Advent means the coming of something.
Christians have FOUR Sundays to get ready to celebrate Jesus birth. The first Sunday of Advent is the beginning of the Christian Church's year.

Why have an Advent Wreath?
The wreath is -a circle to show that Gods love goes on forever -and green to show new hope and life The four outer candles are for the four Sundays of Advent

A fifth candle is sometimes lit in the middle to celebrate the birth of Jesus

Candle of Hope We remember the hope we have in Jesus.

It is sometimes called the Bethlehem Candle to remind us of the place in which preparations were made to receive and cradle the Christ childCandle of Peace
