Pay and grade:

The selected candidates for the post at Sl.1 i.e. Operator-cum-Technician Boiler Operationshallbe appointed inS-3 grade with an initial pay of Rs.9160 /- in the scale of pay of Rs.9160/- -3%-13150/-. Other statutory benefits&allowances are admissible as applicable to regular employees of the Company.The pay scale is under revision.

The selected candidates for the post at Sl.2 & Sl.3 i.e. Operator-cum-Technician(Trainee) & Attendant-cum-Technician (Trainee) Cable Jointing, shallwork as Trainees to acquire various skills, for a minimum period oftwo years which can be extended by another two years as per requirement. The selected candidates will be paidconsolidated pay during training period as per rates given below:

In addition to Basic Pay, the above post(s) carry benefits such as CPF, Gratuity, Industrial DA, Conveyanceallowance, free medical facility, Leave Travel Concession/Leave Travel Assistance etc. as admissible and asper rules of the company.

Reservation:

Reservation will be provided as per the Presidential Directives for the reserved category of candidates.

In case of PWD candidates, the posts are reserved for Orthopaedically Handicapped (One Leg affected, OneArm affected) with minimum 40% disability.

Reservation for PWDs& Ex Servicemen will be on horizontal basis.

Eligibility Criteria:

Age Maximum age as on 01.03.2012:- Sl.1 - 30 years; Sl.2 & 3 28 years.

However, relaxation in upper age limit will be provided as follows:Upper age limit is relaxable by 5 years for SC/ST and 3 years for OBC (for non-creamy layer)candidates with respect to post reserved for them. Upper age limit is relaxable by 10 years for PWDcandidates. Cumulative age relaxation is applicable for those PWDcandidates who belong toSC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer) category. Age relaxation for ex-serviceman(ESM) as per Govt.Directives.

SelectionProcedure

Eligible candidates are required to appear for an objective type written test followed by Interview.

After the written test, category wise merit lists of successful candidates(arranged in descendingorder of marks) will be drawn up.

Candidates will be called for interview on the basis of their position in the merit list for written test inthe ratio of 1:4.

The final category wise merit list of candidates successful after interview (arranged in descendingorder of marks) will be made on the basis of the aggregate marks obtained by the candidates(written test marks plus interview marks).

The candidates from the final category wise merit list will be sent for medical examinationas per nos.of vacant position for that category and those found fit will be issued offer of appointment.

Note :

a) Application must be accompanied by the prescribed application fee and processing fee through challan.

b) State bank of India (SBI) has been authorized to collect the application/ processing fee in a specially openedPower Jyoti Current A/c No. 32336462661 at SBI, Durgapur Main Branch (Branch Code-0074), Durgapur,

in favour ofSTEEL AUTHORITY OF INDIA-DSP.

c) Candidate may also note that a certain amount will be paid by him/her as Bank Charges to the collectionbranch of SBI in addition to the applicable application/ processing fee.

d) The SBI branches will accept fee from 11-06-2012to11-07-2012 during working hours.

e) Fee shall not be collected by any other mode. Fee once paid shall not be refunded under anycircumstances.

Location of written test centre: Kolkata

GENERAL CONDITIONS:

1. Posting will only be in Durgapur Steel Plant in Durgapur, West Bengal.

2. The date, time and place of the selection process will be intimated to the eligible candidatesin due course

through e-mail/ SMS/ uploading on SAIL website.

3. No travelling expenses would be payable to candidates called for Written Test& Medical examination.Travellingexpenses to the extent of 2

ndclass sleeper rail fare for the shortest route will be reimbursed only for SC/ST/PWD

candidates, on production of proof of journey performed to the candidates appearing for interview.

4. Candidates presently employed in Govt./Semi-Govt./PSU shall have to produce No Objection Certificate (NOC)from the employer at the time of interview. In case, the candidates fails to produce the certificate his candidature

will not be considered.

5. Candidatesadvised by the local employment exchange will also have to apply on line in the prescribedapplication format along with the requisite fees as indicated in this advertisement, failing which they will not beconsidered for selection process.

6. Candidates applying for more than one post should register separately with separate application/ processingfees.

7. Shortlisted candidates belonging to SC/ST category called for interview will be required to produce ScheduledCaste/ Scheduled Tribe Certificate issued by the Competent Authority in the prescribed format as available oncompanys websitewww.sail.co.in.All certificates should be either in Hindi or English only.

8. Shortlisted candidates belonging to OBC category called for interview will be required to produce OtherBackward Class Certificate issued in the current financial year by the Competent Authority and self declaration inthe prescribed format as available on companys website www.sail.co.in. The OBC candidates who belong to

CREAMY LAYER are not entitled for OBC concession and such candidates have to indicate their category asGeneral.All certificates should be either in Hindi or English only.

9. For claiming the benefits admissible to PWDs under the Act, shortlisted candidates called for interview will berequired to produce Disability Certificate issued by the Competent Authority in the format as available oncompanys website www.sail.co.in.They have to satisfy the relaxed Physical Standard required for the post.Allcertificates should be either in Hindi or English only.

10. Candidature of a candidate is liable to be rejected at any stage of therecruitment process or after recruitment orjoining, if any informationprovided by the candidate is found to be false or is not found inconformity with eligibilitycriteria mentioned in the advertisement.

11. SAIL/DSP reserves the right to reject any application or cancel the candidature or the whole process oftest/interview, without assigning any reason thereof and no enquiry or correspondence will be entertained in thisconnection.

12. Bringing influence at any stage of the selection process will disqualify the candidature.

13. In case, large nos. of applicationis received, short listing will be done. Mere fulfilling of the eligibility criteria willnot entitle the applicant to be considered for the selection process.

14. Candidates must ensure that they possess the required Physical Standard.Candidates should be free fromorganic disease of any sort and should not be subject to vertigo or disease of heart, lung or kidney. Appointmentof candidates (short listed after interview) will be subject to their passing the companys medical examination asper standard laid down under SAILs Medical & Health Policy.

15. The Management reserves the right to fill or not to fill all or any of the above positions without assigning anyreason whatsoever, in which case SAIL/DSP is not liable to compensate the applicant for the consequential

damages.

16. The advertisement is available at SAIL website www.sail.co.inonly. Any subsequent changes if made in theemployment notice shall be communicated through the website. Candidates are advised to keep themselvesupdated of the changes if any.

17. Candidates have to submit copy of Registration Slip and SAIL-DSP s copy ofchallan at the time of the writtentest. Else the candidates will not be allowed to appear for the written test.

18. Court of jurisdiction for any dispute will be at Durgapur, West Bengal.

HOW TO APPLY:

1. Eligible and interested candidates would be required to apply online only through SAILs website

www.sail.co.inat the link Careers with SAIL. No other mode of application shall be accepted.

2. Before registering the application on the website, candidates should ensure the following:

a) Have a valid e-mail ID and Mobile No., which should remain valid for at least two years.

b) Have latest passport size colour photograph as well as photograph of own signature in digital format (.jpg or.jpeg file only, each less than 500 kb size) for uploading with the application.Same photograph should beaffixed for the entire selection process whenever required.

3. Category (General/SC/ST/OBC Non Creamy layer/PWD/ESM) once submitted in the application cannot bechanged and no benefit of other category will be subsequently admissible.

4. Download bank challan from the website after filling in the required details.

5. After applying online, candidate is required to download the system generated Registration Slip with uniqueregistration number and other essential details and retain a copy of the same.

6. Candidate must write his/her name as it appears in the educational certificate of Matriculation or equivalentexamination. In case of change of name at a later stage necessary documentary proof to be submitted at thetime of interview.

7. Candidates are not required to send any document for appearing in the written test. However, candidatesshortlisted for interview would be required to furnish documents regarding proof of date of birth, qualification,caste category, PWD/ESM status etc. at the time of interview as per intimation given to the shortlistedcandidates.

8. While filling online application, candidates must carefully follow all the steps. Incomplete application/ applicationwithout fee/ application not fulfilling any eligibility criteria will be rejected summarily. No communication will beentertained from the applicants in this regard.

9. Flow chart for on-line registration :

a) Go towww.sail.co.in

b) Click on Careers with SAIL at bottom left.

c) Click on jobs at SAIL (or SAIL Cadre & DSP mentioned on left side).

d) Click on job you want to apply.

e) Read all the information regarding the job then click Apply now.

f) Enter e-mail ID and password.

g) Fill-in all the information as required in application form.

h) Click Preview Application.

i) Check all the information you filled, if you find any issues, you can edit. If you dont, click submit.

j) Click on Print Challanand take printout of Bank Challan.

k) Approach a branch of SBI for depositing the fee for proper crediting of amount in the allocated account.

l) On receipt of the amount, the concerned branch of SBI will issue a Journal Number and Branch Code of

the Bank.

m) Come back to SAIL Website,www.sail.co.in, click Careers with SAIL and click on log in available onthe right side of the page with heading Registered Applicant.

n) Enter e-mail ID and password which you have used for the filling up of application form.

o) Click on Payment details.

p) Enter all the details (viz. Journal Number and Branch Code of the banketc.) and click Submit.

q) Take printout of Registration Slip.

r) Registered candidates will go to log in by entering e-mail ID and password, they can downloadtheir e-admit card (during dates to be communicated later through e-mail).

All correspondence with candidates shall be done through e-mail/ SMS only.
