What is ATPS?
ATPS Vision
To become the leading international centre of excellence and reference in science, technology and innovation systems research, training and
capacity building, communication and sensitization, knowledge brokerage, policy
advocacy and outreach in Africa.
ATPS Mission
To improve the quality of science, technology and innovation systems research and policy making in
Africa by strengthening capacity for science and technology knowledge generation,
communication and dissemination, use and mastery for sustainable development in Africa.
ATPS Overall Objective
To develop Africa’s STI capacity (knowledge basis & infrastructure, knowledge circulation &
networks, knowledge conditions & policies) today for sustainable African development
tomorrow.

K10 Operates in 3 Departments:Research and Training (Coordinates Thematic Research & Training programs); Science Communications and Outreach (Cooridnates Knowledge Valorisation and Policy Advocacy); and Finance and Administration (Coordinates Network Adninistration and Financial Controls as per ATPS Policy Manual). The Secretariat is governed by a Secretariat management Committee chaired by the Executive Director. A dedicated National Chpater's Policy Liaison Officer participates in the SMC to ensure that the policy needs of the member countries are adequately addressed.Kevin, 22/01/2009
K11 An external Advisory Committee of Key international experts who provide independent quality assurrance, advices on strategic activities, policy drivers and needs, etc. (Regional Representatives of the Chapters are Ex Officio members on the Advisory Committee to ensure that the African context is now overshadowed by global policy drivers. This Committee operates only via the electronic media (e-mails, video and teleconferences, targetted telephone calls, etc) to ensure more dynamic and continuous engagement at least financial costs and environmental externalities. members will be invited to attend the annual general meetings only.Kevin, 22/01/2009
