Then, move over to the mansion for ghost story-telling by costumed characters and a haunted maze! Beware of the ghosts and ghouls that will try their best to surprise you around every dark corner! All proceeds will benefit the programming for The Brewster Recreation Department.

A Message From Wendy… What a spectacular summer! I want to extend a huge thank you to the entire Brewster Rec Summer Staff. With-out their hard work and dedication, our summer programs would not have been as successful as they were. With that said, I am excited to intro-duce more new programs for the whole family to enjoy. Brewster Rec. Programs are self-supporting. Fees charged for programs cover the cost of materials, pay instructor salaries and help

defray from costs. Non-residents may register for classes and are charged a

$10 non-resident fee.

Parent Teacher Conferences

The Brewster Recreation Game Room will open during Parent/Teacher Con-

ferences @ The Eddy School. Bring your child to our supervised

LOWER CAPE RECREATIONAL SOCCER LEAGUE

Grades: 3 - 6 Home Games & Practices @ Freemans Way Fields

Cost: $30 The Lower Cape Recreational Soccer League is an organized travel soccer league for boys & girls in grades 3-6. The league is made up of teams from Har-wich, Chatham, Brewster, Orleans, East-ham, Wellfleet, Truro & Provincetown. Every effort is made to create evenly bal-anced teams throughout the league. Teams play a 6 to 8 game schedule, how-ever competitiveness is kept to a mini-mum while fundamentals, skill develop-ment, teamwork, and sportsmanship is emphasized. All teams will practice one night a week and will have one game a week.

Kids will create (and take home!) their own stylized accurate map of the Cape and Islands painted on a 3’x3’ panel that can be hung in your home!

Hans de Castellane has completed more than 135 murals with over 100 here on the Cape. His work was featured on 2 episodes of Extreme Home Makeover

Home Edition, and he has appeared in numerous papers, magazines and Boston News Programs. Hans currently shows paintings at the Wynne Falconer Gallery

in Chatham and prints at the Kennedy Studio in Provincetown.

MURAL PAINTING: Fenway Park $150 Tuesdays and Thursdays October 13—29 3:30 PM—6:00 PM EDDY SCHOOL REC ROOM Instructor: Hans de Castellane Ages: 15+

Students will paint a large scale realistic panoramic portrait of the ballpark on a 4 foot wide panel which you will take with you and can be hung in your game room or kid’s bedroom. Hans has done 7 Fenway Park murals and has had his work featured on 2 Boston news stations. The Green Monster, John Hancock

Scoreboard and the Pesky Pole will all be included. It will even have a working scoreboard!

BREWSTER BAYSIDE SKIPPERS REC PROGRAM

The new coaches of the Brewster Bayside Skippers Recreation Program are three young women who are passionate about the sport of jump rope. Sarah Collette, Alyssa Ellard and Mallory Salvaggio have been jumping rope since Kindergarten

and 2nd grade under the direction of Paul Mullin and John Hammond. As coaches, their desire is to teach the values of teamwork, friendship, self-

motivation and fitness while infusing the children with their love for a sport that has brought them from elementary school jumpers to National Champions.

We will begin taking Skipper registrations on Tuesday, September 1.

**Deadline to register is Friday, October 30 and the program will begin the week of November 30th.**

BREWSTER BAYSIDE SKIPPERS COMPETITION TEAM

The Brewster Bayside Skip-pers Competition Team is a group of Skippers that choose to focus on re-

gional and national com-petition in several jump rope organizations. Since the team's beginning in 1997, its members have

consistently placed in the top 10 at USA Jump Rope, AAU Junior Olympics, American Double Dutch League and Inter-national Rope Skipping Federation competitions. This group of

typically 4th - 12th graders was coached for 9 years by Paul

Mullin and for the past 3 years by John Hammond. As well as competing, over the years the team has performed numerous demonstrations and exhibitions for local schools and charities,

area colleges, the Boston Celtics and Mohegan Sun.

The team's mission is to provide an athletic atmosphere that fos-

ters confidence, discipline, responsibility, teamwork and leadership for its members while training them to perform at the highest po-tential. Fundraising for the team's expenses is carried out by the

Brewster Bayside Skippers Parent Support Group.

This season the team intends to hold regular open practices for anyone interested in joining. For more information contact

• You are officially enrolled in a program once we process your registration and payment. No confirmation letters will be sent home.

PAYMENT Cash or Checks payable to:

Payment must be received in full prior to the start of the program.

REFUNDS A full refund will be given for any program that is cancelled. You may withdraw with-

out penalty from a program up to 7 business days prior to the start date. After that time no refunds will be issued. Refunds can take up to 4-weeks to process. In extraor-dinary circumstances, requests for refund after the start of a class will be considered by

the Recreation Director and must be made in writing. There are NO refunds due to weather. We cannot pro-rate payments.

CANCELLATIONS/CHANGES We reserve the right to change class dates or times. We may also cancel classes due

to low enrollment or other causes beyond our control.

FILLED CLASSES All classes are filled on a first come, first

serve basis. We cannot “hold” spots. Those beyond the limit will be placed

on a waiting list.

WEATHER CANCELLATIONS Cancellations due to weather will be

posted on the below web site. There will be no phone notification.

FIELD HOCKEY $25 Sundays, Sept. 20-Nov. 1 3:00PM—4:15PM, Freemans Way Fields & Nauset HS Grades: 2—6

The first two weeks will be tutorial, stressing the basics through skills drills and prac-tices. Both practices are held at Nauset HS. The remaining weeks will consist of games and scrimmages. A game schedule will be handed our at the first practice. Game locations will alternate between Nauset HS, Freemans Way Fields and East-ham. This instructional program is run by volunteers from the Nauset HS field hockey team.

SCHOOL VACATION PROGRAM $10 till Noon Grades: K-8th $25/per Day The Brewster Recreation Department will be running programs over December Va-cation and February Vacation . Flyers will be going home with all students about the programs offered during these school breaks.

NAUSET YOUTH FOOTBALL Grades: 5th—6th Fee: T.B.A

⇒ 2 Practices a week (Practices will not interfere with Rec. Soccer) ⇒ Games will be played on Sundays and begin in October. This new Football Program will be under the direction of Jack Donahue. It has been started so that all children in the 5th & 6th grades from Brewster to Province-town have a change to experience playing football before they have to make a choice as to what sport they would like to play at the Middle School. The program will be learning intensive so that each player will be well grounded in the fundamentals of the game. If interested, please sign up at Brewster Rec. As you enter the office, you will see a huge jar of candy corns. If you guess the correct amount in the jar, you will win a $50 cer-tificate toward rec. programs! Correct guesses will be pooled

and a winner will be drawn Oc-tober 31 and notified by phone!

FAQ

How do I register? To register, mail the completed Registration

Form and Payment to 2298 Main Street, Brew-ster MA 02631 or bring it into the Rec. Office

Monday-Friday 8:30am-4:00pm. If we are not in the office or it is after hours, simply put your

completed form and payment in our Drop-Box, located on the outside of our office @ the front of the Eddy School. Registration Forms are found at the Rec Office or on our website.

Can I sign up after registration dead-lines have passed?

Yes, However late registrations will be accom-modated only if space is available. There will

be a $5 late fee for all late registrations.

If I sign up for a program and my child doesn’t like it can I get a

refund? A full refund must be in writing at least 7 busi-

ness days prior to the start of the program. IMPORTANT: You can only get a full refund if your spot can be promptly filled by someone on the waitlist and no cost is incurred because

of your withdrawal.

How do I know if a Program Cancels the class?

Signing up in advance for pro-grams will also help keep your

program running! It has happened in the past that programs have

been cancelled due to low registra-tion because we don't know you

are out there and planning on coming! So sign up early!
