AFFIES GOLF FESTIVAL Speed up play It is the responsibility of every player to finish his round on time. In order to speed up play the following points must be taken into consideration:

• Play ready golf: when a player reaches his ball and it is safe to play, he can play his shot even if another player’s ball is further from the hole.

• When reaching the green, place your bag on the side closest to the next tee-box.

• When finished on the green, leave quickly and fill in scorecards on the next tee-box.

• Halfway is a grab and go. No sit downs.

• Always keep up with the group in front of you. Marshalls will be on the course and your whole 4-ball will be penalised for slow play.

• If in doubt, always hit a provisional ball.

• If your 4-ball were to fall behind, you must make up time by “putting out” on the greens. Every player to putt must not mark his ball but continue until his ball is in the hole.

• Walk fast but take your time when playing a shot.

• Always adhere to the rules and etiquette of golf.

Pretoria Boys High

School

Boys High is one of the great South African schools, not because of its grounds and buildings but rather because of the calibre of person it produces. In the 1880’s the South African Government built a “Staatsmodelskool”. The building was changed into a prison and at this time Sir W Churchill was imprisoned here. Later it was renamed Pretoria Boys High School and became the first “Milner” school in Transvaal.
