GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS Packaged air cooled liquid chillers for chilled water production. The machines are made with weather resistant

materials and suitable for outdoor installation. Framework with sections of thick steel for high resistance to the greatest

stress during handling and transport. Machines supply fully assembled with refrigerant charge and control systems.

The installation requires electrical and hydraulic connections only allowing high costs and time reduction. Final

assembly on all machines before shipment including running test, reading and monitoring of operating parameters,

alarms simulation and visual check. Design, assembly and test as per the Company Quality Assurance program in full

compliance with ISO 9001:2008. Environmental Management System Certification according to ISO 14001:2004. The

machines are in full compliance with European Directive 2006/42EC, 2006/95EC, 2004/108EC, 97/23EC and

subsequent amendments.

EQSL SERIES Machines equipped with condensing coils in "W" position, screw compressors, axial fans and shell and tube evaporator. Horizontal air suction and vertical air delivery. Cooling capacity : 299 - 1310 KW.

OPERATING LIMITS

Cooling – Production of chilled water

Operating limits diagram for chilled water production according to the ambient temperature and chilled water outlet

temperature.

OPERATING CONDITIONS “A” Operating conditions for which the unit’s cooling capacity can be measured with the electronic selection program.

OPERATING CONDITIONS “B” Operating conditions for which the unit’s cooling capacity has to be measured by our commercial and sales department. These values are indicative. Operating temperatures are influenced by a series of variables, such as: Working conditions. Thermal load. Active power stages. Cleanliness of the heat exchanging coils. Microprocessor regulation.

TOTAL HEAT RECOVERY The system is totally controlled by the microprocessor and the heating capacity which is supplied depends on the microprocessor set. 30÷60 °C hot water outlet temperature range 3÷8 °C Δt range between water inlet/outlet

PARTIAL HEAT RECOVERY The system is not regulated and the heating capacity which is supplied depends on the machine’s working conditions. 40-75 °C Range of hot water outlet temperature. 5-15 °C Δt range between water intake/outlet.

ANTIFREEZE MIXTURES Antifreeze mixtures must be used when the conditions are expected to produce outlet chilled water below 5 °C.

STORAGE TEMPERATURE If the unit is not installed immediately after reception and is to be stored for an extended period of time, please, make sure that storage temperatures range between -30 and 50ºC and the unit is not subject to condensation or direct sunlight.

FRAMEWORK Base, self supporting frame and panelling in steel plate with protective surfaces treatment in compliance with UNI ISO 9227/ASTMB117 and ISO 7253, and painted with epoxy powders.

COMPRESSORS - Twin screw semi-hermetic compressors with highly

efficient screw profile and high peripheral speed, optimized for R134a refrigerant.

- Integrated discharge check valve. - Flanged-on oil separator. - Integrated safety relief valve (overpressure inner valve). - Replaceable cartridge oil filter. - Oil flow switch. - Valves for oil filling and discharge. - Oil sight glass. Electronic protection device that includes : - Electric motor thermal protection via internal winding

temperature sensors. - Phase sequence electronic relay. - Sensor on refrigerant discharge for temperature

monitoring. - 2-pole 3-phase electric motor with Part-Winding starting

from model 300 V2 F06 to model 530 V2 F08 included. - 2-pole 3-phase electric motor with Star / Delta starting

from model 540 V2 F08 to model 1310 V2 F16 included. - Stepless capacity control, 50÷100% for each compressor. - Crankcase heater. - Terminal box with IP54 class enclosure. - Rubber supports.

EVAPORATOR - Single pass type shell and tube evaporator, optimized for

R134a refrigerant. - Tubes with a helical rifled internal surface. - Intermediate baffles positioned to ensure optimum speed

of the fluid and low pressure drops. - Single circuit on water side and independent circuits, one

for each compressor, on refrigerant side. - Shell, header, tube sheets, made of carbon steel, tubes in

Cu. - Anticondensate insulation made of polyurethane. - Temperature sensors on water inlet and outlet. - Antifreeze heater. - Hydraulic connections with grooved end arranged for

flexible joint (the flexible joint and the adapter pipe are optional accessories).

CONDENSING COIL Heat exchanger coil with high efficiency aluminum fins, specifically developed to provide high heat transfer and lower pressure drops. The combination of two factors, special tubes and fins, allows to optimally combine the following aspects: - Maximum capacity relative to the size of the exchanger. - Minimum charge of refrigerant. - Reduction of the air flow required for the heat exchange. Frame in galvanized steel.

FAN SECTIONS - Axial fans with sickle-shaped blades, fan guard and

optimized for low noise levels. - External rotor AC type electric motor with stepless

variable speed for condensing pressure control with phase-cut electronic controller.

- IP54 class enclosure.

COOLING CIRCUIT - Electronic expansion valve that allows high performance

and system efficiency thanks to a timely and accurate response to changes in temperature and pressure.

- Energy reserve module for the electronic expansion valve to allow the closure of the valve in the event of lack of power supply.

- Sight glass. - Filter dryer on liquid line. - Service valves on liquid line. - Service valves on compressor gas discharge. - Double safety valve (only one in function) on high and low

pressure side. - The system include two safety valves with manual

changeover system. - Pressure transducers with indication, control and

protection functions, on low and high refrigerant pressure and oil pressure.

- High pressure safety switch with manual reset. - Pressure gauge on high and low pressure. - Refrigerant circuit with copper tubing with anticondensate

insulation of the suction line. - Plastic capillary hoses for pressure sensors connection.

R134a refrigerant charge.

ELECTRICAL PANEL In accordance with EN60204-1 norms, suitable for outdoor installation, IP54 class enclosure, complete with: - Main switch with door lock safety. - Fuses for each compressor. - Magnetothermic switches for fans. - Fuses for water pumps (if scheduled). - Contactors for each load. - Compressor Part-Winding starting system from model

290 V2 F06 to model 570 V2 F10 included. - Compressor Star / Delta starting system from model 620

V2 F10 to model 1510 V2 F24 included. - Transformer for auxiliary circuit and microprocessor

supply. - Panel with machine controls. - Power supply 400/3/50.

CONTROL SYSTEM MP.COM microprocessor system with graphic symbol for

control and monitor of operating and alarms status. The

system includes:

- Voltage free contact slot for remote general alarm. - Service hour meter for main components. - Non-volatile flash memory for data storage. - Menu with password security. - LAN connection.

HYDRAULIC CONNECTIONS - Heat exchangers threaded hydraulic connections ISO

228/1 – G M, available up to a diameter of 3" included. - Pipes threaded hydraulic connections ISO 7/1 – R,

available up to a diameter of 3" included. - The hydraulic connections with flange (FL) are not

supplied with counter flange. - The hydraulic connections with grooved end are not

supplied with flexible joint (optional accessory).

ACCESSORIES - Pump KIT. Includes chilled water flow safety switch. - Kit LNO for reduction of noise emissions. - Kit XLS for extreme reduction of noise emissions. - High pressure axial fans equipped with EC motors. - Partial heat recovery system. (not available for units with double cooling circuits) - Voltage free contact slot for partial heat recovery with pump activation. - Partial Heat Recovery System. - Total Heat Recovery System. - Kit "BRINE A" for chilled water production up to -6ºC. (this accessory is not compatible with the Total Heat

Recovery System). - Kit "BRINE B" for chilled water production below -6ºC. (this accessory is not compatible with the Total Heat

Recovery System). Warning: with the BRINE KIT, it is mandatory to use an antifreeze mixture. Please, refer to the “Antifreeze

Mixture” chapter in this manual.

The use of antifreeze mixtures may result in a decrease in the unit’s performance.

OTHER ACCESSORIES - Chilled water safety flow switch. - Analog flowmeter (0÷1V / 4-20mA) for measurement and display of the evaporator water flow. The optional

accessory stops the machine in case of water flow anomalies. The installation of the analog flowmeter excludes the installation of the water flow switch. The optional accessory involves the installation of the microprocessor expansion module "1" and its driver.

- Hydraulic connections of the evaporator and total heat reclaim heat exchangers with flexible joint with adapter pipe (solder type). Flexible joint with adapter for flange connection (FL). The counterflange is not supplied.

- Anti-freeze kit for hydraulic pipes of the pumping group. - Compressor thermal protection relay. - Power factor capacitor for motor compressor - cosφ 0.9. - Supply network control relay. Measurement and control of the minimum line voltage, over line voltage, phase loss,

phase unbalance and phases sequence of the unit. The system stops the machine in case of operative conditions malfunction.

- Compressor operation signalling through additional voltage free contact. - Demand limit. The optional accessory limits the electrical absorption of the unit according to a set point value with a

reduction of the machine engaged load (activation of the compressor capacity control or, in extreme cases, stop of a compressor). The optional accessory involves the installation of the microprocessor expansion module "2" and its driver.

- Analog set point compensation (0-1V). Available only for machines with single refrigerant circuit. The optional accessory involves the installation of the microprocessor expansion module "1" and its driver. Available compensation systems:

- Compensation according to ambient temperature (the system foresees the installation of the ambient temperature sensor).

- Compensation according to an external analog signal. - Stop valve on compressor suction. - Air/gas heat exchanger protection net. - Air/gas heat exchanger in special execution (please contact our Commercial Dept.). - Spring antivibrating supports for the machine- supplied not installed. - Rubber supports for the machine – supplied not installed. - Electrical panel heating system (suggested in case of operation of the machine with negative ambient temperature). - Ambient temperature sensor. The ambient temperature sensor requires the installation of the microprocessor

expansion module "1" and its driver.

MP.COM – MICROPROCESSOR CONTROL SYSTEM The MP.COM microprocessor control system is equipped with an 8-key terminal and backlit graphic display on which all information in different languages or easily identifiable symbols are displayed. OTHER OPTIONALS

KIT "BRINE" The accessory allows the production of glycol solution leaving the machine down to a temperature of -12 °C.

This KIT includes:

- Set of the working parameters.

Warning: with the "BRINE" KIT optional, it is mandatory to use antifreeze mixtures. The use of antifreeze mixtures may result in a decrease in the unit’s performance.

KIT LNO This optional is available as an accessory with the purpose of obtaining a reduction in noise emissions.

This KIT includes:

- Set of the working parameters. - A cap made with noise-absorbing material on each compressor.

There are 3 different types of LNO KITS:

KIT LNO 100%

No air flow reduction. Noise reduction is obtained through a different working set of the microprocessor control and an acoustic

insulation of the noise source.

KIT LNO 85%

Noise reduction is obtained through a different working set of the microprocessor control, an acoustic insulation of the noise source

and a reduction of the condenser coil air flow at 85% of the nominal value.

KIT LNO 70%

Noise reduction is obtained through a different working set of the microprocessor control, an acoustic insulation of the noise source

and a reduction of the condenser coil air flow at 70% of the nominal value. Consider that a condenser coil air flow reduction induces a

minor cooling capacity of the machine and a major energy consumption of the compressor.

Warning: To obtain the effective working conditions of cooling capacity and noise reduction for unit equipped with LNO KIT, please

refer to the selection program.

KIT XLS This optional accessory is available to obtain an extreme noise reduction on the machine.

The versions equipped with XLS KIT have the following characteristics : - Set of the working parameters. - Machine frame and panels insulated with soundproofing material. - Soundproof cap on each compressor. - Compressor soundproof box.

Consider that a condenser coil air flow reduction induces a minor cooling capacity of the machine and a major energy consumption of the compressor. Warning : To obtain the effective working conditions of cooling capacity and noise reduction for unit equipped with XLS KIT, please refer to the selection program.

HIGH PRESSURE “EC” AXIAL FANS The "EC" axial fans are equipped with a brushless type synchronous motor with integrated electronic commutated system. The motor rotation control is obtained with the EC system (Electronic Commutation) that manages the motor according to the 0-10V proportional signal coming from the microprocessor control. Characteristics of “EC” motors: - No electromagnetic noise. - Efficiency 83 - 86%. - Minimum power input. The following is a characteristics comparison between an "AC" asynchronous electric motor with phase-cut control (voltage controller) and "EC" brushless type synchronous motor.

Sound pressure level 1 meter far in free field conditions. Warning: The graphs are referred to working condition with null available static pressure (0 Pa).

PARTIAL HEAT RECOVERY SYSTEM

**This optional accessory is not compatible with double cooling circuit units.

The partial heat recovery exchanger is installed before the main condenser. The system is not regulated and the control is ON-OFF

type. The heat recovery system’s operation is subject to the supply and demand of cooling capacity.

The system includes:

- Copper brazed plate type heat exchanger with cover plates, plates and connections in AISI 316 stainless steel. - Anticondensate insulation made of polyurethane. - Upon request voltage free contact slot for partial heat recovery water pump activation. The water pump is not supplied.

The heating capacity which is supplied depends on the kind of refrigerant gas which is used and working temperatures. The heat

exchangers can produce hot water up to the maximum temperature of 70-75 °C and according to the working conditions of the unit.

TOTAL HEAT RECOVERY SYSTEM

The total heat recovery exchange is installed in parallel to the main condenser. The system is totally controlled by the microprocessor

and the control is ON-OFF type. The heat recovery system’s operation is subject to the supply demand of cooling capacity.

For each refrigerant circuit the system includes:

- Shell and tube condenser optimized for R134a refrigerant with shell, header, tube sheets made of carbon steel, tubes in Cu. - Anticondensate insulation made of polyurethane. - Antifreeze heater. - Water temperature probe on heat reclaim water inlet. - Diverter valve. - Non return valve. - Liquid receiver. - Safety valve.

**Upon request: voltage free contact for total heat recovery water pump activation. The water pump is not supplied.

The parallel connection of the hydraulic circuit is at Customer care and the water temperature probe is supplied not installed.
