There have been a few changes to the City League coaching structure toaccommodate my move to the Capital 1 Reserves coaching position.Danny “DP” Power has been appointed City 1 Coach, Adnan Muratovricwill coach the City 2 team, and Gervase Tuxworth is taking the reins forCity 4. City 3 remains unchanged and continues to be led by Lee Churchill.

I would like to mention that all City teams are competing well in theirrespective leagues, but once again injuries, suspensions andunavailability have hit all teams hard... Keep up the hard work though asevery team has the potential to challenge for a spot in the top 4!

Here is a rundown of the City League seasons so far-

City 1 are currently sitting in 7th place (out of 10 teams) after seven rounds, but are onlyone win away from cracking the top 4 and have a game in hand. A strong 3-1 win againsttraditional heavyweight Redlands Utd ranks as a season highlight to date.City 2 occupy 6th place (out of 10 teams) on the league ladder. They are developing areputation as a side that finish matches strongly, and have already notched up two lastminute wins this season.City 3 have recorded two wins from seven starts and are currently 7th in the league (out of10 teams). The highlight of their season so far has been a 3-0 win against top 4 sideMitchelton FC.City 4 are also sitting in 7th place (out of 10 teams). They have notched up wins againstToowong FC and Southside Eagles. Matt Steinberg's form has been promising and he iscurrently the team's leading scorer with 3 goals.

The last few weeks have been a difficult period for the squad. We've had toface the challenges of dealing with an interrupted fixture schedule; losingkey players to promotion, injury and suspension; and playing three of thetop four teams in the league. Unfortunately, this has has seen us drop from3rd in the league to 7th. Also, due to the club-wide coaching restructure,veteran player Adnan Muratovic has taken control of the team, replacingDanny Power who has stepped into to the City 1 position. Despite thesechallenges, the commitment and attitude of the lads must be praised astraining attendance and effort on match day has not waned.

This week the team faces University who, while currently in 6th place, aretraditionally a powerhouse in City League football. Again, there are likely tobe a number of forced changes to our line-up, but as always there iscomplete confidence in the squad depth and there is no doubt that whoeveris called upon will perform admirably in true Annerley spirit.

City 2 Season Update

Previous Men's Results...It was a great weekend for the Capital 1 and Capital 1 Reserves at Elder Oval last Friday. In a thrillingCapital 1 game, two late goals gave Annerley a fantastic 2-1 win over league leaders, North Pine. TheReserves extended their unbeaten streak to four games with a 1-0 victory. City 1 slogged out a nil alldraw against a physical Southside Eagles. The City 2 and 4 teams both travelled out to GrangeThistle, but unfortunately lost 3-0 and 2-1 respectively. City 3 went down 3-0 against UQ.

I prefer to play on thewing, but I'm just ashappy upfront.
