Advent

Repentance A man drove off in his car to do some last-minute Christmas

shopping. Meanwhile, his wife stayed home to bake some

Christmas cookies. While she baked, she was also watching the

local news on TV, when she suddenly heard the announcer say,

"Be very careful and watch driving on the parkway today. There

is a motorist driving the wrong way!"

She quickly called her husband on his cell to warn him. When

she reached him, she informed him of the news, but he replied,

"Pfft, … it’s not just one driver going the wrong way. There are

hundreds of them out here doing it."

Advent is a time of waiting and preparing for God to come … at

Christmas, as well as at the final fulfillment of time. And as we

wait and prepare for God to come, we are also called to repent.

Biblically speaking, to repent doesn’t mean

to feel sorry about or regret something. Ra-

ther, it means to turn - to turn around 180

degrees and go the right way. It means to

undergo a complete change of mind, heart,

and direction - to turn away from selfishness,

meanness, shallowness, and indifference,

and to turn towards the compassion, kindness, civility, and hope

that we all have in us at our best.

So join us this Advent as we wait, ... and prepare, ... and exam-

ine our lives, … and repent. - Pastor Micah

Our Life Together at St. David’s

Council Highlights:

New Logo for St. David’s: The new logo is

currently being used on the website, letterhead

& communication correspondence, and in the

newsletter. We are also in the process of de-

signing new t-shirts and other promotional ma-

terials.

Preschool: Enrollment is up this calendar

school year; a total of 53 students throughout

the three age groups of classes.

The Murder Mystery Dinner: Tickets were

sold out. Our own Joe DiPretoro will do most

of the cooking. Thanks to Gary Naylor & the

Stewardship Committee and Janis Garone &

the Fellowship Committee for all their planning

and preparations.

Increasing Involvement & Participation: A

large part of our Council meeting was spent

brainstorming ideas on how to encourage more

involvement in our various ministries and activi-

ties with the life of our community. This will be

an ongoing emphasis in 2020.
