What is a network simulator?
- A program that virtually simulates a computer network for the purpose of studying how it behaves under certain circumstances.
Why do we need a network simulator?
• It lets us test a conceptual network before we ever implement it.– Significantly saves one a lot of money– We can simulate situations that are otherwise
not practical with real network
• Its can be an effective training tool for future network managers.
• It can also be used to test new NMS apps.
What is AdventNet Network Simulator Toolkit?
-it is a suite of fully independent software made specifically to
simulate and test a network in a virtual environment.
What are these software that are included in the suite?
• Network Designer/Simulator– Cisco Routers and Switches– Hosts/Servers (Linux, Solaris, Windows2000)– Printers (Lexmark inkjet, HP laser etc…)– Firewall
