Work on the Taxiway Golf Project began this summer and Rocky Mountain Construction was

able to accomplish all work north of Runway 7/25 before the construction season ended. Rocky

Mountain Construction is anticipating resuming work on this project during the first week of

May 2020, with full project completion slated for mid July 2020.

Work areas 1, 2, and 3 are the only areas remaining for the project. These work areas will

require the closure of Taxiway Golf from Runway 7/25 to the South EOR. There will also be a

one-week closure of RWY 7/25 during this time period as well. As schedules are finalized in the

spring all tenants will be kept apprised of the closure schedules for various portions of airport

pavements.

Work Areas 1 and 2 will include between 4” and 6” of pavement removal and replacement.

New underdrain will be installed along the edge of the taxiway and all new LED lights and signs

will be installed as well. Work Area 3 will include underdrain installation and new LED lights

and signs.

You may have noticed that the airport wayfinding signs have been dismantled. Airport staff are

working through a complete rehabilitation of all airport wayfinding signage around the airport.

All signage is in the process of being sandblasted and repainted. Upon completion of the

painting, the Airport is also updating the nomenclature on each sign to reflect the most current

information. Please use extra caution when driving around the airport as staff members are

working near the roadways to finalize the completion of this project.

The annual tenant snow meeting is scheduled for Tuesday November 26, 2019 at 4:00 p.m. at

the Airport Administration Building. All tenants are welcome to attend. The meeting will cover

a brief overview of the Snow and Ice Control Plan, priority removal areas, removal locations,

stockpiling locations, removal timing, common NOTAM publications, how to handle snow in

front of hangar doors, and de-icing applications. There will also be a time for a question and

answer session with Airport Operations staff. We look forward to seeing you at this meeting.

INSPECTION

Snow Removal Reminders

1. The Airport will plow no closer than 4 feet from hangar doors.

2. Do not throw snow out onto previously plowed taxilanes. Please coordinate removal of

snow from immediately in front of hangar areas with Airport Operations by calling 541-

891-2620.

3. As much as possible do not drive across snow that has not been plowed.

5. Do not pull out in front of plow trucks as their ability to stop is greatly reduced.

6. General Aviation hangar areas are listed as Priority 3 in the Airport’s Snow and Ice

Control Plan. The goal of the Operations teams is to remove the snow from the airfield

first and then work in towards the hangar areas.

AIRCRAFT WASH RACK

The aircraft wash rack in the West General

Aviation Area has been turned off and

winterized as of the last week of October. To

prevent pipes from freezing and bursting the

wash rack is winterized each fall. The wash rack

will be turned back on as weather allows in the

spring, usually this occurs in mid-April.

The Airport successfully completed their annual

Part 139 certification inspection on August 21.

The inspection resulted in 0 discrepancies being

noted for the Airport. This is the third time in

four years the airport has received an error free

inspection.

2020 = Rehab TWY B1 and TWY Delta

2021 = Design Runway 7/25 and TWY Foxtrot

Kingsley Fire has recently implemented a

controlled burn schedule to maintain fence

lines and ditches on airport property. Kingsley

Fire conducts all burns in compliance with

Klamath County regulations and all burning is

conducted during open burning windows.

Kingsley Fire will issue a press release through

the 173rd Fighter Wing prior to burning activity

taking place.
