AHA Research Funding Allocations

Outside of his work as a vice president of purchasing, Wesley Hutchings supports charitable causes for a variety of health and wellness concerns. One of the groups that receives support from Wesley Hutchings is the American Heart Association, which helps raise awareness of heart issues and provides advice on maintaining a lifestyle which supports a healthy heart.

One major area the support of people like Wes Hutchings goes to is research, as the American Heart Association spends millions of dollars each year on funding it. Much of this money goes toward heart attack and stroke research, as these issues are the most common and the fourth most common causes of death in America, respectively. Other research funding goes toward exploring conditions related to heart disease, such as diabetes and obesity.

Other American Heart Association research funding focuses on how heart disease presents itself in particular populations, such as Native American and Hispanic individuals. For every dollar donated to the American Heart Association or its affiliated organizations, no less than 28 cents ultimately goes toward research.
