PROJECT DESCRIPTION
To develop a Decision support system for
measuring of urban livability at local area level
taking people’s perception and expert’s opinion.
TASKS INVOLVED
Studied various parameters involved in
Urban livability
Designed an indicator system by assigning
weightage- area specific
Calculated Liveability Index at ward level
and visualized potentials involved in
Landuse Planning by integrating physical
and socio-economic information (GIS
Spatial Analyst tool combined with weighing
and sequential techniques)
Used public participation as a tool to
improve Urban Liveability through Spatial
Planning process
Decision Support System to measure Urban Liveability
Liveability can be best tested at the
neighbourhood level because
neighbourhood is a geographically
localized community located within a
larger city or suburb. The area where
residents are drawn and held together
by the common and beneficial
interests

This analysis will help the planners and decision makers to improve liveability of
residential areas by giving due consideration to the liveability performance as perceived by
the inhabitants.
The utility of the analysis is to understand: how successful liveability performance is
perceived by professionals and how the identified indicators of liveability were judged by
inhabitants.

PROPOSED MIXED LANDUSE
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
In the current scenario the core
areas of the city are facing
congestion problems and there is
pressure on the infrastructure,
services and public amenities.
Urban renewal would be the
suggestion for the arising
problems. The goal of the project

STUDY AREA
Navipeth Sadashiv peth Erandwane
Area covered: 0.97 sq. km.
Perimeter: 4.175 km.
The study area lies along the banks of the river Mutha which divides it into 2 parts.
Site boundary is defined by the roads: Shastri road,
Mhatre bridge, Karve road and Sambhaji bridge.
EXISTING SITE CHARACTER
13
Aishwarya Borate
These types of roads give preference to carpooling users to promote carpooling thus helping reduce traffic and all the problems that come with it such as air and noise pollution and provide better efficiency and usage of the road.
Short term parking on the road coming from less than 1 km area will reduce as people will prefer walking or cycling rather than parking in a parking lot far away.
Assuming that 20% of these people use the HOV road by carpooling it will reduce the no. of cars on the street by 95.
Provision of a continuous cycle track and footpath coupled with parking restrictions will further promote people to walk and cycle.
Changes due to parking restriction will automatically increase 1 lane on the road thus reducing the congestion problem on the road.
