All agricultural enterprises want and need to earn money. However, as today‘s farm managers you are more than just good agriculturists - you are purchasers of machines, seeds, fertilisers and pe-sticides, business administrators and also personnel and logistics managers. You have to make far-reaching decisions that directly affect the operating results of your agricultural businesses. You know that the technology you use determines

your working procedures and therefore also directly affects your profi ts.

Special equipment and technically sophi-sticated details are not always the main priority, but such completely self-evident demands as reliability, economy, comfort and simplicity of operation are at the top of the list. These are demands that are so important in large scale enterprises and for contractors, for the sole reason that

tractors are often in use for more than 1,500 hours per year.

With the current wide range of techno-logy on offer for large-scale applications, decision-making is often diffi cult and invol-ves a long process of data and information collation and consultation. Field tests and demonstrations offer the opportunity to consolidate opinions. Ultimately, however, decisions are always made for rational re-

asons, as all aspects – both economic and technical – must be taken into account in order to safeguard the success of your business.

It is therefore advantageous if a decisioncan be made for a strong brand – DEUTZ-FAHR – with a rational large tractor con-cept that concentrates on one thing – the success of you its customers – by pro-viding modern technology that more than

does justice to practical requirements. The Agrotron L is an example of such ra-tional technology. This tractor is the cul-mination of the rich experience of more than 80 years of major technological lea-dership in the agricultural machinery in-dustry. The large panoramic cab and the slim outline of the Agrotron L are unique. The comprehensive standard features include practical details and technical equipment that some competitors can-

not offer for love nor money. Operation is so simple and effi cient that all drivers are able to intuitively get to grips with it without involved training and can make use of all productive features immedia-tely.

Therefore the Agrotron L guarantees its owners productivity, value stability and profi t.

The perfecT workplace.

Relaxed and productive work is only pos-sible in pleasant surroundings with a posi-tive atmosphere. A driver needs freedom of movement and a clear arrangement of all controls. Operation of the Agrotron L is completely instinctive.

All levers and switches are logically and clearly arranged on an operating panel to the driver’s right, combined in functional groups according to frequency of use. This results in an optimally designed workplace for safe, uncomplicated operation, there-by enhancing driver productivity.

Comfortable entranceEven entering the spacious Agrotron L cab

is simple and comfortable. Galvanised, antislip steps, two full-length handrails on each side, wide-angle door opening and easyreach door handles ensure safe mounting and dismounting.

Excellent viewThe cab and entrance area are illuminated automatically when the door is opened so that the driver can also mount and dismount safely in the dark. The effective Agrotron L lighting also enhances safety and confidence and increases productivity with improved ex-ternal lighting for night work. With the option of up to 15 main and working headlights at the front and rear, an area of up to 500 m2 can be illuminated around the tractor.

Pleasantly quietWith its low interior noise level the Agro-tron L is one of the quietest tractors of its class. This is achieved with basic design features such as engines with low noise and consistent exclusion of noise-emitting and noise-transferring components from the cab. An additional insulating wall, bet-ween the engine compartment and the cab, considerably improves the noise in-sulation in this single-cell, full-body cab.

Everything in viewWith the Infocenter the driver has all trac-tor operating data in view at all times. The engine speed and operating condition are indicated on analogue displays. A central

warning display reliably indicates incorrect functions. The on-board computer, with an integrated performance monitor, provides information on the PTO speeds and travel-ling speed. The wheel slip, hours of opera-tion, the current fuel consumption, acre-age and working depth can also be seen. The transmission display shows the driver which ratio is engaged and preselected as well as the respective travelling mode.

Excellent climateThe cab’s powerful 4-stage heating and ven-tilation fan has a capacity of up to 580 m3 / h, this ensures a constant and pleasant wor-king atmosphere in no time at all. Fresh air is drawn in through filtered in-

take openings in the left and right-hand B-struts; from here short insulated air ducts distribute the air selectively through 15 adjustable nozzles. The Agro-tron L is equipped with an environmen-tally friendly compact air conditioning sy-stem that guarantees fast temperature adjustment. Switch-over from fresh to circulating air is with the flick of a lever, resulting in de-humidified air clearing mi-sting windows. A slight overpressure in the cab also prevents the ingress of dust or contaminants.

Tinted windows and roller blinds on the front and rear windscreens protect the driver from excessive exposure to the

sun‘s rays. A cab roof with over-hang, available as an accessory, provides additi-onal shading if required.

Co-driver seatThe folding, standard co-driver seat is perfectly integrated into the cab entrance. With a safety-bar and childproof door lock it is also extremely safe. An integrated compartment in the backrest of the co-driver seat provides room for documents.

Approval for 100% bio-diesel: saves costs and protects the environment.

Powerful, economic andenvironmentally friendlyMany can construct engines. But the real task is to build strong and efficient engines which comply with the effective emission standards and still set their own trend. The DEUTZ engine philosophy comes down to power, economy and en-vironmentally friendliness.

We develop for agricultureDEUTZ-FAHR uses a whole host of in-telligent technologies for this, aimed at increasing performance, lowering fuel consumption and reducing harmful emis-sions. This bio diesel initiative is only one of several forward-looking projects.

Particularly, the changing applications in agriculture require extraordinary know-how and longtime experience in engi-ne construction. But there is one thing

all those applications have in common: power has to be available when it’s needed. And the fuel consumption has to be redu-ced at the same time. Although this sounds paradoxical, the engineers at DEUTZ-FAHR have managed to achieve it with the inno-vative DPC (DEUTZ-FAHR Power Control). By combining the electronic engine control (EMC) and the DEUTZ Common-Rail-Tech-nology, a complex but very efficient engine control system has been developed .

Powerful, strong, efficientThe 6 cylinder high-tech DEUTZ turbo die-sel engines in the Agrotron L come with innovative DEUTZ Common-Rail-Technolo-gy (DCR) as standard. And thanks to the DPC the engines deliver constant power, high overpower and maximum torque. The driver can therefore relax while working with minimal gearshift changes because the engine is very flexible and yet offers

sufficient reserves of power, and reduced fuel consumption at all times. At the top speed of 50 km / h the engine only reaches a speed of 2,100 rpm and at 40 km / h it is just 1,680 rpm. That saves fuel makes the tractor far more comfortable for the operator.

Quiet for both the driver and the environmentThe reduction of noise has also been given special attention. Potential noise sources are eliminated during the very design of the engines. For example, a rigid, ribbed crank housing, soft combu-stion thanks to 6-hole injection nozzles, reliable waste gate turbo chargers on the Common Rail models, double ca-sing silencers and a flexible intake and exhaust pipe mounting system reduce noise where it arises.

Every litre of bio-diesel saves hard cash. At a fuel consumption rate of 30,000 l / year and an average price saving of 15 ct / l, the overall saving over five years would be 22,000 Euro.

The innovative dPC system, fully electronic engine control and dEUTZ Common Rail technology deliver much lower levels of fuel consumption.

efficienT and convenienT ShifTing.

Transmissions for large tractors must be robust and reliable. In addition to close speed ratios, today’s demands for stan-dard features include Powershift, Po-wershuttle and practical PTO equipment.

18 speed shifting under loadThe 18-stage powershift transmission, in two groups that can also be shifted on the run, provides optimum shifting comfort. With 27 forward and reverse gears (inclu-ding the standard creeper speed group) the transmission is closely and practically graduated and is easy to shift. The possible speeds range – depending on the type and tyres – from 580 m / h to 40 km / h. In the first group of 9 speeds the working speed reaches up to 12 km / h. The second group starts at 10 km / h. As a result all main field jobs can be completed without changing from the first group.

More than just a powershift: Automatic-Powershift (APs)The powershift speeds can be shifted

automatically, dependent on the load condition, with the newly developed APS feature. The respective load of the engi-ne and the engine speed are used as a control impulse. The driver can infinitely vary the sensitivity of the system with a rotary dial. The clutch can be actuated with either the foot pedal or with a but-ton on the multi-function lever. 18 speed shifts can be made without using the clutch pedal.

Reversing transmissionWith the reversing transmission it is possible to pull off from a stationary po-sition or change the direction of travel (reverse / forwards) without using the clutch. The engaged speed and powershift stage are retained when the direction is changed or these can be programmed to suit the operating conditions. The shut-tle lever is especially advantageous when working on the headland. The driver‘s right hand is free to operate other func-tions.

Two PTO speedsThe rear PTO with two standard speeds (540 E and 1,000 rpm) permits a wide range of applications. The bolted, inter-changeable PTO stub can be fitted with a number of different profiles. The PTO can be operated both from the cab and also with pushbuttons on the rear mudguard. The electrohydraulic control ensures mo-dulated, low-wear PTO start-up. When the rear powerlift is actuated the PTO can automatically switch on and off. Operating errors are prevented and mounted imple-ments protected from damage.

Front PTOThe front PTO with a speed of 1,000 rpm is driven directly by the engine and elec-trohydraulically activated with modulation at the touch of a button. It runs indepen-dently of the rear PTO. Due to the modu-lation provided by the wet plate clutch, implement start-up is always smooth irrespective of the load.

The powershift transmission provides a total of 18 speeds that are shifted electrohydraulically under load in two groups. Changing from the low to the high group – and back again – is electronically controlled.

The Powershuttle lever allows the driver to change the direction of travel quickly and easily without using the clutch. nothing could be simpler.

A powerful load-sensing hydraulic sy-stem with a tremendous lifting power of 10 tonnes and a maximum pump output of 113 l is a standard feature and en-sures superior hydraulic power for all applications.

Load sensingThe system runs with an axial piston vari-able displacement pump that is controlled by the hydraulic consumers. When the consumer draws off oil, the system pres-sure drops. The variable displacement pump then instantly provides more oil so that the pressure required by the consu-mers is maintained. The consumer with the highest pressure requirements deter-mines the current system pressure.

vibration dampingDuring fast road travel vibration oscilla-tions can occur in the hydraulic system that are caused by the implement boun-cing. These can have a considerable ef-fect on driving safety and comfort. When vibration damping is activated (automa-tically from 8 km / h onwards), vibration and bounce is detected by the electro-nic components on the load sensing pins and compensated with selective and fast counteraction by the powerlift.

High lifting forceLarge-dimension lifting cylinders permit a tremendous lifting force of up to 10 tonnes. Fast, reliable and safe coupling and uncoupling of implements by additio-nal actuation of the powerlift on the rear mudguard. The lower links are category

III with quick couplings and automatic stabilisers as standard.

Four remote valvesA total of up to four remote valves are standard features on the Agroton L. The-se are operated with a cross-gate lever, single lever or button in the armrest.

Power-BeyondWith the optional power beyond connec-tion the entire oil flow can be routed from the axial piston pump directly to an im-plement that has a separate load-sensing capability. As a result equipment such as a potato harvester, a self-loading fo-rage box or an air-seeder, can be directly supplied with an uninterrupted flow of oil from the axial piston pump.

SecUre driving eXperience.

True driving comfort only starts when all relevant aspects are already taken into account at the start of the design phase of a new tractor series. The engineers at DEUTZ-FAHR have succeeded in im-plementing an integrated suspension and driving comfort concept which is without equal in this tractor class.

supreme road holdingRobust front axles, tough 4 wheel drive, long wheelbase of 2.98 m and a tight steering angle of 55° ensure maximum manoeuvrability with smooth and respon-sive steering. The Agrotron L is equipped with a 4wheel drive system that can be simply and positively activated with illu-minated buttons and includes differential locks with a locking value of 100 percent on both axles. The respective operating conditions are additionally shown on the Info-display. All the longlife clutches and locks are oil-immersed and can be activa-ted and deactivated electrohydraulically both under load and in the event of slip.

All four wheels are safely braked by the reliable wet multi-disc brakes.

Front axle suspensionThe Agrotron L can be equipped with front axle suspension, a feature that consi-derably enhances both driving safety and comfort. The oscillating front axle is ro-bustly supported in a rocker arm linked to two hydraulic rams. Suspension is hydro-pneumatic and progressive, i.e. its effect is heightened with an increase in ballast.

Pneumatic cab suspensionThe optional pneumatic cab suspension features load-sensing level control sup-plied by the compressed air system of the tractor; this system provides optimum driving comfort. Irrespective of the cab load, the spring travel is always + 40 mm and reduces vibration considerably even at low speeds. The suspension is progres-sive, i.e. its effect is heightened with an increase in ballast.

The cab with pneumatic suspension provi-des the highest degree of comfort, compa-rable to that of a modern truck. With the perfect coordination of front axle and cab suspension plus the benefi t of the driver’s pneumatic seat suspension the Agrotron L really does provide unprecedented shock absorption and driving comfort.

Precise and smooth steeringA steering system as it should be: pre-cise, smooth and always positive due to the employment of a separate steering pump. The use of large 34” front tyres is possible at any time. Excellent manoeu-vrability is made possible thanks to a 55° steering angle and pivoting front mudgu-ards. Depending on the tyres fi tted, the turning radius is only 5.65 m.

Axle control managementPractical situations that are both typical and frequent could be: ploughing in soil of varying density; road travel with hea-vily loaded trailers or, working in diffi cult traction conditions. The axle control ma-nagement (ASM) fully and automatically controls the 4wheel drive and both diffe-rential locks. The front and rear differen-tial locks (100 percent locking value) and the 4wheel drive are activated and deac-tivated under load, depending on steering angle and speed, as required. Wheel slip is also monitored and reduced using the optional radar sensor. ASM ensures ma-ximum tractive power, travelling comfort and a high degree of operational safety even under the toughest conditions.

Can standardised programmes really do justice to varying applications in practical agriculture? Or would it not be better if the driver could automate the functions that he requires for the job in hand? Ide-ally these operating sequences should be recalled at the simple touch of a button on the operating lever.

simple programmingWith the multifunction operating lever and the SDS function individual opera-ting sequences can be programmed by the driver and activated at the touch of a button on the operating lever. The ope-rating sequences are centrally and con-secutively shown on the info-display. The next programmed function is highlighted on the display, so that the driver knows at all times which function he can acti-vate next. To prepare the system for pro-gramming operating sequences – this is possible when the tractor is stationary or in motion – it is only necessary to press the button on the multi-function opera-ting lever. The programmed functions are of course stored in the memory when the tractor is stopped. This is the ultimate in simplicity and practicality.

Increase in productivity ensuredIn this way up to eight different function commands, from a total of 25 available tractor functions, can be programmed to individual operating sequences. The dri-ver customises his Agrotron L for each job and considerably increases produc-tivity with the one-hand operation of the tractor functions. Operating sequences also enhance operating safety. Manual operating faults are not possible and the driver does not need to search for the switches on the multi-function armrest. The driver is then able to concentrate fully on his work, ensuring more produc-tivity and safety.

The active sds operating sequence is shown on the central info-display. The next function in the sequence is highlighted.

Fast daily maintenanceDaily maintenance is simple and completed in next to no time with the rearward ope-ning angle of the engine cowling. Pneumatic springs keep the cowling in the open positi-on. All important components and assem-blies are easily accessible, without tools, for simple maintenance work. The engine oil level can be checked without opening the cowling. At the rear axle a large, easily visible sight glass indicates the transmissi-on and hydraulic oil levels.

Long maintenance intervalsThe regular engine maintenance intervals

are long – in fact uniquely long. The engine oil only requires changing every 500 hours and the valve adjustment only needs che-cking every 1,500 hours of operation.

1 The transmission oil level and the dip-stick are easily accessible. Long mainte-nance intervals lower the operation costs.

2 The engine air filter is easily accessible. The air intake, situated in a low-dust area and the ejector dust separation feature, en-sure that the maintenance intervals of the filter are very long.

3 The battery is easily accessible on the right side of the tractor.

4 All fuses and switching relays are well protected in the cab and are easily acces-sible in the right-hand rear fender panel.

5 Both cab air filters are located at ea-sily accessible positions in the B struts. The filters can be cleaned and replaced without tools. Active carbon filters are available upon request.
