SOUTH COAST REGISTER - Wednesday, October 30, 2013 - 63 southcoastregister.com.au The two sides of safety THERE are two sides to every story – but there aren’t always two sides to every business. However, at Combined Safety Solutions there are. The South Nowra business covers all aspects of safety, with its training and equipment. The family-run company has serviced the Shoalhaven for the past 10 years, starting in Bomaderry, then moving to the back of the Building World Complex on the Princes Highway in South Nowra. Now at the front of the South Nowra Building World complex, the specialised industry is going from strength to strength. CSS offers training in courses such as Work Safely at Heights, Enter and Work in Confined Space, Apply First Aid, Advanced First Aid, Anaphylaxis, CPR, specialist rescue courses including Vertical and Tower Rescue, Construction Induction (White Card), Manual Handling and more. The courses range in length from half a day to four days and all are nationally accredited. Store manager Daniel Edge said the courses had many benefits. “These courses can help people get a job, or up-skill and maintain their qualifications,” he said. “Some of the courses are refresher courses, which employees are required to do every one to three years.” Trainer David Edge has been a paramedic for over 30 years, so offers plenty of experience for course participants. CSS has a range of specialist equipment not found elsewhere in the Shoalhaven. “We also have a lot of general safety supplies as well, work wear, safety glasses and work boots,” Daniel said. “We have the new Puma safety work boots in, which are the ultimate safety boot.” CSS can also stock and restock businesses with first aid kits and supplies compliant with the Workplace Code of Practice. Daniel Edge explains the finer points of general and specialised safety equipment to a customer at Combined Safety Solutions in South Nowra.
