HAGERMAN FIRE DISTRICT By Tim Peterson, Fire Chief

Things have been busy with the Fire District the past couple of months, sorry for loosing track of time. With the cooling temps and changing colors it is looking like fall is finally here, however, the fuel conditions remain VERY dry. Extreme caution still needs to be taken when doing any outside burning this fall until we see some real precipitation. Fire activ-ity remains very active for this time of the year in the entire Great Basin area, there were two large fire starts on the weekend of Oct 9 thru Oct 11 in the Twin Falls District BLM area. The District has been active in supporting our partners at Idaho Department of Lands in as-sisting with wildfires across the Great Basin this season with 5 deployments between the second week of July and the second week of October. These deployments took our crews and apparatus to Utah, Nevada, California, and Idaho. The District was notified in Sept that we have been awarded our grant that we had applied for thru the Assistance to Firefighters Program for the purchase of 14 self contained breathing apparatus (SCBA). This will allow the District to

replace our current SCBA that are nearing 20 years old and out of current standards, the amount of the grant is $92,314.

I have been placed under quarantine for 10 days. During that time, I will continue to do city business from my home. It con-tinues to be my top priority to do what I can for the City of Hagerman and its citi-zens.

Because of Covid-19 and out of caution for the people of our city we will be clos-ing City Hall to in person business. The City Clerks are available by phone at: 208-837-6636 and you are welcome to call anytime during business hours Monday through Friday 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. As always, the drop box is available for utility payments. You are also welcome to call in your payments or visit the website at http://www.hagermanidaho.us to pay online.

The City Clerks can make arrangements through distancing to take care of any City business you need them to do. Keeping the City running smoothly is a top priority, but so is the safety of our community.

Please help us as we try to navigate our way through this time while doing what we can to reduce the risk of further spread.

Through these difficult times I will work to try to help Hagerman move forward and past the upheaval we have found our-selves in at the current time. I can still be reached through City Hall where you are welcome to leave a message and I will return your call as soon as I can. I deeply appreciate all of the well wishes I have received for myself and for my family.

I wish for all of us to be healthy and safe. Please take care of yourselves and each other.

    NATIONAL PARK SERVICE

THIS SPACE IS COMPLIMENTS OF THE FOUNDATION.

    We remember our veterans

    this November 11th, 2020.

    Although the Hagerman Fossil

Beds visitor center will be closed on

Veterans Day, enjoy the tranquility at

    our national monument. The crimson

sunset and crisp fall air are calming and

inviting; enjoy the sights and sounds

    while hiking the monument's trails.
