[=========================================================]1. ASCE T-Shirts for Sale

Starting Monday January 22, 2007, ASCE will be selling T-Shirts at a discounted rate of $10 to all students, staff, and faculty! If you wish to buy one, please contact Kurt Schimpke (kjkschimp).

[=========================================================]2. SSC (Student Success Center) Coaches Needed!   The SSC needs coaches for this coming semester!  The SSC is looking for coaches who have

Page 2: Advising Announcement for Monday, August 1, 2003 Annoucements (Text Files... · Web view• All civil engineering, landscape architecture, and land planning majors who will graduate

successfully completed ENG3200 (Thermo/Fluids), CE2201 (Structures I), CE3201 (Structures II), CE3101 (Civil Materials), CE3620 (Water Resources) and CE3501/3503 (Environmental Engineering).   Applications can be found outside of the Student Success Center (102 Dillman) and can be dropped off in mailbox 47 across from the SSC in front of the Engineering Fundamentals office.   Being a coach is a great opportunity to help other students, looks good on a resume, and is a great way to brush up on skills used on the FE.  If there are any questions you can contact Elise Nyland at [email protected].

[=========================================================]3. Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam

There have been several questions regarding the upcoming April FE exam. Please visit www.ncees.org or http://www.els-examreg.org/ for details.

Deadline to register: March 1, 2007 (you may confirm your registration status by going to http://www.els-examreg.org/)

Exam date: Saturday, April 21, 2007

Cost: $155.00

Who can take the exam? From the registration website “There are no prerequisites for the FE exam”. However you should be a Spring, Summer or Fall 2007 graduate (or earlier) if you intend to take the April exam.

[=========================================================]4. FE Review Course – Spring 2007

Once again there will be a review course offered here at MTU for all senior engineering students (this is only offered in the spring!).  This year's review course is set to begin on Monday, January 29, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. in the M&M Building U115.

Sign-up sheets along with all the details were emailed to all juniors and seniors. However, there will be copies available on the white shelves outside Dillman 103.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact me (David Zei) at [email protected] or 487-2362.

[=========================================================]5. International Senior Design – Summer 2007 (Seats still available)

There are still seats left for Summer 2007 International Senior Design (ISD) (July 22-Aug 5 approx dates).  ISD received a generous donation and so this year the lab fee will be reduced from $875 per student to $575 for a travel and lab fee cost of approximately $1600.  For details on how to apply, follow the directions at:  http://www.cee.mtu.edu/projects/details.htm  Please email Linda Phillips before paying your lab fee ([email protected]) to assure your seat in the class.

We're looking to hire, and we are willing to train someone fresh out of school. Good pay, good benefits, good growth potential, etc, etc etc.

Looking for someone who is high energy, self initiator, great in teams, and excellent communication skills.

The job involves less direct engineering, and more working with and/or directing engineers and consultants. In a nutshell, Intalco receives alumina and converts it to molten aluminum through anode/cathode reduction chemistry (egads that is a huge simplification). We then cast it into product--such as billet and t-bar. We also have some "re-melt" capability--meaning we take aluminum scrap and re-melt it into usable product.

Any resumes you can forward by email [email protected] ASAP would be great.

Let me know if you have any other questions...and thanks for your time.
