Advisory Councils
• The purpose of an advisory council is to help in improving the agricultural education of the people in the district.
How will they do that?
• Studying the ag ed problems of the district.
• Advising the Board of Education regarding official policies for agricultural education.
• Evaluating the progress made toward accepted objectives.
• Promoting communication between the public & the school & people concerned with agriculture education.
How do you get started?
Teacher requests approval of advisory council concept by the Board of Education.
Teacher shares a sample advisory council charter with the Board.
Board of Education adopts a charter. Membership selection committee is
appointed by the Board.
Getting started (cont.)
• Selection committee submits names of prospective members to Board.
Board approves slate of nominees or requests additional names.
Board sends letter of invitation to each prospective advisory council member.
Organizational meeting called by the Board.
Balanced?
