THE PROBLEM

The aging brain is one of the vitalprocesses that cause major effects onhuman health, for the obvious importanceof this organ is to the proper functioningof our body and even our mental balance.

Also we need to know how and why thebrain ages and, derived from this, if there

is a way to stop this decline, is a source ofimportant research in contemporaryneuroscience.

HYPOTHESIS

My hypothesis consists in demostrate

how is possible to get young the brain,

through a scientific method, that is about

an alteration in the gene Nodo 1.

Also avoiding bad habits as alcohol or

drugs, and eating healthy food we canconservate the normal growing age of thebrain.

INVESTIGATION

Recently researchers at theMedicine University of Yalehave identified a gene in thebrain of rats is causing the

loss of plasticity in adultbrains.

As is known, the plasticity isthe ability to learn newthings, to create new synaptic

connections and also torecover more easily andpromptly brain injury.

According to this study, the activity of Nodoreceptor 1 suppresses the plasticity of the

adult brain, for this removing the geneticscript that resulted in reaching this age, therats with which they experienced maintainedplasticity levels his youth.

But even more surprising is that even in thecase of adult, block the operation of this genereset your brain, returning the plasticity ofthe adolescent age.

According to one of the pioneers of theinvestigation, Stephen Strittmatter, thefunction of this gene is to synthesize "themolecules that the brain needs to transitionfrom adolescence to adulthood", for its partVincent Coates, it added that this "suggeststhat we can turn back the clock of a adultbrain and recover from trauma in the sameway that children recover."

The finding presents an optimistic picture forthose who have suffered some type of braininjury, which in most cases causes a personto have to relearn again operations, such ashand movement is basic believe. If the

results of this research can be extended tohumans, this feedback would be significantlyfaster.

CONCLUSION

As we want to demostrate in the hypothesis,as we can see in the results of the scientificoperations in the rats, itspossible the

recover the young brain through theplasticity.

We know a lot about early braindevelopment, but surprisingly little of whathappens with this in late adolescence.
