Proceeds from the valentines race will be used to purchasesoftware for an MRI Breast Coil for the HamiltonGeneral Hospital.Please help us make breast MRI available to all women!Women are being cured of breast cancer at an ever increasing rate largelydue to earlier detection afforded by advances in medical imaging technologysuch as mammography and ultrasound. Breast MRI is the newest and mostadvanced tool at the Radiologist's disposal in the early detection of breastcancer. It is of particular value in evaluating young women and those whohave a family history of breast cancer. Computer Aided Detection or CAD isrobust software that analyses the large data set produced by the MRIexamination. It points out areas of concern to the Radiologistand has ability to detect cancer before it is apparent to thehuman eye. Breast MRI is the most powerful tool currentlyavailable for the early detection of breast cancer, andCAD allows it to be used to its fullest potential.
