Mobility is changing work and the quality of work completed. Its about putting the information (and parts) you need where and when you need them.

Those with a few years under their belts will remember the early series of Star Trek, and the science fiction fantasy of everybody having in their hand and/or on their wrist devices to access capabilities and information wherever they were; even off the ship. Well, its not science fiction now.

With a recent convergence of mobile devices and digital content, the whole mobile work technology idea has taken a giant leap forward. And now, wearable technology comes along with the promise of not even having to carry anything except the tools and parts when working. To be able to work, be fully connected and have both hands free will add so much time for those who use it. Being a connected part in an intelligent system that can find parts, record information, even, say, task an engineer qualified for the job in hand, will improve efficiency and quality.

In this issue, we look at how one airline managed the move to a mobile, tablet-based system and leveraged the opportunity to build everything around the users. There is also an article on how RFID, is converging with mobility to increase visibility and traceability of work and components, to tie parts to jobs and bring an airline into the future; plus how the new concept is managed.

Youll enjoy the article on the way software, or rather what it can do, has enabled CAMO processes around the world to be monitored and managed in real time from one central point. And, finally we step right into the next stage of mobility with an article about what wearable devices are already making possible and what they might add to the future workplace.

And, thats not all. We learn how Paul Saunders sees IT with the focus on mobility. Hes new to this column but those of you who read Aircraft IT Operations issue will be familiar with Pauls knack for reading the present, looking to the future and offering interesting perspectives on work with technology. Michael Denis, though, hasnt left us: he is now offering to answer readers questions in a new resource that we call Ask an Expert. 2MORO WAS PROUD TO ANNOUNCE THE NEW RELEASE OF ITS WEB-BASED SOFTWARE, AERO-WEBB IN LATE NOVEMBER 2014. AERO-WEBB helps users with the optimization of maintenance activities: fleet tracking, configuration control, airworthiness management, maintenance planning and execution, among other things. Aero-Webb 6.1 offers a new way of data-access and navigation between transactions to better answer users business needs. This new release also improves airworthiness management functionality in a dedicated and exhaustive cockpit.

2MORO HAS OPENED ITS ASIA & PACIFIC OFFICE2MORO chose Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) to set up its Regional Office for Asia & Pacific in late January 2015. David Ferrier, Director Business Development and Asia & Pacific Representative for 2MoRO explained; We wanted to be closer to our customers and partners and we are very satisfied to be now located at the center of the ASEAN market. We strongly believe in helping recently created aviation companies or mature aviation groups by providing our proven solutions based on SAP technology. In such a growing market, you need to focus on your main business and not on IT concerns. Our solutions are fully integrated with the worlds best ERP so as to allow the General Management of our customers to know in real time the situation as fas as costs and revenues are concerned.

We have also recently enhanced our solution Aero One dedicated to Aviation SMEs with a module dedicated to flight scheduling and crew management. Such companies can now rely on one unique system to efficiently manage all their needs: Flight operations, Fleet management and CAMO, MRO, Human Resources, Financials, Sales, Purchasing, Banking, Inventory, Material Resources Planning, and Services. Thanks to all these features, we are well prepared to help our local partners located in each country of Asia & Pacific and to support them with their Aviation customers projects. Our model is really unique: both domestic expert and Aviation software specialist. Our local partner is expert in the domestic regulations and will manage the project with the customer in their local language and 2MoRO brings its Aviation software and expertise. Together we offer the most profitable solution of the market.

TWO NEW MALAYSIAN AVIATION COMPANIES SELECT AERO ONEIN late January 2015, 2MoRO was really proud to announce that MHS Aviation and BHIC AeroServices have chosen Aero One to complement their ERP system based on SAP Business One. Croesus IT solutions, the Malaysian 2MoRO partner for these two projects, will be in charge of the implementation by the end of Q1 2015.

These two new references show how important is the connection between the ERP system and theAviation software for small and medium sized companies which are looking for a simple but proven, up-to-date and cost effective solution.

MHS and BHIC AeroServices are also concerned with the launching of the GST (Goods and Services Tax) in Malaysia and this new concern for Malaysian companies is also very well managed by SAP Business One and Croesus IT Solutions. The combination of SAP Business One + Aero One builds one unique system to help 2MoROs customers optimize purchasing and stock levels, to follow their fleet and perform their maintenance as well as the creation of financial reports based on the maintenance activities and the tracking of the asset values.

A THIRD AIRBUS HELICOPTERS SUBSIDIARY HAS CHOSEN AERO ONE TO MANAGE ITS PART145 ACTIVITYIT was a cause for real pleasure when, in late January 2015, 2MoRO announced the addition of the Chilean Airbus Helicopters subsidiary to the Aero One users community. Airbus Helicopters already runs SAP Business One for managing all its standard business functions (sales, purchasing, inventory, operations, financials, and human resources).

2MoRO is the preferred MRO software supplier to the Airbus Helicopters Group for its small and medium sized subsidiaries. Airbus Helicopters Chile has therefore decided to implement Aero One to be more streamlined and more efficient by integrating its specific Part 145 activities processes to its ERP, SAP Business One. This follows on from 2MoROs already successful implementation of Aero One in two Airbus Helicopters subsidiaries in Malaysia and Kazakhstan on time and in budget. The successful finalization of these two convinced the Chilean subsidiary.

So, thanks to the combination SAP Business One + Aero One, Airbus Helicopters Chile will be able to manage its whole Maintenance Execution activities (aircraft and equipment receiving, repair projects management, maintenance tasks referential, work orders, time tracking, inventory, sales process, and so on).

Aero One and SAP Business One are the most suitable integrated solution for midsize Aviation companies looking for a full ERP coverage enhanced with specialized modules for their business: Maintenance execution management; Continuing airworthiness management; Referential data management; Flight scheduling and crew management.

2MoRO builds its global presence and adds new members to the Aero One user community

AERDATA, the provider of lease management, records management and engine fleet planning software, announced at the beginning of February 2015 that Titan Aviation Holdings, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Atlas Air Worldwide Holdings, Inc., has chosen AerDatas CMS and STREAM software.

CMS (Corporate Management System) is a lease and asset management solution used by aircraft, helicopter and engine leasing organizations. STREAM (Secure Technical Records for Electronic Asset Management) is the web-based solution used by some of the worlds largest airlines, lessors and MROs to manage aircraft and engine records.

Michael Steen, President and Chief Executive Officer,

Titan Aviation Holdings, Inc. said Reflecting the significant expansion in the size and value of our aircraft portfolio and our desire to grow our business, we sought to find a software solution that would enhance our ability to leverage the lease, asset and records management requirements of our freighter-centric fleet. AerData is already proven in the industry to be a reliable partner capable of facilitating our business model and supporting the achievement of our goals.

Commenting on the announcement, Mark Nieuwendijk, Managing Director of AerData said We are delighted to announce that Titan has selected our services. Titan joins a growing list of organizations realizing the benefits that an integrated system provider can offer.

AVIIT Inc. was pleased to announce, at the beginning of November 2014, that Rotorcraft Services Group (RSG) has selected its eMan solution to simplify the management of its technical library. eMan will provide a centralized document store and library for all of RSGs technical publications associated with the maintenance and repair of aircraft and components. The solution will be delivered as a managed service by AviIT Inc. from its data center in St Louis, Missouri. It will provide RSG aircraft maintenance technicians with web-based access to the full range of its documentation from any location across the globe.

We wanted a system that would provide our technicians with a very robust and straightforward means of accessing all of our technical publications from any site at any time. We also wanted to be able to avoid

the need to maintain a large estate of local access devices and to ensure our quality with current FAA conformity; stated Mike Gallegos of RSG; continuing, eMan fits the bill perfectly and the range of existing helicopter operators and service centres already using the system provides comfort that AviIT understands the demands of the sector.

Kevin Clark, AviIT Chief Operating Officer welcomed the selection by RSG. We are delighted that an organization with such a high commitment to delivering a flexible yet high quality service has selected eMan to meet its requirements in the management of technical publications. The solution has been developed to allow users to focus on the aircraft maintenance tasks rather than the complexities of managing technical publication. We look forward to a long and prosperous relationship.

OPTIMIZED MAINTENANCE PROGRAM TO APPLY ADVANCED ANALYTICS TOOLSAS November 2014 opened, Boeing and ANA (All Nippon Airways) announced that they are teaming up to implement operational improvements for ANAs fleet. The improvements are aimed at reducing costs and increasing efficiency of maintenance operations for ANAs current and future 777 models as part of the Boeing Optimized Maintenance Program (OMP) service.

The efficient performance of our 777 and 777X fleet together with Optimized Maintenance Program (OMP) will add value to our operations, said Takeo Kikuchi, Director of Engineering, ANA. We were very pleased with Boeings offer of services to center on cost reductions in our 777 fleet maintenance operations, and we look forward to working with the Boeing teams to achieve these improvements.

ANA recently finalized orders for 20 777-9Xs and six 777-300ER airplanes. The Boeing Optimized Maintenance Program targets improved maintenance costs for ANAs current 777-300 fleet as well as future deliveries of the 777X airplanes. Improvements will include reduced scheduled maintenance labor costs, lower materials costs and faster airplane maintenance turn times. The Optimized Maintenance Program provides a competitive advantage to an airline by applying specialized analytics tools as well as Boeings unique airplane design and certification knowledge to identify ways to streamline airplane maintenance programs. Boeing Commercial Aviation Services Professional Services teams will perform analysis of ANA historical maintenance data and develop a maintenance program for ANAs 777 fleet.

The Optimized Maintenance Program is one of the many ways we are giving our customers the Boeing Edge, by combining our teams experience and knowledge

with advanced analytics tools to identify all of the strengths, constraints and opportunities that factor into an airlines maintenance programs, said Ken Sain, director of Professional Services, Boeing Commercial Aviation Services. In the span of a few short months, we will work together with ANA and their local regulatory agencies to develop the most effective and efficient maintenance program for ANAs 777 fleet.

By evaluating and analyzing a maintenance program, including logbooks, scheduled maintenance data, component maintenance records and other metrics, Boeing develops recommendations for maintenance program enhancements customized to accommodate the unique operating environments and specific operational goals of the airline. Boeing technical consultants also work directly with local regulatory authorities to secure approval and agreement on any recommended maintenance program changes. Boeings OMP services have also recently been adopted by several other airlines, including Ryanair and Cathay Pacific. Boeing hosted a presentation highlighting its OMP services, entitled Maintenance Program Optimization at Aviation Week MRO Asia in Singapore.

AirExplore will be using OASES to support its four Boeing 737-400s and a Boeing 737-800 which provide charter flights for holiday companies as well as additional capacity for other airlines on both short and long-term contracts. To allow for scalability, OASES is structured in a modular format and AirExplore has selected all of the following modules: Core, Airworthiness, Planning, Production, Materials, Line Maintenance Control and Warranty. AirExplore has also opted to run OASES on standalone servers which are currently being procured; The implementation of the system is scheduled for late 2014/early 2015.

Nick Godwin, Commsoft Managing Director, commented: Winning this contract is excellent news for us and further evidence that OASES really does stand apart from the competition. Were looking forward to a swift and successful implementation of the system and to a long-term collaboration with AirExplore in support of their ACMI and charter operations.

Mr Jan Kassak, Maintenance Director at AirExplore, added: In light of our increasing number of aircraft, we were looking for a professional program to manage the continuing airworthiness and maintenance of our fleet. We chose OASES as the best system which meets our requirements and provides a well-arranged and logical system in all areas which are necessary for the management of engineering and maintenance. I believe OASES will meet our expectations.

management, consultancy and representation services for flag carriers and charter airlines in Turkey, CIS Countries, Europe, Africa and Asia.

EASA Part M-approved for Boeing 737-300/400/500 (CFM56), Arpiem Aviation has been using OASES since 2011. Commsofts flagship product, OASES is an MRO IT system offering technical sophistication whilst being intuitively user-friendly.

Nick Godwin, Commsoft Managing Director, commented: Were delighted that Arpiem Aviation, a Commsoft strategic partner since 2011, has won this contract to provide CAMO services for Vega Aviation. Its further evidence that OASES really can help professional aircraft maintenance operations to attract new business.

OGMA SIGNS CONTRACT WITH COMMSOFT TO BECOME THE LATEST OASES USER

IN early December 2014, Commsoft, was also able to announce that OGMA, the Portuguese specialist aviation company, has signed a four concurrent users, 5-year contract to use OASES for its CAMO and engine support operations. To allow for scalability, OASES is structured in a modular format and OGMA has selected the following modules: Core, Airworthiness, Planning and Line Maintenance Control. To operate OASES, OGMA will be taking advantage of Commsofts newly-expanded hosting environment and the company has already planned for a prompt implementation.

Nick Godwin, Commsoft Managing Director, commented: OGMA is a successful and growing business with an international reputation, so we were delighted by their decision to choose OASES as their favoured MRO IT system. Its a decision that also provides further justification for the investment we have made in providing customers with a Commsoft hosting option.

DR. HUGH REVIE JOINS EMPOWERMX AS VICE PRESIDENT - REGIONAL SALES, EMEAEMPOWERMX announced in mid-October 2014 that Dr. Hugh Revie has joined the sales leadership team as its Vice President - Regional Sales, EMEA region. Dr Revie has almost 30 years experience in the Commercial Aviation sector. He started his career in aviation after graduating with a doctorate in Engineering from Strathclyde University in Glasgow, Scotland. Initially he worked for British Aerospace who at the time manufactured small commercial commuter aircraft. During his time with BAE Systems, he moved with his family to Toulouse, France where he was involved in helping create a joint venture with ATR and BAE Systems.

Around 15 years ago, Hugh created his own company, CoreData Limited, which focused on providing airlines, MROs, OEMS and aircraft supply chain companies with solutions that could help them drive value from the large amounts of data they were beginning to accumulate. He also developed the first Electronic Techlog. CoreData was a successful venture and he finally sold the company to Rolls Royce. The solutions continue to be marketed by OSyS which is a wholly owned subsidiary of Rolls Royce. Since then, Hugh has been consulting through his company dmblue Limited, predominantly within the aviation sector.

For a number of years now I have been interested in driving value from data especially within engineering disciplines of airlines and aircraft maintenance companies. In relation to this, I have been following EmpowerMX for quite some time and am very familiar with how its unique software products produce the actionable intelligence todays successful aviation-business leaders now employ to make great and timely asset-management decisions. Because of this, I look forward to working with the EmpowerMX leadership team to quickly expand our business horizons and to further cement our reputation as an industry-recognized leader in providing aviation maintenance-management services and solutions, says Dr. Revie.

We are indeed fortunate to have Hugh join our senior leadership team, says Dinakara Nagalla President and CEO, EmpowerMX. His extensive aviation-industry background and seasoned leadership experience will enable us to achieve the aggressive business-expansion objectives weve set for ourselves for the EMEA region. We eagerly look forward to working alongside Hugh as we position ourselves for continued growth and success.

EMPOWERMX OPENS NEW EMEA REGIONAL OFFICE IN LONDON, U.K.IT was right at the end of October 2014 when EmpowerMX, announced that it has opened a regional headquarters for Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) based in the U.K. This move is precipitated by rapidly expanding demand in

EMEA for the companys FleetCycle brand maintenance management solutions. FleetCycle is already used by most major airlines in North America with proven savings.

EmpowerMX Limited, the EMEA head office, is located at 5 New Street Square, London, United Kingdom, EC4A 3TW; telephone: +44 7989 389 119; email: [email protected].

Said Dinakara Nagalla, President and CEO of EmpowerMX, This move is a natural progression for our firm. Our business is dramatically expanding in EMEA and especially in the U.K., and we need top talent situated in proximity to be able to manage this business and support our growth. Our cloud based, tablet driven, lean, 100% digital predictive maintenance tools will provide an excellent alternative to the airlines, third party MROs, defense operators and OEMs; a new tool, that feels native to do their business, which they severely lack today.

MARANA AEROSPACE SOLUTIONS (MAS) AND EMPOWERMX SIGN FLEETCYCLE CLOUD SAAS AGREEMENT

THE leadership teams of Marana Aerospace Solutions (Marana) and EmpowerMX announced in mid-November 2014 the signing of a software-as-a-service (SaaS) licensing agreement. Under the terms of this agreement, Marana will employ the EmpowerMX-hosted FleetCycle Execution Suite - MRO Manager (FCXM) as its enterprise-level MRO software solution.

Said Greg Emerson, Sr. Vice President of Marana, Our selection of the FleetCycle brand is centered around enhancing the overall customer experience. Our brand promise is Delivering More and the use of EmpowerMX MRO Manager (FCXM) at MAS enables our team to focus on that promise by providing customers with the best possible MRO experience.

Dinakara Nagalla, President and CEO of EmpowerMX added, Maranas decision to integrate FleetCycle into their MRO operations signals their intent to be an industry leader by using a state of the art production control system which in turn improves turn times and enhances customer satisfaction.

New face, new place and a new SaaS client sees EmpowerMX set for the future

FLATIRONS OPENS NEW UK OFFICEAS companies across Europe seek cost savings and rapid ROI from enterprise content lifecycle management solutions, Flatirons Solutions announced at the end of October 2014 that it has opened a new office in the UK in response to greater European demand for enterprise content lifecycle management solutions that help organizations achieve cost savings and rapid return on investment (ROI). Flatirons new UK office is housed in the Spirella building north of London.

With decreased spending and growth at a halt across Europe, companies are looking for smarter ways to operate, both in order to remain profitable and to continue to meet customer expectations. One area in which organizations can fine-tune their operations to achieve cost savings and improve rather than compromise quality is in the way they manage enterprise data and information throughout its lifecycle. Flatirons enterprise CLM solutions help organizations cut costs from often out-dated systems and processes while maintaining or improving operations, also delivering ROI on aggressive timelines.

As a result, demand for Flatirons enterprise CLM solutions has continued to grow not only in the companys strongholds in northern Europe and Germany but also across the continent with customers including British Airways, Cambridge Assessment, Editions Francis Lefebvre, Rolls-Royce, and others. Organizations across industries are adopting Flatirons CORENA Suite of CLM solutions as well as its Digital MediaSuite and Application Retirement for InfoArchive solutions, the companys EMC-certified solutions for digital asset management and retirement of legacy applications.

Flatirons has a rich history serving the European defense community

and aerospace OEMs as well as clients across other data- and content-driven industries, said Toralf Johannessen, Flatirons EMEA president. Together with demand for our EMC-certified solutions and long-term partnerships with EMC, Alfresco, Componize, and SDL, we are in a unique position to address customers CLM needs no matter what industry or European country they operate in.

Flatirons CEO Geoffrey Godet added, As more organizations realize the business benefits of efficient content lifecycle management, they require the right technology, the right experience, and local support to pursue the best solution. With the addition of our new UK office and established partner network, Flatirons offers all three to help European clients adapt to todays tough economic climate.

Flatirons UK office is located north of London at Letchworth Garden Citys Spirella Building. Its other European offices are in Birkerd, greater Copenhagen (Denmark), Kongsberg (Norway), rebro (Sweden), and Frankfurt (Germany).

FLATIRONS RELEASES CORENA PINPOINT MOBILE 6.0 TO DELIVER INFORMATION TO LINE AND BASE AIRCRAFT MECHANICS AT THE POINT OF PERFORMANCEALSO in mid-November 2014, Flatirons Solutions announced the release of CORENA Pinpoint Mobile 6.0, the companys platform- and device-agnostic mobile solution for line and base aircraft maintenance. With this release of CORENA Pinpoint Mobile, Flatirons gives airline and MRO mechanics access to the broadest range of document types for the largest number of aircraft through mobile devices including smartphones, tablets, phablets, and laptops helping to deliver the right information to mechanics at the point of performance and increase aircraft utilization.

More than 800 American Airlines mechanics use tablets with CORENA Pinpoint Mobile to service aircraft and return them to active use.

The aviation industry was one of

the first to adopt mobile devices by equipping pilots with tablets for use in the cockpit. Benefits afforded by mobile devices for line and base maintenance also are helping adoption in aircraft maintenance take off, as airlines and Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) organizations realize the time savings of reducing trips to computer kiosks to access documentation.

In line maintenance, its a really great day when a mechanic is sitting down because the plane is flying, said Blair Gregg, who oversaw the deployment of more than 800 tablets with CORENA Pinpoint Mobile to American Airlines

mechanics. But when an airplane needs attention, we want our mechanics to fix it fast. Giving them tablets keeps our mechanics on the plane, which saves time and keeps flights running.

American Airlines was an early adopter of CORENA Pinpoint Mobile and is currently implementing version 6.0 thanks to benefits realized from the product. The airlines early adoption of the solution helped drive feature enhancements implemented in version 6.0, including: High performance architecture: Faster

search, browsing, content processing, and document rendering across a wide range of device types and connectivity modes.

Easy-to-use interface: Simplified navigation of the native tablet application to help mechanics find specific documentation as quickly as possible.

Smart connectivity: The application automatically switches to offline mode when a mechanic loses an Internet connection, providing continuous access to documentation

without requiring the user to manually change modes.

Support for more document and aircraft types: CORENA Pinpoint Mobile 6.0 now supports the largest number of airframe document types, including nearly all Boeing and Airbus aircraft, in one solution.

Support for many engine models: Through deployment at major operators, CORENA Pinpoint Mobile 6.0 brings support for major engine models from leading manufacturers, many of whom are also CORENA Suite adopters.

Flatirons is committed to helping its customers deliver the right information, at the right time, to the right people to drive greater task performer productivity and equipment utilization, said JD Sillion, chief solutions officer for Flatirons. CORENA Pinpoint Mobile 6.0 gives airline operators and MROs the most flexibility to make their mechanics as productive as possible, regardless of the mobile device, Web browser, or other method of information access they use.

FLATIRONS GROWING WORLDWIDE PRESENCE WITH DUBAI EXPANSIONBY late January 2015, Flatirons Solutions, Inc. had begun the process of opening a regional office in Dubai. The new office, scheduled to open in mid-2015, will provide local sales and customer support for the regions airline operators and maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) providers along with technology and service partners in the region that are seeing increased demand for content lifecycle management solutions.

The companys Middle East expansion follows momentum in 2014 from the selection of the companys CORENA Suite solution by LATAM Airlines Group (the largest South American airline), the opening of an office in the UK to extend its European presence from its operations in Germany and Nordic countries, and the extension of its facility in Colorado to accommodate the companys growing staff. Investments in staff and facilities are being coupled with new CORENA Suite releases that

will extend current solution capabilities in functional areas that include mobile eTaskcards, next-generation Flight Operations, 3D, and others. Our initiative to open a Dubai office in 2015 reflects the impressive growth and industry leadership of Middle Eastern airline operators and MROs, as well as our commitment to enabling partners around the world, said Geoffrey Godet, Flatirons CEO. A local presence will allow us to provide essential support and continuity that customers and partners in the Middle East require and to support long-term relationships in the region.

Interested and qualified technical publications, software engineering, and application support experts in the Dubai region who are invited to contact Flatirons via the Careers section of its website (http://www.flatironssolutions.com/about/careers/) for information on potential employment opportunities. Qualified candidates should check back periodically as new positions are listed throughout the first half of 2015.

AMOSA Story of SuccessThe best fit in terms of functionality, price and market standing, states easyJetRead more about the world-class M&E software system at SWISS-AS.COM

FIJI AIRWAYS TAKES OFF WITH AMOS AND SELECTS SWISS-AS AS MRO SOFTWARE PROVIDER

FIJI Airways recently awarded its MRO software contract to Swiss-AS and will start to implement AMOS early next year. Given Fijis geographic location, Swiss-AS is in the ideal position of being able to support Fiji Airways either from the US, or from the Asia-Pacific office.

The airlines management strategically decided to re-new its Maintenance & Engineering software with a state-of-the-art solution, supporting its growth plans

and providing industry best-practice processes to the technical department. A further key decision factor was the high degree of integration of AMOS functions, ensuring that required maintenance data needs to be entered only once, while assuring an appropriate information flow beyond departmental boundaries. A reference visit to a dedicated AMOS customer in Asia helped to convince Fiji Airways evaluation team that AMOS is the most appropriate choice for a future-proof MRO software solution that will meet the needs of the current and future business as it develops.

In addition to the pride we feel that Fiji Airways has decided on AMOS, I am sure that this beautiful destination will be an additional incentive for our consultants and trainers who will be involved in the implementation project, says Ronald Schaeuffele, CEO of Swiss-AS.

Stefan Pichler, Fiji Airways Managing Director and CEO commented: Were delighted to appoint Swiss-AS for the provision of its unique MRO software which will enhance the quality of the maintenance we carry out at Fiji Airways. As a best-in-class airline, weve chosen a partner who we believe is able to deliver the high standard of service we require for our maintenance and technical operations.

SWISS-AS BUILDING ON SUCCESS OF PREVIOUS YEARS AS AMOS COMMUNITY GREW BY 11 NEW MEMBERSIN 2014, Swiss-AS MRO software AMOS was adopted by 11 new customers, among them well-known names such as Philippine Airlines, EL AL Israel Airlines, and Aerolneas Argentinas. In line with the growth of the AMOS community, the Swiss-AS team has likewise expanded (20% FTE growth in 2014). As at early January 2015, Swiss-AS had more than 140 employees who support the growing number

of customers and are committed to the further development of AMOS. A strong performance in 2014 was reflected in a more than impressive growth in revenue of around 22%.

A big step in 2014 was the relocation of Swiss-AS headquarters to a location in Allschwil (Basel), close to the airport. The bright and modern office space is easily accessible from the airport and the main station by public transport or taxi. The new location offers the firms customers modern facilities for classroom training and meetings. 2014 was also characterised by two significant anniversaries: Firstly, AMOS, which was launched as a software development project within Crossair in 1989, turned 25. Secondly, the company Swiss-AS, which was founded in 2004 when the AMOS business activities were transferred from the IT department of SWISS to the newly founded subsidiary of SWISS , namely Swiss Aviation Software, celebrated its 10th birthday.

On the functional side, Swiss-AS appointed a dedicated team which focuses on developing the touch-optimised mobile package AMOSmobile that will initially compile a suite of modules covering the line maintenance process - to be launched in 2015. In addition, the roll-out of new and enhanced functions with regard to AMOS 10 was continued in 2014 providing customers with a state-of-the-art software solution.

In December 2014, Swiss-AS held an AMOS webinar (organized by www.aircratit.com), covering topics such as the firms implementation strategy, the new Order Management module as well as AMOSmobile. In case you missed the webinar, please send an email to [email protected].

An all-new AMOS brochure was released last year, while the homepage SWISS-AS.COM was updated with additional information on AMOS and Swiss-AS.

Swiss-AS AMOS builds on success and adds another customer in Asia Pacific

IFS APPLICATIONS 9 TO BE RELEASED AT IFS WORLD CONFERENCE 2015, TAKING PLACE ON MAY 57, 2015 IN BOSTON, USAIFS, the global enterprise applications company, announced in late November 2014 that the new version of its extended business software suite IFS Applications 9 will be released at the IFS World Conference 2015, May 57 in Boston, Massachusetts, USA. Attendees at the event will be the first to learn about the new features and capabilities of IFS Applications 9.

IFS Applications 9 builds upon the foundations that have made IFS a recognised industry leader*. The upcoming version will offer new and existing customers major enhancements in terms of agility and usability, as well as powerful capabilities tailored to support customers in IFSs target industries.

In light of IFSs commitment to quality, IFS Applications 9 is being thoroughly tested both internally as well as in the field. Delivered in the form of an early adopter programme, IFS is working with several global end-user companies based in the U.S., Scandinavia, and Europe, who represent a diverse spread of industries, including: service management, high-tech, industrial manufacturing, and offshore contracting. Details of the early adopters experience in leveraging IFS Applications 9 will be provided at IFS World Conference in May 2015.

We are very excited about revealing the new capabilities of IFS Applications in May next year, IFS SVP R&D Thomas Sld said. By closely following the developments in our key industries and listening to the feedback of our customers, we will be able to present a new version that sets the standard for usability and agility. We have made some strategic investments with IFS Applications 9 to innovate and improve the customer experience in order to deliver even more value to our

    customers.The IFS World Conference 2015

offers three days of keynote speeches, breakout sessions, world-leading technology, training, networking and entertainment, all teaching true business agility, helping people get closer to their business and turn change into a business advantage.

IFS was named a Leader in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Single-Instance ERP for Product-Centric Midmarket Companies, 2013.

NORWEGIAN ARMED FORCES EXTENDS ITS USE OF IFS APPLICATIONSTHE IFS solution has been rolled out to additional Navy personnel, and is now supporting 2,500 users in the armed forces with mission-critical configuration management, MRO, and logistics

IFS, the global enterprise applications company, announced in late January 2015 that the Royal Norwegian Navy has decided to extend its use of IFS Applications by purchasing additional user licenses.

Since 1999 the Norwegian Armed Forces (Air Force, Army, and Navy including the Coast Guard) have been using IFS Applications for military logistics to manage mission-critical processes such as configuration management, including document and spare parts management, maintenance, repair, overhaul (MRO), and supply chain. The Navys recent decision to purchase additional users means that the IFS

industry solution will empower more personnel working deployed on one of its vessels or on land. The solution is distributed between vessels and onshore sites, also offering integration with the government finance and HR system. Complying with the Navys operational requirement for six months operation in autonomous mode, the IFS solution can process work as usual and replicate the data to the master database when deployed in theatre as well as when returning from duty.

IFS Applications is the only solution that lives up to the stringent operational requirements of the Armed Forces in general and the Navy in particular, IFS A&D industry director Graham Grose said. Efficient defence logistics and asset management are mission-critical as they underpin the efforts of all military personnel whether they are deployed overseas or working domestically.

We are very proud of the continuing trust that the Royal Norwegian Navy places in our industry solution, IFS Scandinavia CEO Glenn Arnesen added. By working in close collaboration with the Norwegian Armed Forces, we have been able to incorporate invaluable best practices into our technology, resulting in a unique industry solution that encompasses everything from project management and approval routing, configuration management, document management and archiving, to project delivery and warehousing, purchasing, warranty and change management.

MXI TECHNOLOGIES ANNOUNCES BILL CAVITT AS PRESIDENT AND CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER; DAVE SEIBEL TO CONTINUE AS CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARDIT was early October 2014 when Mxi Technologies announced that Bill Cavitt had been named Mxis new President and CEO and appointed as a member of the companys Board of Directors. In this role, Mr. Cavitt will be responsible for working with the executive team to further strengthen Mxi Technologies market leadership position and drive growth.

Mr. Cavitt succeeds Dave Seibel, who is retiring after nearly four years of leading Mxi and capping an outstanding executive career for the past 35 years. Mr. Seibel was instrumental in Mxis business transformation, and further strengthened the companys position as one of the worlds leading global aviation maintenance management software companies. Under Seibel, Mxi expanded both its commercial and defense businesses, and developed the strongest product line-up in the industry. He leaves behind a well-established, growing and profitable business, which he will continue to support as Mxis Chairman of the Board.

With such great prospects and opportunities ahead of us, I have decided that now is the right time to step back and allow a new leader to take the company to the next level, commented Dave Seibel. Supported by our experienced senior leadership team, Bill is absolutely the right executive to deliver exceptional customer value, innovative solutions, and a long-term product vision.

Mr. Cavitt joins Mxi from American Airlines, where he most recently served as Vice President Engineering, Performance Improvement and Quality, based out of the Maintenance and Engineering base in Tulsa, Oklahoma. In this position, he oversaw all engineering functions for the airline including airframe, power plant, components, M&E quality assurance/inspections, as well as continuous improvement and M&E training.

Mr. Cavitt joined the airline in August 2008 after 29 years in the aviation field, including a career with the U.S. Naval Aviation and Northrop Grumman Corporation. In addition, he co-owned a technical analysis company focused on providing aviation-related classified and technical analytical support to the highest levels in the Department of Defense and Military Service decision makers. He holds a Master of Science, Aeronautical Engineering and Avionics degree from the Naval Postgraduate School, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Ocean Engineering from the U.S. Naval Academy.

With todays announcement, we are confident that Bill Cavitts proven aviation maintenance executive experience, together with Dave Seibels ongoing guidance and Board-level leadership, will position Mxi favorably for continuous growth and success well into the future, says James Johnston, Partner, Moelis Capital Partners. The board welcomes Bill to the team, and is grateful for Daves significant contributions as CEO and President, and ongoing commitment as Mxi chairman.

HAECO SELECTS MXI TECHNOLOGIES MAINTENIX MRO EDITION TO SUPPORT GROWING OPERATIONSMXI Technologies has announced that Hong Kong Aircraft Engineering Company Limited (HAECO), a world-leading maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services provider, has selected the Maintenix MRO Edition as its core software platform for managing maintenance operations at the companys facilities in Hong Kong.

Commenting on the mid-November 2014 agreement, a HAECO representative said, HAECO has a fundamental understanding of how operational competencies can differentiate our business in a highly competitive market, and it is this understanding that has allowed us to quickly grow into one of the worlds largest MRO organizations,

The team here at Mxi is extremely honored and privileged to partner with such a world class leader in the MRO industry as HAECO, added Bill Cavitt, President and CEO, Mxi Technologies. Their addition to our growing MRO customer base serves as further testament that the Maintenix MRO Edition is the software platform of choice for todays highly competitive service providers. CAPE AIR SELECTS MXI TECHNOLOGIES MAINTENIX SYSTEM AS ITS MRO STANDARDA Large U.S. regional airline is fueling strategic growth through standardized processes, greater integration between MRO and flight operations

In mid-November 2014 Mxi Technologies announced that Cape Air the largest and fastest growing independent U.S. regional airline featuring a mixed fleet of 89 aircraft has selected the Maintenix system for its enterprise-wide fleet maintenance management. Recently voted by Cond Nast Traveler readers as one of the Best Airlines in America, Cape Air has set its sights on driving greater operational efficiencies while scaling the business to service new locations. Meeting these objectives required an MRO solution that could deliver standardized processes across the maintenance management chain, and support greater integration with flight operations to optimize the scheduling of critical revenue flights.

Following a rigorous market review, Cape Air selected Maintenix Operator Edition as its MRO system standard, set to deliver automated, mobile-ready MRO functionality across the airlines engineering, planning, execution and materials management functions. By reducing reliance on disparate information systems, Cape Air is looking to more effectively manage day-to-day operational requirements and meet ongoing regulatory compliance, while keeping in line with aggressive strategic growth plans.

Cape Air strives to deliver the safest and most reliable flight services in the market today. This can only be achieved

when all parts of the business particularly Customer Services, Flight Operations and MRO are working together as a unified entity, says Linda Markham, President of Cape Air. Maintenix proved to be the best solution capable of delivering all of the core functionality we need to streamline operations, facilitate timely information insights, and expand the business without ever compromising our commitment to customer satisfaction.

The commercial aviation market in North America, and in the U.S. in particular, is on the cusp of significant growth. Capitalizing on this opportunity requires the right mix of innovation, ingenuity and information. Cape Air has established itself as a model for what it takes to grow and thrive in the highly competitive U.S. regional market, says Bill Cavitt, President and CEO at Mxi Technologies. Mxi is proud to be teaming with Cape Air, and we look forward to helping them deliver on the promise of superior flight services for their customers.

Hosted in the United Kingdom by BAE Systems, the three-day, user-driven event brought together members of Mxis defense community to share best practices around the use of the Maintenix software as well as provide a platform for knowledge transfer around the product.

The event, attended by BAE Systems, Harris Canada, FMV, the Swedish Air Force, CGI, Saab, Tsunami Tsolutions, and the Canadian Department of National Defense, allowed Mxis defense users to discuss their use of the Maintenix software to address real-world challenges in local and global sustainment as well as work in partnership to identify product areas that will provide ongoing business benefit and a continued competitive advantage.

In addition to delegate presentations, case studies, and discussions, BAE Systems arranged for a site visit of their Warton facilities which included a tour of the Typhoon Final Assembly and a Simulator Experience. An exclusive networking dinner allowed the group to hear from Nat Makepeace, a former Royal Air Force pilot and current BAE Systems test pilot who has achieved the rare feat of accumulating 5,000 hours in the air flying military jets.

ANI AND XPRESS AIR SELECT ALKYMIN early January 2015, Volartec welcomed two new Alkym customers to the APAC region. Both are based in Indonesia and are part of the same group. The MRO company Aero Nusantara Indonesia (ANI) has selected Alkym to replace their existing MRO IT solution. At the same time Xpress Air with their strong links to ANI will also benefit from the fully integrated solution provided by Volartec.

John Barry, SVP Business Development with Volartec was on hand to welcome the latest announcement stating ANI has been a leader in the MRO sector for 15 years in this region with a great team at the helm. The enhancements last year specifically in the MRO and Workshop modules completed the functionality to serve such clients. This deal makes all that development effort worthwhile.

ANI has elected to select the full suite of Alkym modules and tools with 18 concurrent users of the system. The unique short implementation programs delivered by Volartec in this case will be split in two phases. The program will begin in February 2015 with total on-site time of nine weeks from the Volartec project team.

Olafur Jonsson, Vice President Maintenance at ANI pointed towards the ability to get a fully integrated MRO IT solution within a realistic budget was the cornerstone of our search criteria. We have our existing solution in place and therefore understand the complexity involved but needed more productivity savings moving forward. Our detailed market analysis placed the Volartec system as the best match for us without question

The mechanics offered five reasons, explaining first that they simply wanted to get to their information and needed technical data at their fingertips to avoid running back and forth between the airplane and the office. Also, they wanted to be able to know if a part is available to fix the airplane, rather than having to refer to a minimum equipment list or pushing maintenance into the night. Furthermore, they needed to know the status of the airplane what was changed last time it was in the hangar; and they felt they should know the current status of the operation. With seventy plus gates, planes dont always come to the expected gate so mechanics need real-time visibility on where the plane

    is. Finally, theyd l
