IntroBacked by over 16 years of research and experience, Aftermath employs a systematic approach to cleaning that ensures each and every trauma scene meets or exceeds hospital-grade sanitation standards.
Aftermath’s trained service technicians are skilled in the removal of harmful biological contaminants as well as any lingering odors. As remediation specialists, Aftermath’s primary goal is to preserve the customer’s property and return the home to a safe, livable condition.

The Three ZonesFor maximum sanitation, Aftermath technicians establish three zones, using plastic sheeting and bio-tape to separate the contaminated area from other parts of the building. By breaking down the scene into distinct areas, technicians prevent cross-contamination from occurring between clean and affected rooms.
• The Control Zone is the affected area where work will take place.
• The Buffer Zone is where technicians don and doff personal protective equipment, as well as fill disposal boxes.
• The Clean Zone is designated to store tools and equipment prior to their exposure to contaminants, in order to prevent cross contamination.

The Stages of CleanupDuring all stages of cleanup, Aftermath technicians are fully protected by Personal Protective Equipment: respiratory gear, a double layer of gloves, and hazmat suits designed especially for biohazard recovery.
• Cleaning: It’s impossible to sanitize an area that is visibly contaminated with bio, dirt, or other debris. Aftermath technicians start by removing all traces of these elements from the control zone. Furniture and personal property that cannot be remediated must be disposed of as medical waste. Some items require disassembling before they can be properly thrown away. Technicians also set up a HEPA air scrubber to isolate and contain airborne particles within the zone.
• Sanitization: After cleaning, technicians treat the control zone with disinfectants in order to bring the affected area to the highest level of sanitization. Proper disinfection requires surfaces to be sprayed at precise intervals in accordance with manufacturer instructions. Following treatment, the crew wipes all surfaces manually a second time before testing for sanitation.
• Deodorization: In the final step, Aftermath uses a deodorizer to eliminate the possibility of lingering odors
