The Panhellenic Creed

We, as undergraduate members of women's fraternities, stand for good scholarship, for guarding of good health, for maintenance of fine standards, and for serving, to the best of our ability, our college community.

Cooperation for furthering fraternity life, in harmony with its best possibilities, is the ideal that shall guide our fraternity activities.

We, as fraternity women, stand for service through the development of character inspired by the close contact and deep friendship of individual fraternity and Panhellenic life.

The opportunity for wide and wise human service, through mutual respect and helpfulness, is the tenet by which we strive to live.

• If your chapter is participating in any holiday philanthropy or service, please let me know. This can include food drives, clothing/coat drive, adopting families via Angel trees, etc. University Newsroom/Communications has reached out for stories.

o This is a great opportunity to showcase the positive things our community does.

• Rosters were emailed out on Friday and are due Tuesday, November 26h by 5:00 pm. o New Members who joined this semester should remain listed as N (New Member) o Members graduating in Fall 2019 should remain listed as A (Active). o There is a new column titled “Semester Joined” – if you know the semester a member joined the

organization please include it.

• Civic Engagement completed in October is due on TRACS this Friday, Nov. 8th. If there are any questions or issues that would lead to it being late need to be sent to me BEFORE the deadline.

o If your chapter donated food to School Fuel during Greek Week, be sure to report using the Non-Monetary Philanthropy Conversion chart found on page. 41 of the Operations Manual.

o Share this website with your members each week at chapter. This is not something that should only be communicated once.

o I recommend picking 1-2 events, sharing them with members, and letting them know if they don’t like the sound of those events that they can visit the website and find many more opportunities.

• Emerging Leaders Academy (ELA) has 3 more sessions. Remember these workshops are designed for members in their first or second year and are meant to help develop them for leadership/officer positions but anyone can attend. They do count for Educational Programming/Leadership Development for Civic Engagement.

o Nov 7th 4:30-5:30 LBJ – Boko’s Lounge ▪ Care-frontation/Mindful Communication- students will learn tips and tricks to make

difficult conversations a bit easier and reframe “confrontation” to something that can be done with care, Care-frontation!

o Nov. 14th 4:30-5:30 LBJ 4-1.9 ▪ Diversity/Identity- In a partnership with The Office of Student Diversity and Inclusion

attendees will learn skills to be better prepared to lead a chapter full of members who have different personalities and backgrounds.

o Nov. 21st 4:30-5:30 4-1.9 ▪ Resume/Cover Letter Builder- Victor Hernandez, Assistant Director of Campus

Recreation, will share some of the good and bad he has seen throughout his career in terms of resumes and work with members to create a resume that will surely stand out! (Materials and resources will also be provided by Career Services.)

• Fraternal Values Summit (FVS)- March 28th

o FSL Leadership Conference to help officers and members of your chapter to get to know their community better, feel more confident in their roles, and develop into change making leaders!

o Make sure this date makes it on to your chapter calendars and nothing is scheduled. It is mandatory and will be a part of the Chapter Awards and Advancement Program.

o More details will be available in the Spring.

• Transitions/Operations Manual – as you start preparing for your own officer transitions be sure to be aware of the resources available to you and the other officers on your board.

o If you have officers that you feel should meet with me or another FSL staff member during their transition that is absolutely an option, just send me an email. (I often meet with delegates and community service/philanthropy chairs.)

o If there are resources that you think need to be added to the Operations Manual please send them to me or DOS-FSL@txstate.edu.

o I will be doing a big update over the winter break and want to be sure anything they need is in there.
