trafficked across international borders each year, approximately
80 percent are women and girls and up to 50 percent are minors

Use of DNA Testing to Prevent Human Trafficking
In January 2011, more than 70 people including 25 children from Haiti arrived at an airport in Bolivia from Lima. Visa problems stopped them on their way to Brazil or Argentina
Bolivian Police suspicions opened an investigation. The Bolivia Forensic Research Institute, a DNAProkidslaboratory, performed DNA testing using Bode swabs and the Identifiler® Direct kit
All the children were being trafficked: 13 were returned to their families in Haiti who were searching for them
