful Lake Erie, the lush forests and wildflowers,
savannahs and marsh, and the colorful songs of birds was the perfect backdrop to pray Duhr salaah outdoors. We thank Allah SWT for these Blessings!
The top positions in the SPEECH CONTEST saw Grade 6 students take all the medals. First place Ayat Al Zaher, second place went to Zeina Salem and third place to Amanah Hussain. Well-‐done Girls!
Spring Mix was a fun time especially during rehearsals. The class agreed to incorporate the family, the sick and the old and Nature into the theme of the play. Thanks to Saad’s assistance with ideas for acting and dramatization we are sure our play would not go on. Zeina, Jenna and Tahoora you are great actors. Ayman Khatib we missed you.
Some of our Class Activities
First up was our Living Habitats project. Students got into groups to research local habitats, build a habitat of their own and then collect different insects and creatures and place them therein. We then observed the little characters; their feeding habits, movements, sleep habits and made notes for an oral presentation to the class. Students also put up their own TREE of ISLAMIC KNOWLEDGE. Habitat The tree was filled with everything beneficial of the tree.

SPRING 2016 THE LOREM IPSUMS What’s Grade 6 Up To? Next up was the House Building Project
The objective here was to establish where families interacted more closely. The girls finished off a beautiful big house with attractive paint colours, wall papering, flooring,
furniture and utensils that were all handmade mostly by Raabia and Vaneeza. The boys on the other hand build a simple home that was in keeping with the type of homes during the time of the Prophet SAW. Students listed the number of items in both home and the ratio of big to small was 987 : 1.we need to learn to stop hording and wasting.
Grade 6 has also presented short skits during Student of the Month Presentations.
Namely on Cooperation, Respect, Honesty and Responsibility. A big thank you to Muhammad Mustafa and Waseem Rahman for sharing cup cakes with us every time he is awarded student of the month. We are going to be third time lucky. A mini project we enjoyed was the Egg Drop Challenge. Again students got into groups and packaged an egg according to given dimensions, dropped the cushioned egg from a height and checked which eggs remained intact!
MashaAllah Hadia and Ayat are great packers. During an Art Lesson 2 groups, boys and girls, were given an hour to build bridges. We quickly put our ideas together and built 2 fantastic structures. Then Sr Mumtaz did the Tensile strength test and the load deformation curve said that the boys had build the stronger bridge. After bashing the bridge with tons of weight Abdullah Mohieddin’s team building was the winner but off course Jenna’s team bridge was prettier!
Air and Flight activities
The first round of air planes saw Saad Tabbara’s plane having most lift and thrust and fly the highest and the furthest but round 2 winner was Abdullah Mohieddin with a plane aesthetically and skillfully topping the points. Round 3 saw Ayat jump the best parachute.
Science Fair
Falah Shahid, Ayat Al-‐Zaher, and Hadia Malik made it to the Science Fair Regional’s, which was held at St. Clair College. We enjoyed an hour of mad science and pizza, and then came the results! We are proud to say that Falah was recognized for most enthusiastic, Ayat Al Zaher won a SILVER medal and Hadia Malik got GOLD along with some other local awards. During Book Fair week there was a best-‐decorated door competition based on the theme “book fair”. There were many fascinating doors, through all of Al-‐Hijra’s hallways. The grade 6 door was simple and unique but a true representation of book fair week and naturally the best door award came to Grade 6. Lesson learnt “ Simplicity is Beauty”. Great idea Vaneeza!
Visiting the sick – In keeping with the Sunnah of our Prophet SAW we thought that a visit to the sick would be boring but this was truly the best field trip ever! It was truly a magnificent experience and we wish to go again. Falah brought along some treats and we had a little cup cake party at the Nursing home and later on had a picnic in the gardens. In Sha Allah may Allah (SWT) reward us for following in Prophet Muhammad’s SAW footsteps as well as putting a smile on the faces of people so tender and fragile. This was our first trip out with our new fellow students Aya Hassoum and Sumayya Amatullah.

SPRING 2016 THE LOREM IPSUMS What’s Grade 6 Up To?
Sr. Mumtaz
So far this Grade 6 year has been amazing with so many activities. For we know all work and no play would make Grade 6 a dull class. Right now we are helping Sr Mumtaz with preparations for the Track and Field Day, which promises to be a great day see you all there!

SPRING 2016 THE LOREM IPSUMS
April Student of The Month: Positive Attitude
The Prophet (pbuh) asked Allah to make his attitude better, even when Allah had described him in the Qur’an as being “on an exalted standard of character.” (Qur’an 68:4). This is a clear indication of the Prophet’s (pbuh) deep concern and earnest desire that the Muslims should continue to seek to increase in good attitudes, no matter what heights they had already scaled, just as their Prophet (pbuh) continued to seek to increase in good attitudes through his dua (see below for dua). “Good attitudes” is a comprehensive term which includes all the good characteristics that human beings may acquire, such as modesty, patience, gentleness, forgiveness, tolerance, cheerfulness, truthfulness, trustworthiness, sincerity, straightforwardness, purity of heart, and so on.
