Sample Audit SheetSamantha StudentShow audience in a real audit sheet: Class History, how to uncheck In Progress and how to check upcoming sections and course availability.14Things to know about DW audit sheetIts in real time, integrated with BannerClass History now includes CRNsWhat If? is a useful functionSave as PDF allows printing a prettier versionIndicates whether the student applied for graduationHistoric report (on the left) shows a frozen audit for graduated studentsMidterm grades can be seen, if entered in Banner, indicated with (M). Very useful for advisement.Upper-Division: 33 CreditsUpper division courses are generally 300 or 400 levelForeign Language 201 and 202 count as UD if taken at BSC, although not required for degreeAll students must complete a minimum of 33 credits of upper division coursesIf a course from a two-year school transfers in as 300/400 level, it is considered upper divisionMost students, but NOT all, get enough UD credits in majorIF14: Basic Written and Oral Communication CWP 101 (3 credits) must earn a minimum grade of C

CWP 102 (3 credits) must earn a minimum grade of C

Check DW audit sheet to see if student has:Credit from transfer schoolAn exemption (AP course, etc.)HS transcript sent to Admissions for this purposeIf student gets a grade less than C, must retake the courseQuestions? Contact College Writing Program, TWIN 100IF14: Math and Quantitative ReasoningOne of the following courses: ECO 305 Statistics for Economics MAT 103 Introduction to Contemporary Mathematics MAT 114 Functions and Modeling MAT 122 Elementary Math from an Advanced Standpoint MAT 126 Calculus MAT 161 Calculus I MAT 311 Introduction to Probability and Statistics PHI 107 Introduction to Mathematical LogicRequirement may be met through: Credit-bearing (AP) courseworkevaluated by Admissions from student-submitted HS informationEquivalent transfer course or GETA

Banner Advanced Search by IF14 CategoryAttribute Type box20IF14: Foundations of Civilizations American History 3 credits Western Civilization3 credits Non-Western Civilization3 credits

These courses can satisfy major or minor requirementsIF14: DiversityOne course from the designated list (3 credits)

Double dip means that a course satisfies two or more requirementsExample: SOC 240 counts both as Diversity and Social Science Cognate Foundations But its still only 3 creditsDiversity courses can be double-dipped with ANY other requirement (major, minor, IF14, etc.)

IF14: Global Engagement Select one of four options* Can satisfy major/minor requirementsStudy one foreign languageRequirement of proficiency at the 102 level, that can be satisfied with high school proficiency (One year in HS = one semester here)MUST send HS transcript to Admissions for this purposeTake a proficiency testCultural immersion through study abroadGlobal engagement through specific service-learning experiences*See the IF14 web site for full detailsInfusion CategoriesIn IF14, three important Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) are infused into courses within the major:WritingCritical ThinkingInformation ManagementEach program identified courses to satisfy each SLO, and assessment will be conducted in the identified courses.Infusion started in Summer 2015Lists of infused courses here: http://intellectualfoundations.buffalostate.edu/course-proposals-infused-categories

Financial Aid basicsStudents must be accepted into a major no later than 60 creditsFinancial aid is threatened (& may be lost) whena student is not full-time (12 credits or more) classes are not completed (E, F, W, I, U)GPA is below 2.0Financial aid rules are different for state (TAP) and federal aidOther than these basic rules, send student to Financial Aid office for consultation. Rules are complex and individual.

More information:http://financialaid.buffalostate.edu/academic-progress Tips for Advisee SuccessStudents can use Schedule Planner in Banner SSBhttp://dailybulletin.buffalostate.edu/tell-students-schedule-plannerhttp://registrar.buffalostate.edu/sites/registrar.buffalostate.edu/files/uploads/Documents/registration/collegescheduler.pdfIf students click on a hot course link in audit sheet, a Sneak Preview window opens, showing current course availability in Banner (sections, CRNs, seats open, meeting times). Very helpful! If a student fails a class twice, he or she must petition to get a 3rd repeat to count.

Tips about DW audit sheetCan get students e-mail address by using the hot student name: Hovering mouse over the name shows e-mail address at bottom left of screenClicking name brings up a blank e-mailGraduation ChecklistA new Registration Checklist option in the Format box shows only what the student still needs to take

CTS help page illustrates sending email to their phones: http://cts.buffalostate.edu/help-studentsStudents should be encouraged to use the waitlist feature, it moves quicker than you think.http://youtu.be/eunEJu1tSCoThe waitlist continues to function during all of Drop-Add week, although students cannot add themselves to a new waitlist after Tuesday of Drop-Add.
