•After 350 cycles of ASTM C666 Procedure B (freezing in air) none of the cores showed any visual indication of deterioration. •Reported mass loss in ASTM C666 was due to loss of dried saw-cut residue material that was retained in the cut portion of the joint prior to testing. •After 25 cycles of ASTM C672, all of the cores exhibited minor scaling at the pavement surface. The cores are currently at 35 cycles, and maintain a visual rating of 1 (very slight scaling) with scaling depths on the order of tenths of a millimeter. •One core from each test site was cut into slabs and polished. A comparison of the polished cross-sections indicates a tendency for more branching during the propagation of
