Thursday, May 15th 10:00 am – 1:30 pmPrice: $95

Meet on the 1st floor at the 12th street entrance at 9:45 am for a 10:00 am departure.

See such sites as Independence Hall, Congress Hall, Betsy Ross House (interior visit), Christ Church (interior visit subject to Church schedule) and Franklin’s grave.

Next, guests will enjoy a visit to the world famous Barnes Foundation whose 800 paintings, estimated to be worth about $25 billion, include 181 paintings by Pierre-Auguste Renoir, 69 by Paul Cézanne, 59 by Henri Matisse, 46 by Pablo Picasso, just to name a few artists.

City Mansions & Country Estates

Friday, May 16th 9:00 am–1:00 pmPrice: $97

Meet on the 1st floor at the 12th street entrance at 8:45 am for a 9:00 am departure.

This tour will showcase the mansions of the Society Hill neighborhood of downtown with the country estates of Fairmount Park, including three interior home tours.

Begin in the Society Hill neighborhood, the largest concentration of original 18th and early 19th-century architecture of any place in the United States. Society Hill, named after the 18th century Society of Free Traders, is a charming district with cobblestone streets bordered by brick row houses in Federal and Georgian style.

Next we’re off to Fairmount Park where stately homes were established during the period by prominent families of the city as “country seats” or rural retreats. Some functioned as working farms, while others provided elegant, fashionable and healthy retreat from the urban environment, summer heat and periodic epidemics.
