ST. ANDREW’S CHRISTMAS ANTICIPATION PRAYERThe Feast of Saint Andrew falls on the first Sunday of Advent. Andrew was the first disciple called by Our Lord. The Christmas Novena, also called The Saint Andrew Novena, or The Christmas Anticipation Prayer, is over one hundred years old. Recite the prayer fifteen times a day from November 30 to December 25.

Fifteen times a day?YES! It might sound ike an overwhelming committment, but it’s not once you get the hang of it. Besides it’s results are supernatural. I often use my Rosary beads to help me keep track. I will never forget the year, I stumbled upon St. Andrew’s grave while I was on a trip to the Amalfi coast. When prayed deliberately with thought and care, you’ll find a mystical component entering into Christmas Day. Besides, once January 1 rolls around, you will have worked on the habit of daily prayer and your New Year’s Resolutions will be easier to tackle. Will you join me this year?

Hail and blessed be the hour and moment in which the Son of God was born of the most pure Virgin Mary, at midnight, in Bethlehem, in the piercing cold. In that hour vouchsafe, I beseech Thee, O my God, to hear my prayer and grant my desires, [here mention your request] through the merits of Our Saviour Jesus Christ, and of His Blessed Mother. Amen.

It is piously believed that whoever recites the above prayer fifteen times a day from the feast of St. Andrew, on November 30th, until Christmas will obtain what is asked. [Imprimatur: +Michael Augustine, Archbishop of New York, New York, February 6, 1897.]
