If purchased from Orchard Supply Hardware, return tothe nearest Orchard Store and Orchard will repair it, free of charge.

If this air compressor is used for commercial or rental purposes, the warranty will apply for ninety daysfrom the date of purchase.

This warranty gives you specific legal rights and you may have other rights which vary from state to state.

CFM: Cubic feet per minute.

SCFM: Standard cubic feet per minute; a unit ofmeasure of air delivery.

PSIG: Pounds per square inch gauge; a unit of meas-ure of pressure.

ASME: American Society of Mechanical Engineers;made, tested, inspected and registered to meet thestandards of the ASME.

Code Certification: Products that bear one or moreof the following marks: UL, CUL, ETL, CETL, havebeen evaluated by OSHA certified independent safetylaboratories and meet the applicable UnderwritersLaboratories Standards for Safety.

Cut-In Pressure: While the motor is off, air tankpressure drops as you continue to use your accesso-ry. When the tank pressure drops to the factory setlow pressure the motor will restart automatically. Thelow pressure at which the motor automatically restartsis called “cut-in” pressure.

Cut-Out Pressure: When an air compressor isturned on and begins to run, air pressure in the airtank begins to build. It builds to a factory set highpressure before the motor automatically shuts off -protecting your air tank from pressure higher than itscapacity. The high pressure at which the motor shutsoff is called “cut-out” pressure.

Branch Circuit: Circuit carrying electricity from elec-trical panel to outlet.

Assemble Wheels

It will be necessary to braceor support one side of the

outfit when installing the wheels because thecompressor will have a tendency to tip.

1. Attach wheels with shoulder bolts and nuts asshown. NOTE: Place the bolts in the bottom holeof the wheel bracket on units 20-29 gallons and inthe top hole on units 30 gallons and up.

2. Tighten securely. NOTE: The outfit will sit level ifthe wheels are properly installed.

The wheels and handledo not provide adequate

clearance, stability or support for pullingthe unit up and down stairs or steps. Theunit must be lifted, or pushed up a ramp.

Assemble Rubber Strip1. Clean and dry underside of air tank leg opposite

wheels.

2. Remove the protective paper strip from the adhe-sive backed rubber foot strip.

3. Attach the rubber foot strip to the bottom of leg.Press firmly into place.

Unpacking1. Remove unit from carton and discard all packag-

ing. NOTE: Save all parts bags.

Assemble Handle1. Insert the handle inside the compressor saddle

and line up the two bolt holes on each side.

2. Install the four screws, two on each side.

3. Tighten securely.

GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONSRISK OF ELECTRICALSHOCK. In the event of a

short circuit, grounding reduces the risk ofshock by providing an escape wire for theelectric current. This air compressor must beproperly grounded.

The portable air compressor is equipped with a cordhaving a grounding wire with an appropriate ground-ing plug (see following illustrations). The plug must beused with an outlet that has been installed andgrounded in accordance with all local codes and ordi-nances.

1. The cord set and plug with this unit contains agrounding pin. This plug MUST be used with agrounded outlet.

IMPORTANT: The outlet being used must be installedand grounded in accordance with all local codes andordinances.

2. Make sure the outlet being used has the sameconfiguration as the grounded plug. DO NOT USEAN ADAPTER. See illustration.

3. Inspect the plug and cord before each use. Donot use if there are signs of damage.

4. If these grounding instructions are not completelyunderstood, or if in doubt as to whether the com-pressor is properly grounded, have the installationchecked by a qualified electrician.

INSTALLATIONHOW TO SET UP YOUR UNITLocation of the Air CompressorLocate the air compressor in a clean, dry and wellventilated area. The air compressor should be locatedat least 12" away from the wall or other obstructionsthat will interfere with the flow of air. The air compres-sor pump and shroud are designed to allow for propercooling. The ventilation openings on the compressorare necessary to maintain proper operating tempera-ture. Do not place rags or other containers on or nearthese openings.The air filter must be kept clear ofobstructions which could reduce air flow to the aircompressor.

IMPROPER GROUNDINGCAN RESULT IN ELEC-

TRICAL SHOCK.

Do not modify the plug provided. If it doesnot fit the available outlet, a correct outletshould be installed by a qualified electri-cian.

Repairs to the cord set or plug MUST bemade by a qualified electrician.

Extension CordsUse extra air hose instead of an extension cord toavoid voltage drop and power loss to the motor, andto prevent overheating.

If an extension cord must be used, be sure it is:

• a 3-wire extension cord that has a 3-bladegrounding plug, and a 3-slot receptacle that willaccept the plug on the product

• in good condition

• no longer than 50 feet

• 12 gauge (AWG) or larger. (Wire size increases asgauge number decreases. 10 AWG and 8 AWGmay also be used. DO NOT USE 14 OR 16AWG.)

Voltage and Circuit ProtectionRefer to the Parts Manual for the voltage and mini-mum branch circuit requirements.

Certain air compressors can be operated on a 15 ampcircuit if the following conditions are met.

1. Voltage supply through branch circuit is 15 amps.

2. Circuit is not used to supply any other electricalneeds (lights, appliances, etc.).

3. Extension cords comply with specifications.

4. Circuit is equipped with a 15 amp circuit breakeror 15 amp time delay fuse. NOTE: If compressoris connected to a circuit protected by fuses, useonly time delay fuses. Time delay fuses should bemarked “D” in Canada and “T” in the US.

If any of the above conditions cannot be met, or ifoperation of the compressor repeatedly causes inter-ruption of the power, it may be necessary to operate itfrom a 20 amp circuit. It is not necessary to changethe cord set.

OPERATION

Description of OperationBecome familiar with these controls before operatingthe unit.

On/Auto/Off Switch: Turn this switch ON to provideautomatic power to the pressure switch and OFF toremove power at the end of each use.

Pressure Switch: The pressure switch automaticallystarts the motor when the air tank pressure dropsbelow the factory set “cut-in” pressure. It stops themotor when the air tank pressure reaches the factoryset “cut-out” pressure.

Safety Valve: If the pressure switch does not shut offthe air compressor at its “cut-out” pressure setting,the safety valve will protect against high pressure by“popping out” at its factory set pressure (slightly high-er than the pressure switch “cut-out” setting).

Outlet Pressure Gauge: The outlet pressure gaugeindicates the air pressure available at the outlet sideof the regulator. This pressure is controlled by the reg-ulator and is always less than or equal to the tankpressure.

Tank Pressure Gauge: The tank pressure gaugeindicates the reserve air pressure in the tank.

Regulator: Controls the air pressure shown on theoutlet pressure gauge. Pull the knob out and turnclockwise to increase pressure and counterclockwiseto decrease pressure. When the desired pressure isreached push knob in to lock in place.

Drain Valve: The drainvalve is located at thebase of the air tank and isused to drain condensa-tion at the end of eachuse.Cooling System (not shown): This compressor con-tains an advanced design cooling system. At the heartof this cooling system is an engineered fan. It is per-fectly normal for this fan to blow air through the ventholes in large amounts. You know that the coolingsystem is working when air is being expelled.

Air Compressor Pump (not shown): Compresses airinto the air tank. Working air is not available until thecompressor has raised the air tank pressure abovethat required at the air outlet.

Check Valve: Whenthe air compressor isoperating, the checkvalve is “open”, allow-ing compressed air toenter the air tank.When the air compres-sor reaches “cut-out”pressure, the check valve “closes”, allowing air pres-sure to remain inside the air tank.

Pressure ReleaseValve: The pressurerelease valve, locatedon the side of thepressure switch, isdesigned to automati-cally release com-pressed air from thecompressor head andthe outlet tube whenthe air compressorreaches “cut-out”pressure or is shut off.The pressure release valve allows the motor to restartfreely. When the motor stops running, air will be heardescaping from this valve for a few seconds. No airshould be heard leaking when the motor is running, orcontinuous leaking after unit reaches “cut-out” pres-sure.

How to Start:1. Turn the On/Auto/Off lever to “AUTO” and allow

tank pressure to build. Motor will stop when tankpressure reaches “cut-out” pressure.

2. Pull the regulator knob out and turn clockwise toincrease pressure. When the desired pressure isreached push knob in to lock in place. The com-pressor is ready for use.

NOTE: Always operate the air compressor in well-ventilated areas free of gasoline or other combustiblevapors. If the compressor is being used to operate asprayer DO NOT place near the spray area.

Before Starting Break-in Procedure

Serious damage may result if thefollowing break-in instructions are

not closely followed.

This procedure is required before the air compressoris put into service and when the check valve or acomplete compressor pump has been replaced.

1. Make sure the On/Auto/Off lever is in the "OFF"position.

NOTE: If quick connect is installed, pull coupler backuntil it clicks to prevent air from escaping through thequick connect.

2. Plug the power cord into the correct branch circuitreceptacle. (Refer to Voltage and CircuitProtection paragraph in the Installation section ofthis manual.)

3. Open the drain valvefully (counter-clock-wise) to permit air toescape and prevent airpressure build up inthe air tank during thebreak-in period.

How to Use Your UnitHow to Stop:

1. Set the On/Auto/Off lever to “OFF”.

Before Each Start-Up:1. Place On/Auto/Off lever to “OFF”.

2. Pull regulator knob out, turn counter-clockwiseuntil it stops. Push knob in to lock in place.

3. Attach hose and accessories. NOTE: The hose oraccessory will require a quick connect plug if theair outlet is equipped with a quick connect.

Too much air pressure causes a hazardous risk of

bursting. Check the manufacturer’s maximumpressure rating for air tools and accessories.The regulator outlet pressure must neverexceed the maximum pressure rating.

4. Move the On/Auto/Off lever to "ON/AUTO" posi-tion. The compressor will start.

5. Run the compressor for 15 minutes. Make surethe drain valve is open and there is minimal airpressure build-up in tank.

6. After 15 minutes, close the drain valve (clock-wise). The air receiver will fill to “cut-out” pressureand the motor will stop.

The compressor is now ready for use.

Air Filter - Inspection and ReplacementHot surfaces. Risk ofburn. Compressor heads

are exposed when filter cover is removed.Allow compressor to cool prior to servicing.

A dirty air filter will not allow the compressor to oper-ate at full capacity. Keep the air filter clean at alltimes.

1. Remove the air filter retainer.

2. Remove the air filter and make sure it is clean.

To Check Safety ValveIf the safety valve doesnot work properly, over-

To ensure efficient operation and longer life of the air compressor outfit, a routine maintenance schedule shouldbe prepared and followed. The following routine maintenance schedule is geared to an outfit in a normal workingenvironment operating on a daily basis. If necessary, the schedule should be modified to suit the conditionsunder which your compressor is used. The modifications will depend upon the hours of operation and the work-ing environment. Compressor outfits in an extremely dirty and/or hostile environment will require a greater fre-quency of all maintenance checks.

Unit cycles automatically when power is on. When performing maintenance, you maybe exposed to voltage sources, compressed air, or moving parts. Personal injuries

can occur. Before performing any maintenance or repair, disconnect power source from the compressorand bleed off all air pressure.

6. After the water has been drained, close the drainvalve (clockwise). The air compressor can nowbe stored.

NOTE: If drain valve is plugged, release all air pressure.The valve can then be removed, cleaned, then rein-stalled.

3. If dirty, rinse air filter with warm water andsqueeze dry.

4. Replace air filter and air filter retainer.

NOTE: If the air filter is extremely dirty it will need tobe replaced. Refer to the “Repair Parts” for the cor-rect part number.

MotorThe motor has an automatic reset thermal overloadprotector. If the motor overheats for any reason, theoverload protector will shut off the motor. The motormust be allowed to cool down before restarting. Thecompressor will automatically restart after the motorcools.

If the overload protector shuts the motor off frequent-ly, check for a possible voltage problem. Low voltagecan also be suspected when:

1. The motor does not get up to full power or speed.

2. Fuses blow out when starting the motor; lightsdim and remain dim when motor is started and isrunning.

8. Using a screwdriver, carefully push the valve discup and down. NOTE: The valve disc should movefreely up and down on a spring which holds thevalve disc in the closed position, if not the checkvalve needs to be cleaned or replaced.

9. Clean or replace the check valve. A solvent, suchas paint or varnish remover can be used to cleanthe check valve.

10. Apply sealant to the check valve threads. Reinstallthe check valve (turn clockwise).

11. Replace the pressure release tube. Tighten nuts.12. Replace the outlet tube and tighten nuts.13. Replace shrouds and console.14. Perform the Break-in Procedure. See “Break-in

Procedure” in the Operation section.

To Replace Regulator1. Release all air pressure from air tank. See “To

Drain Tank” in the Maintenance section.2. Unplug outfit.3. Remove the regulator ring and remove the con-

sole cover.

To Replace or Clean Check Valve 1. Release all air pressure from air tank. See “To

Drain Tank” in the Maintenance section.2. Unplug outfit.3. Remove the regulator ring and remove the con-

sole cover.

4. Remove shrouds.5. Using an adjustable wrench loosen outlet tube nut

at air tank and pump. Carefully move outlet tubeup away from check valve.

6. Using an adjustable wrench loosen pressure relieftube nut at air tank and pressure switch. Carefullymove pressure relief tube away from check valve.

7. Unscrew the check valve (turn counterclockwise)using a 7/8” open end wrench. Note the orienta-tion for reassembly.

STORAGE

Before you store the air compressor, make sure youdo the following:

1. Review the "Maintenance" section on the preced-ing pages and perform scheduled maintenance asnecessary.

2. Set the On/Auto/Off lever to “OFF”.

3. Turn the regulator counterclockwise and set theoutlet pressure to zero.

4. Remove the air tool or accessory.

5. Pull ring on safety valve allowing air to bleed fromthe tank until tank pressure is approximately 20psi. Release safety valve ring.

6. Drain water from air tank by opening drain valveon bottom of tank.

Water will condense in theair tank. If not drained,

water will corrode and weaken the air tankcausing a risk of air tank rupture.

7. After the water has been drained, close the drainor drain valve.

8. Protect the electrical cord and air hose from dam-age (such as being stepped on or run over). Windthem loosely around the compressor handle. (If soequipped)

Store the air compressor in a clean and dry location.

7. Remove the regulator.8. Apply pipe sealant tape to the nipple.9. Assemble the regulator and orient as shown. NOTE: Arrow indicates flowof air. Make sure it is point-ing in the direction of airflow.10. Reapply pipe sealant to

11. Reassemble outlet pressure gauge,tank pressuregauge, and quick connect. Orient outlet pressuregauge and tank pressure gauge to read correctly.Tighten quick connect with wrench.

12. Rotate pressure switch assemble into correctposition.

13. Replace console cover and regulator ring.

4. Using an adjustable wrench loosen pressure relieftube nut at air tank and pressure switch.

5. Using an adjustable wrench, rotate the pressureswitch assembly as shown.

6. Remove the outlet pressure gauge, tank pressuregauge, and quick connect (if equipped) from theregulator.

Pressure reading on the regulatedpressure gauge drops when anaccessory is used.

Presión mínima de corte: Cuando el motor está apagado,la presión del tanque de aire baja a medida que usted con-tinúa usando su accesorio. Cuando la presión del tanquebaja al valor fijado en fábrica como punto bajo, el motorvolverá a arrancar automáticamente. La presión baja a lacual el motor arranca automáticamente, se llama presión“mínima de corte”.

Presión máxima de corte: Cuando un compresor de airese enciende y comienza a funcionar, la presión de aire en eltanque comienza a aumentar. Aumenta hasta un valor depresión alto fijado en fábrica antes de que el motorautomáticamente se apague protegiendo a su tanque deaire de presiones más altas que su capacidad. La presiónalta a la cual el motor se apaga se llama presión “máximade "corte".

1. Fije las ruedas con pernos con resalto y tuercas comose muestra. NOTA: Instale los pernos en el orificioinferior del soporte de rueda, en unidades de 20-29 galones, y en el orificio superior, en unidadesde 30 galones para arriba.

2. Apriete firmemente. NOTA: El equipo se asentará nive-lado si las ruedas están debidamente instaladas.

INSTRUCCIONES PARA CONECTAR ATIERRA

RIESGO DEDESCARGA

ELÉCTRICA Ante la eventualidad de un cortocir-cuito, la conexión a tierra reduce el riesgo de elec-trocución proveyendo un conductor de escapepara la corriente eléctrica. Este compresor de airedebe estar adecuadamente conectado a tierra.

El compresor portátil de aire está equipado con un cableque tiene un conductor destinado a tierra, con una espigaapropiada para su conexión (ver las siguientes ilustra-ciones). El enchufe debe ser utilizado con un toma corrienteque haya sido instalado y conectado a tierra de acuerdo atodos los códigos y ordenanzas locales.

1. El cable que acompaña a esta unidad tiene una espigapara conexión a tierra. Esta DEBE ser utilizada con untomacorriente conectado a tierra.

IMPORTANTE: El tomacorriente que será utilizado deberá haber sido conectado a tierra conforme a todos los códigoslocales y ordenanzas.

2. Asegúrese de que el tomacorriente que será utilizado tenga lamisma configuración que el enchufe de conexión a tierra. NO UTILICE UN ADAPTADOR. Ver figura.

3. Inspeccione el enchufe y su cordón antes de cada uso. Nouse si existieran signos de daños.

4. Si las instrucciones de conexión a tierra no fueran comple-tamente comprendidas, o si se estuviera ante la duda acer-ca de que el compresor estuviese adecuadamente conec-tado a tierra, haga verificar la instalación por un elec-tricista competente.

INSTALACIÓNCÓMO PREPARAR LA UNIDADUbicación del compresor de aireUbique al compresor de aire en una zona limpia, seca ybien ventilada. La bomba del compresor de aire y su car-casa han sido diseñadas para permitir un enfriamiento ade-cuado. Las aberturas de ventilación del compresor resultan- entonces - necesarias para el mantenimiento de una ade-cuada temperatura de funcionamiento. No coloque géneroso contenedores, encima, ni en las proximidades de dichasaberturas. E l filtro de aire debe mantenerse libre deobstrucciones que podrían reducir el flujo de aire al com-presor.

LA CONEXIÓNINADECUADA A

TIERRA PUEDE DETERMINAR UNA DESCARGAELÉCTRICA.

No modifique el enchufe provisto. Si el mismono penetrara el tomacorriente disponible, unelectricista competente deberá instalar unoapropiado.

La reparación del cable o del enchufe DEBERÁser efectuada por un electricista competente.

Cables de extensión eléctricaUse extensiones de manguera de aire antes que prolonga-ciones de cables eléctricos, a fin de prevenir caídas de ten-sión, perdida de la potencia eléctrica al motor, y también surecalentamiento.

Si - no obstante - debe utilizarse una extensión de cable,asegúrese de que:

• La extensión eléctrica de 3 conductores, tenga unenchufe de conexión a tierra de 3 hojas, y que existaun receptáculo que acepte el enchufe del producto.

• Esté en buenas condiciones.

• No más largo que 15,2 m (50 pies).

• Calibre 12 (AWG) o mayor. (La medida de los cables seincrementa a medida que su número ordinal decrece.10 y 8 AWG pueden ser usados también. NO USE 14NI 16 AWG).

Protección del voltaje y del circuitoAcerca del voltaje y la mínima cantidad de circuitos requeri-dos, refiérase al Manual de piezas.

Ciertos compresores de aire pueden ser operados en uncircuito de 15 A, siempre que se cumplan las siguientescondiciones:

1. Que el voltaje suministrado a través de los ramales delcircuito sea de 15 A.

2. Que el circuito no sea utilizado para alimentar ningunaotra necesidad eléctrica (iluminación, artefactos, etc.)

3. Que los cables de extensión cumplan con las especifi-caciones.

4. El circuito cuenta con un disyuntor de 15 amperios oun fusible de acción retardada de 15 amperios. NOTA:Si el compresor está conectado a un circuito protegidopor fusibles, use sólo fusibles de acción retardada. Losfusibles de acción retardada deben estar marcados conla letra "D" en Canadá y "T" en EE.UU.

Si cualquiera de las condiciones enumeradas no pudieseser cumplida, o si el funcionamiento del compresor causarareiteradas interrupciones de la energía con la que se loalimenta, podría ser necesario operar al mismo desde uncircuito de 20 A. Para ello no será necesario cambiar sucable de limentación.

Descripción de operaciones Familiarícese con estos controles antes de operar la unidad.

Interruptor On/Auto/Off: Mueva este interruptor a la posi-ción ON para dar contacto automático al interruptor de pre-sión, y OFF para interrumpir la energía eléctrica al términodel uso.

Interruptor de presión: El interruptor de presión permite elarranque automático del motor cuando la presión deltanque disminuye por debajo del valor de la presión deconexión regulada en fábrica. El motor se detendrá cuandola presión del tanque alcance los valores de presión decorte, regulado en fábrica para su desconexión.

Válvula de seguridad: Si el interruptor de presión dejara decortar el suministro de presión del compresor conforme alos valores prefijados para la presión de corte, la válvula deseguridad protegerá contra la presión elevada, "saltando"de acuerdo a los valores prefijados en fábrica (ligeramentesuperiores a los de presión de corte de la llave interruptora.)

Manómetro para controlar la presión de salida. Estemanómetro indicará la presión de aire disponible a la salidadel regulador. Esta presión está controlada por el reguladory es siempre menor o igual que la presión del tanque

Manómetro de la presión del tanque: El manómetro quecontrola la presión del tanque indica la reserva de presióndel tanque de aire.

Regulador: Controla la presión de aire mostrada en elmanómetro de salida. Tire de la perilla y gírela en sentidohorario para incrementar la presión, y hágalo en sentidoinverso para disminuirla. Cuando se logre la presión desea-da, presione la perilla para bloquearla.

Válvula de drenaje: La válvu-la de drenaje se encuentraubicada sobre la base deltanque de aire y se usa paradrenar la condensación al finde cada usoSistema de enfriamiento (no mostrado): Este compresorcontiene un sistema de avanzada para el control de enfri-amiento. En el núcleo de este sistema de enfriamiento hayun ventilador especialmente diseñado. Resulta perfecta-mente normal - para este ventilador - soplar aire en grandescantidades a través de los orificios de ventilación. De talmanera se podrá saber que el sistema de enfriamiento tra-baja cuando el aire esta siendo expelido.

Bomba de compresióndel aire (no mostrada):Comprime el aire dentrodel tanque. El aire de tra-bajo no se encuentradisponible hasta que elcompresor haya alcanza-do a llenar el tanquehasta un nivel de presiónpor encima del requeridopara la salida del aire.

Válvula reguladora: Cuando el compresor de aire seencuentra funcionando,la válvula reguladoraesta "abierta", permitien-do la entrada del airecomprimido al tanque deaire. Cuando el nivel depresión del tanquealcanza el punto de"corte", la válvula regu-ladora "se cierra", rete-niendo la presión del airedentro del tanque.

Válvula aliviadora depresión: La válvula alivi-adora de presión se encuentra ubicada en el costado delinterruptor de presión; ha sido diseñada para liberarautomáticamente el aire comprimido de la cabeza compre-sora y el tubo de salida, cuando el compresor de aire alcan-za la presión de "corte" o es apagado. La válvula aliviadorade presión permite el arranque libre del motor. Cuando elmotor se detiene, debería escucharse el escape del aire através de dicha válvula durante unos segundos. No debeescucharse escape alguno mientras el motor está en mar-cha, ni pérdidas continuas una vez que se alcanzó la pre-sión "de corte".

2. Tire de la perilla del regulador y gire en sentido horario paraincrementar la presión. Cuando el valor deseado de presiónsea logrado, presione la perilla hasta su posición blocante. Elcompresor estará listo para ser usado.

NOTA: Opere siempre el compresor de aire en áreas bien venti-ladas, libres de gasolina u otras emanaciones combustibles. Si elcompresor será utilizado para utilizar un rociador, NO lo coloqueen las cercanías de la zona de rociado.

1. Asegúrese que la palanca On/Auto/Off esté en la posición "OFF".

NOTA: Tire del acoplamiento hacia atrás hasta percibir el "clic"que impide el escape del aire de la conexión rápida.

2. Enchufe el cable de alimentación en el receptáculo del ramaldel circuito correcto. (Referirse al párrafo "Protección delvoltaje y del circuito" en la sección "Instalación" de este man-ual).

3. Abra completamente laválvula de drenaje (sentidoantihorario) a fin de permitirla salida del aire e impedir elaumento de la presión den-tro del tanque de airedurante el periodo de asen-tamiento.

cierre el regulador de aire.

2. Tire de la perilla del regulador, gire en sentido antihorariohasta el límite. Empuje la perilla hasta su posición blocante.

3. Conecte la manguera y accesorios. NOTA: Tanto la mangueracomo los accesorios requerirán un enchufe de conexión rápi-da si la salida del aire está equipada con un zócalo de conex-ión rápida.

Demasiada presión deaire podrá ser la causa

de riesgo de explosión. Verifique los valores de máximapresión dados por el fabricante de las herramientasneumáticas y los accesorios. La presión de salida delregulador jamás debe exceder los valores de máximapresión especificados.

4. Mueva la palanca On/Auto/Off a la posición "ON/AUTO". Elcompresor se pondrá en marcha.

5. Haga funcionar el compresor durante 15 minutos. Asegúresede que la válvula de drenaje esté abierta y que la presión deaire acumulado en el tanque sea mínima.

6. Luego de 15 minutos, cierre la válvula de drenaje (sentidohorario). El aire recibido irá llenando hasta el punto de"corte" de presión, y el motor se detendrá.

El compresor estará ahora listo para ser usado.

Cómo verificar la válvula de seguridadSi la válvula deseguridad no trabajaadecuadamente, ello

podrá determinar la sobrepresión del tanque, cre-ando el riesgo de su ruptura o explosión. Antes deponer en marcha el motor, tire del anillo de laválvula de seguridad para confirmar la seguridadde que la misma opera libremente, si la válvulaquedase trabada o no trabajara cómodamente,deberá ser reemplazada por el mismo tipo deválvula.

Filtro de Aire - Inspección y reemplazoSuperficies calientes.Riesgo de que-maduras. Las

cabezas del com-presor están expuestas cuandose retira la cubierta del filtro. Deje enfriar al com-presor antes de darleservicio.

Un filtro de aire sucio no permitirá que el compresor opere aplena capacidad. Mantenga el filtro de aire limpio en todomomento.

1. Extraiga el retén del filtro de aire.

2. Retire el filtro de aire y asegúrese de que esté limpio.

IMPORTANTE: No opere el compresor sin el filtro de aire.

Cómo drenar el tanque1. Coloque la palanca On/Auto/Off en la posición "OFF".

3. Remueva la herramienta neumática o el accesorio.

4. Tire del aro de la válvula de seguridad dejando purgarel aire del tanque hasta que este reduzca su presiónaproximadamente a 20 PSI. Suelte el aro de la válvulade seguridad.

5. Drene el agua contenida en el tanque de aire, abriendola válvula de drenaje ubicada en la base del tanque (en sentido contrario a las agujas de reloj).

Dentro del tanque se pro-ducirá condensación de

agua. Si no drena, el agua lo corroerá y debilitará cau-sando un riesgo de ruptura del tanque de aire.

NOTA: Vea en la sección "Operación" la ubicación de los controles.

Para asegurar una operación eficiente y una vida útil más prolongada del compresor de aire debe prepararse y seguirse unprograma de mantenimiento de rutina. El siguiente programa de mantenimiento de rutina está diseñado para un equipo funcionan-do diariamente en un ambiente normal de trabajo. Si fuese necesario, el programa debe ser modificado para adaptarse a lascondiciones bajo las cuales se usa su compresor. Las modificaciones dependerán de las horas de operación y del ambientede trabajo. Los equipos de compresión funcionando en un ambiente sumamente sucio y hostil requerirán mayor frecuenciade todas las verificaciones de mantenimiento.

La unidad funciona automáticamente en ciclos cuando está conectada a la energía.Cuando se realizan trabajos de mantenimiento, usted puede estar expuesto a fuentesde voltaje, aire comprimido o piezas en movimiento. Pueden ocurrir lesiones personales.

Antes de realizar cualquier trabajo de mantenimiento o reparación, desconecte la fuente de energía del compresor ypurgue toda la presión de aire.

6. Una vez drenada el agua, cierre la válvula de drenaje(girando en sentido horario). Ahora el compresor de aire podrá ser guardado.

NOTA: Si la válvula de drenaje fuera del tipo enchufe, elimine toda la presión de aire. La válvula podrá entoncesser extraída, limpiada y finalmente reinstalada.

3. Si está sucio enjuague el filtro de aire con agua tibia yexprímalo hasta que seque.

4. Reponga el filtro de aire y su retén.

NOTA: Si el filtro de aire está sumamente sucio necesitaráser reemplazado. Consulte la sección "Repuestos" paraobtener el número correcto de la pieza.

MotorEl motor tiene un protector de sobrecarga térmico dereposición automática. Si el motor se sobrecalienta poralguna razón, el protector de sobrecarga apagará el motor.Debe dejar enfriar el motor antes de volverlo a arrancar. Elcompresor arrancará automáticamente después que seenfríe el motor.

Si el protector de sobrecarga apaga el motor con muchafrecuencia, verifique si hay algún posible problema de voltaje. También se puede sospechar de bajo voltaje cuando:

1. El motor no alcanza toda su potencia o velocidad.

2. Los fusibles se queman cuando se arranca el motor; las luces se atenúan y siguen atenuadas cuando el motor es arrancado y está en funcionamiento.

8. Usando un destornillador, empuje con cuidado el discode la válvula hacia arriba y hacia abajo. NOTA: Eldisco de la válvula debe moverse libremente hacia arriba y hacia abajo sobre un resorte que detiene eldisco de la válvula en la posición cerrada. Si no lohace, la válvula de retención necesita ser limpiada oreemplazada.

9. Limpie o reemplace la válvula de retención. Un solvente, tal como un removedor de pintura o de barnizpuede usarse para limpiar la válvula de retención.

10. Aplique sellador a las roscas de la válvula de retención.Vuelva a instalar la válvula de retención (gire a laderecha).

11. Vuelva a instalar la tubería de alivio de presión. Ajustelas tuercas.

12. Vuelva a instalar la tubería de salida y ajuste las tuer-cas.

13. Reponga el recubrimiento y la consola.14. Ejecute el procedimiento de puesta en marcha. Vea

"Procedimiento de Puesta en Marcha" en la sección"Operación".

Para reemplazar o limpiar la válvula deretención1. Libere toda la presión del tanque de aire. Vea "Cómo

Drenar el Tanque" en la sección "Mantenimiento".2. Desenchufe el equipo.3. Extraiga el anillos del regulador y la cubierta de la con-

sola.

4. Extraiga el recubrimiento.5. Utilizando una llave regulable, afloje la tuerca de salida

del tubo del tanque de aire y la bomba. Retire cuida-dosamente la tubería de salida de la válvula de reten-ción.

6. Utilizando una llave regulable, afloje el tubo aliviador depresión del tanque de aire y el interruptor de presión .Retire cuidadosamente la tubería de alivio de presiónde la válvula de retención.

7. Desenrosque la válvula de retención girándola hacia laizquierda usando una llave de boca de 7/8". Tome notade la orientación para volverla a ensamblar.

SERVICIO Y AJUSTESLa unidad cicla automáticamente en cuanto la energía eléctrica es conectada. Al efectuar el man-tenimiento, usted quedará expuesto a tensión viva, aire comprimido o partes en movimiento.Debido a tales circunstancias, podrían ocurrirle lesiones personales. Antes de efectuar manten-

imiento o reparación alguna, desenchufe el compresor y purgue cualquier presión de aire.

TODO TIPO DE MANTENIMIENTO Y OPERACIONES DE REPARACIÓN NO MENCIONADOS, DEBERÁN SEREFECTUADOS POR PERSONAL TÉCNICO ESPECIALIZADO.

8. Aplique sellador para caños al niple.9. Ensamble el regulador y oriéntelo tal como se indica. NOTE: La flecha indica el flujo delaire. Asegure su orientación en ladirección de la flecha.

10. Reaplique sellador decaños a la salida delmanómetro de presión y ala conexión rápida.

11. Rearme el manómetro depresión, el manómetro depresión del tanque y la conexión rápida. Oriente elmanómetro de presión de salida y el de presión deltanque de forma que permitan ser leídos. Ajuste laconexión rápida con una llave mecánica.

12. Rote el interruptor de presión a su posición correcta.13. Reponga la cubierta de la consola y el aro regulador.

4. Utilizando una llave regulable, afloje la tuerca del tubo aliviadorde presión en el tanque de aire y el interruptor de presión.

5. Utilizando una llave regulable, rote el interuptor de pre-sión tal como se muestra.

6. Extraiga la salida el manómetro de presión, elmanómetro del tanque y la conexión rápida (si estu-viese equipada) del regulador.

7. Extraiga el regulator.

ALMACENAJE

Antes de guardar su compresor de aire, asegúrese de hacerlo siguiente:

1. Revise la sección "Mantenimiento" de las páginasprecedentes y ejecute el mantenimiento programado deacuerdo a la necesidad.

2. Coloque la palanca On/Auto/Off en la posición "OFF".

3. Gire el regulador en sentido antihorario y fije la presiónde salida en cero.

4. Extraiga la herramienta neumática o el accesorio.

5. Tire del anillo de la válvula de seguridad permitiendo elpurgado del aire del tanque hasta que la presión delmismo llegue aproximadamente a 20 PSI. Suelte el anil-lo de la válvula de seguridad.

6. Drene el agua del tanque de aire abriendo la válvula dedrenaje ubicada en el fondo del tanque.

El agua se condensadentro del tanque de

aire. Si no se drena, ella corroerá debilitando laparedes del tanque de aire, originando un riesgode ruptura de sus paredes.

7. Una vez que el agua haya sido drenada, cierre la válvu-la de drenaje.

NOTA: Si la válvula de drenaje estuviese enchufada, liberetoda la presión de aire. La válvula podrá ser extraída,limpiada y luego reinstalada.

8. Proteja el cable eléctrico y las mangueras de aire dedaños (tales como ser pisoteados o pasados por enci-ma). Enróllelos en forma floja, alrededor de la manijadel compresor. (Si así estuviese equipado).

Almacene el compresor de aire en un sitio limpio y seco.

GUÍA DE DIAGNÓSTICO DE PROBLEMASEl desarrollo de reparaciones puede exponer a sitios con corriente viva, partes enmovimiento o fuentes de aire comprimido que podrían ocasionar lesiones personales.

Antes de intentar reparación alguna, desenchufe el compresor de aire y purgue toda la presión de aire del tanque.

PROBLEMA CAUSA CORRECCIÓN

El interruptor de presión no interrumpe al motor cuando el compresor alcanza la presión "decorte".

El interruptor de presión "de corte"esta calibrado demasiado alto.

Mueva la palanca On/Auto/Off a la posición "OFF", si el equipo no corta,contacte a un técnico calificado parael servicio.

Contacte a un técnico de servicio calificado.

Presión excesiva del tanque - laválvula de seguridad se dispara.

Las conexiones de los tubos no estánsuficientemente ajustadas

Ajuste las conexiones en las que elaire puede ser escuchado escapándose. Verifique las conexionescon solución jabonosa y agua. NOSOBREAJUSTE.

Las conexiones pierden aire

Pérdida de presión de aire en el interruptor de la válvula aliviadora.

Un interruptor de presión defectuosolibera la válvula.

Contacte a un técnico calificado en servicio.

Pérdida de aire en el tanque de aire oen las soldaduras del tanque de aire.

Tanque de aire defectuoso. El tanque de aire debe ser reemplaza-do. No repare la perdida.

No efectúe perforación alguna sobrela soldadura o cosa semejante sobreel tanque de aire, ello lo debilitará. Eltanque podría romperse o explotar.

Pérdida de aire entre el cabezal y elplato de válvula.

Pérdida en el sellado. Contacte un técnico calificado de ervicio.

Hay fugas de aire en la válvula deretención o dentro de ella.

Compruebe si el asiento de la válvulaestá dañado.

Una válvula de retención defectuosacausa una fuga constante de aire enla válvula de alivio de presión cuandohay presión en el tanque y se apagael compresor. Reemplace la válvula deretención. Consulte "CómoReemplazar o Limpiar la Válvula deRetención" en la sección "Operación".

La lectura de la presión en elmanómetro del regulador de presiónbaja cuando se usa un accesorio.

Es normal que ocurran "algunas" caídas de presión

Si hay una cantidad excesiva de pérdida de presión cuando se usa elaccesorio, ajuste el regulador siguiendolas instrucciones en el párrafo"Descripción de Operación" en la sección "Operación".

NOTA: Ajuste la presión regulada bajocondiciones de flujo (mientras elaccesorio está siendo usado).

Verifique y reemplace si fuese necesario.

Extraiga y limpie o reemplace.

Ajuste las conexiones.

Limpie o reemplace el filtro de entradade aire. No opere el compresor deaire sin el filtro. Consulte el párrafo"Filtro de Aire" en la sección"Mantenimiento".

El motor no funciona.

Fusible quemado, disyuntor abierto. 1. Inspeccione la caja de fusiblespara determinar si hay fusiblesquemados y reemplácelos segúnsea necesario. Reajuste eldisyuntor. No use un fusible odisyuntor con capacidad mayorque la especificada para su circuito especificado.

2. Compruebe si el fusible es el correcto. Debe usar un fusible de acción retardada.

3. Compruebe si existen condiciones de bajo voltaje y/o siel cordón de extensión es el correcto.

4. Desconecte todos los otros artefactos eléctricos del circuito u opere el compresor en su propio circuito.


El interruptor de protección de sobrecarga del motor se ha abierto.

Deje enfriar el motor y el interruptorde sobrecarga se reajustará automáticamente.

La presión del tanque excede la presión de "corte máximo" del interruptor de presión.
