  • The Agilent MSD ProductivityChemStation is a full-featured32-bit integrated GC/MS soft-ware application for all the tasksassociated with GC/MS dataacquisition, data analysis, andreporting. Supported on Windows Vista and XP, theMSD Productivity ChemStationsoftware controls multipleGC/MSs and GCs and consists ofthe following functionality(Figure 1):

    Integration with AgilentOpenLAB ECM

    Data archival and retrieval isenabled seamlessly through the integration of GC/MSDChemStation and Agilent Open-LAB ECM. The GC/MSD Chem-Station integrates common ECMfunctions within its user inter-face, allowing organizations tostore and organize data frommultiple instruments in one cen-tral secure repository withoutdisrupting current workflow(Figure 2).

    High-Performance Synchronous SIM/Scan

    High-Performance SynchronousSIM/Scan is an acquisition modepossible on the 5975C SeriesMSD that enables collection ofboth SIM data and full scan datain a single run. SIM dwell timeas low as 1 millisecond allowsextremely narrow 600 millisec-ond chromatographic peaks tobe acquired in SIM/Scan.

    Automated Selected IonMonitoring (SIM) andSIM/Scan SetupComplex SIM and SIM/Scanmethods are difficult to set upmanually. Retention times (RTs)and ions must be entered foreach compound.

    The AutoSIM Setup simplifiesthis process for you by creatingan acquisition method with RTs,selected ions or ion ranges, andidentification ratios from anexisting quantitation method(Figure 4).

    SemiQuantSemiQuant allows you to esti-mate a compounds concentra-tion based on the response for asimilar compound, such as ahomolog or congener. Entiremethods can be easily convertedto SemiQuant by using GlobalSemiQuant, while Specific Semi-Quant allows you to add Semi-Quant compounds to any method(Figure 5). Quantitation reportshandle the SemiQuant com-pounds separately from targetcompounds for easy identifica-tion within reports (Figure 1).

    The Agilent MSD ProductivityChemStation can be configuredfor general Enhanced Quantita-tion, EnviroQuant, DrugQuant,and Aromatics in Gasoline modes.Each of these modes providesadditional entries or reports specific to these applications.

    eMethodseMethods is short for electronicmethods % a quick and easy wayto obtain packaged applicationsolutions from Agilent or toshare and distribute your ownpersonal applications.

    eMethods allow you to easilypackage and transfer methodsbetween the Agilent 5973 Seriesand 5975C Series MSDs.

    You may also download any newAgilent eMethod from the Agilent Web site and import thatmethod to your Agilent 5975C or5973 Series MSD and receive theentire method without anymanual editing errors.

    RTL methods will maintain con-stant RTs % eliminating the needto edit method RTs after maintenance or when transfer-ring a method to another instrument.

    By making an adjustment in theinlet pressure, the RTs on agiven system can be closelymatched to those on anothersystem. Figure 6 shows how theshifts in RT are fixed by RTLwhen a column is changed.
