Air Interface Physical Layerin Physical Layer , Specification , Uu , LTE

The LTE air interface physical layer offers data transport services to higher layers. The access to

these services is through the use of a transport channel via the MAC sub layer. The physicallayer is e!pected to perfor" the follo#ing functions in order to provide the data transport service$

    GPRS Tunnelling Protocol User Plane (GTP-U)in 2TP U , S3 , S4 , S5 , Specification , LTE , S6 , 07

    2TP U protocol is used over S6 U, 07, S3, S4 and S5 interfaces of the Evolved Pac8et Syste"-EPS . 2TP U Tunnels are used to carry encapsulated T P/Us and signalling "essages bet#eena given pair of 2TP U Tunnel Endpoints. The Tunnel Endpoint +/ -TE+/ #hich is present in the2TP header indicates #hich tunnel a particular T P/U belongs to.

The transport bearer is identified by the 2TP U TE+/ and the +P address -source TE+/,destination TE+/, source +P address, destination +P address .

    GTP-U Transportin S3 , S4 , S5 , Specification , U/P , +P, LTE , S6 , 07

The transport layer for data strea"s over S6, 07, S3, S4 and S5 is an +P based Transport. The2TP U protocol over U/P over +P is supported as the transport for data strea"s on the userdata interfaces.

Any data lin8 protocol that fulfils the re*uire"ents to#ard the upper layer "ay be used.

    UDP/IP

    The U/P port nu"ber for 2TP U is as defined in 92PP TS 7:.756.
