. General Introduction
AKD Range Intelligent electric actuators are automatic equipment to execute the local and remote control of
valves, comprising an explosion-proof motor, controlling circuits, reduction gears and so on. AKD Range
Intelligent electric actuators make a perfect mechatronic product. All these equipments are sealed inside the
double-sealed waterproof enclosures with standard watertight up to IP68. With a hand-held setter, one can carry out
the non-intrusive quick setting, overhauling and interrogation. The actuators are endowed with the functions of
self-protection and explosion suppression, and it wont be necessary to open the enclosure of the working
actuator to carry out the adjustment, parameter-checking and malfunction diagnosing even in hazardous
areas. With all the advancement, reliability and convenient operation, our product enjoys high popularity
among the users and widely applied in the fields of electricity, petroleum, mining, water processing andso on.
. Features of the product
LCD display
Large screen of Matrix liquid crystal is adopted with all the menus in English. There are also
the reminders and explanations to go with. The interface is simple and easy. The open percentage of
the valves is synchronized with digital displays, and there are various kinds of information also on
display according to the real work situations. The high brightness luminescent tubes are equipped in
this product to indicate valves state of open, close and intermediate.
Control mode
Remote digit parameter signal and analog parameter signal (currency signal between 4 to 20 mA)
can be received to control. The local control selector can adjust the position of the valve on site.
State indication
The output of electric relay contact is used to indicate the open and close limit of valves andtrouble alarm. An extra 420mA electric current signal output is provided to indicate the open
percentage. In addition, the buses can feedback the various kinds of information of the actuators.
Commissioning and interrogating without removing electrical covers
Using the infra-red setter, one can input and adjust the various work parameters and open and
close limits without removing the electrical covers, which would prevent the dust, humidity and
other harmful substances from entering the inner of the actuators and accordingly greatly improves
the reliabilities of the electric actuators.

High intelligence
It is endowed with the function ofman-computer interaction, and the electric control part adopts
the wholly new SOC chips control with high intelligence.
High protective quality
The aluminum alloy enclosure and casing with the surface bonderized are highly anticorrosive. The
transition fit is equipped with O ring while the sliding fit equipped with framed oil-seal casing which is
to the IP68. There are optional casing of explosion-proof type to work in the hazardous areas 1 and 2
with the IIA, IIB and T1-T4 explosive compounds.
High efficiency with low noise
The fine turbo and worm reduction equipment are of great qualities of small clearance, high
efficiency, low noise (maximum noise is 50 db) and long mechanic life.
Reliable self-locking quality
The self-lock quality between the turbo and the worm prevents the reversed movement of the
actuators in case of power failure or abortive signals.
Automatic reset of the clutch
The actuator is equipped with the particular mechanic selector of manual/electrical operation.
The manual operation can be realized through pulling the separation handle of the clutch. Once the
motor receives the signal to start, the clutch will reset automatically and bring the actuator into
automatic state.
Operation hand wheel
The hand wheel enables users to open or close the valves in case of power failure, and the
design guarantees safe and easy operation.
Features of the motor
Whole sealing squirrel-cage induction motor of single phase or three phases can be equipped in
accordance with the requirement of the power supplying. The motor is with large initiative torque
and small moment of inertia.

4.1 Manual operation
The electric actuator is equipped with the hand wheel and selector of electric operation and hand wheel
operation, which enables users to operation in case of the power failure or the malfunction of the control circuit.
Before one operates manually, one should switch the selector (the red one) to the position of stop or local.
Press the selector handle of electric operation or manual operation to the hand level, and turn to the hand wheel to
engage the clutch at the same time. When the hand gear is engaged, one can release the handle, which will turn
back to the free position by the clockwork spring with the inner gears locked at the hand level. Now, turn the hand
wheel will bring the output axis into motion to realize the manual operation.
4.2 Local operation
Local operations require the mode selector (the red) at the local level. Then one can use the operation selector
(the black) to do the operation. The two working modes (hold or inching) of the local operation can set with the
setter. Here, the close operation is employed to illustrate the work modes of hold and inching.
Inching: turn the operation selector (the black) to close and hold it, and the actuator will move in the direction
of close. Once the operation selector is released, it will get back to the original place, and then the movement in the
direction of close will also come to an end; turn the operation selector to open and the actuator will move in the
direction of open. Once the operation selector is released, the actuator will stop immediately.
Hold: after the operation selector is turned to close, the actuator will keep moving in the direction of close
even the selector is released and gets back to its original place. In the open operation, the operation selector is
turned to open and then released and gets back to the original place, the actuator will keep moving in the direction

4.3 Remote Control
Remote control refers to that the actuators are controlled by digits signals, analog signals or buses signals
coming form remote control chamber.
For detailed wirings, please refer to The Remote Control Wiring Diagram of AKD Range Electric Actuator.
. Commissioning
5.1 Introduction to the infra-red setter
The infra-red setter enables the non-intrusive working setting of the electric actuators. In using the setter, the
mode selector should be positioned at the stop level, and the infra-red emitter should point at the display of the
electric actuator within the distance of 1 meter.
Before using the infra-red setter, check the battery first to make sure that there is enough power. To check the
battery, one can press the keys of the setter to see if the red emitting indicator flashes from the front window.
Before using the infra-red setter to operate the actuator, please make sure the electric actuator is with power
(the liability of power or battery). The concerning setting contents of the actuator can only be changed under the
circumstance that the password of the actuator has been verified. If the parameters cannot be changed, please check
that if the password has been verified or not.
