Strength

All Advantage Feeders can be used for

feeding deer.

All outer extremities are reinforced to

withstand the roughest treatment.

Advantage Feeders are stronger

because they are formed from

connected sheetmetal, flange jointed

instead parts that are simply butted up

and welded.

Two year warranty

Advantage Feeders provides a two

year warranty on all purchases.

Fully galvanised

All parts are galvanised, not painted,

ensuring the product lasts longer.

Tube components can often sit in the

mud and muck and rust quickly – all

tube on our feeders is hot gal dipped

to ensure that’s not the case.

Lifting frame

All feeders can be moved fully loaded.

The NGF1800 and NGF3800 are

designed with Z shaped rails under the

trough to spread the load.

Accurate feeding and

consumption sticker

The Upper and Lower Adjusters have

a series of painted dimples on them –

allowing them to be set accurately.

The lower side panels have a table

to show the intake at each adjuster

setting.

The table should be considered a

guide only but is a good starting point

for setting the feeder.

Adjuster Guard

The Adjuster Guard is a part that sits

above the feed access area to partition

it into 100mm gaps. This ensures that

animals stand in the same location

whilst feeding – ensuring other stock

aren’t disturbed by being pushed.

See page 16 for more information.

Volume stickers

Our volume stickers allow you to

quickly determine the ration being

consumed and make adjustments if

required.

Quality components

All fasteners on our adjusters are

stainless steel – ensuring a long,

functional life.

All rivets and Tek screws have high

quality coatings.

Sight glasses

Sight glasses are a simple and

effective feature that can save you

getting off, or out of your vehicle to

check the volume in the feeder – we

know you’ll appreciate that when it

rains.

Multipurpose

Advantage Feeders can be used to

feed deer, sheep and cattle.

The feeders have adjustable skids that

can be changed in height to suit any

animal type.

Retractable roof

Our roofs can be easily opened and

handily fastened on the same side.

MGF3800

Mobile Feeders give farmers the

convenience of filling the feeders up

at a silo and taking them out to the

paddock.

The MGF3800 is constructed by

adding a tandem-axle chassis system

to the NGF3800.

The MGF1800 is constructed by

adding a single-axle chassis system

to the NGF1800.

Central wheel position

The centralised axle reduces the load

on the tow ball of the towing vehicle.

Other mobile feeders on the market

have the axle at the rear which can

place over 800kg of load on your

tow ball when most vehicles have

a maximum tow ball loading of just

300kg. This can cause the kind of

catastrophic failure which can lead to

accidents.

Our tyres are only 480mm high (195/55/

R13C) and have a load rating of 900kg

each. Most stock can easily reach over

the wheels but lambs of less than four

months must eat alongside the wheels.

MGF1800 Advantage Feeders give farmers the control to limit the amount of supplement that stock consume. We do this through our revolutionary saliva-restriction, Advanced Adjustment System.

Whilst the Advantage Feeders Advanced Adjustment System can be set to feed unrestricted rations to stock, it can also limit the intake of deer to 150 grams/day.

Advantage Feeders can be used successfully to do the following tasks:

1) Ration feeding 2) Creep feeding; and 3) Ad-lib feeding

How do Advantage Feeders work?

Our Advanced Adjustment System requires stock to lick feed out of a groove between two adjusters. Changing the position of these adjusters changes the ration that stock can consume.

Our research has shown that when the lick system is in its most restricted setting, stock lick for 5-10 minutes between periods of grazing.

The licking period is limited because livestock use the saliva on their tongue to get the feed out of the groove. The saliva decreases with each lick until the animal can no longer access the feed.

Our tyres are only 480mm high (195/55/ R13C) and have a load rating of 900kg each.

Most stock can easily reach over the wheels but fawns of less than three months must eat alongside the wheels.

Suspension

Mobile Feeders have suspension to ensure the longevity of the products by providing smooth transportation at higher speeds.

The MGF3800 features load-sharing springs to spread a full load evenly over all four wheels.

Advantage Feeders have no maximum speed limit. Many others have a maximum of 25 km/h.

Telescopic stands

The Mobile Feeders feature a telescopic stand at each corner to prohibit movement when uncoupled.

Adjustable axle height

Our Mobile Feeders are manufactured to allow the axle(s) to be set at one of three different heights (approx. 300, 400 or 500mm), to suit different stock.

Historic results:

Peter and Diane Lowe finish 95 weaner from 105 hinds per year. He has historically trail fed for 150 days at a rate of 250grams/day plus a roll of Lucerne baleage every other day from May until they stop eating it – usually the end of July.

Historic, dressed kill weights averaged 61kg and the majority of weaners were sent to the works in October.

2014 results:

The weaner deer averaged a dressed weight of 68.18kg and were sold, on average, one month earlier allowing all to be sold before the schedule started to drop.

The weaners stopped eating the Lucerne baleage by the end of June, one month earlier, and reduced baleage supplement requirements by 15 rolls.

Other benefits of the Advantage Feeders system included:

• There is no waste feeding through Advantage Feeders. Peter Lowe commented, “Before Advantage Feeders were used, there was always lines of volunteer barley growing in the weaner paddocks in spring. Now there is none, so we must be getting close to 100% converted into meat production.”

• A reduction in time required to feed weaners. The feeders were filled approximately once per fortnight with two front-end loader buckets full of barley rather than trail feeding, done daily.

• The Advantage Feeders system offered the opportunity to only have to fill the feeders up during dry weather. This is because they only required filling once a fortnight. Trail feeding during rain can increase waste rates above 50%.

• Weaners are easier to manage as they follow Advantage Feeders through gateways into other paddocks or yards.

Potential for higher profits:Weaning is done at the start of March. Fawns find this quite stressful and often have setbacks.

Employing Advantage Feeders before weaning increases the condition of the hind to get back in calve easier.

It also trains fawns to consume from the feeders and reduces the number of fawns that have a setback at weaning.

Supplement feeding also increases the weight gain of fawns.

About the trial operators Peter and Diane Lowe operate a 250Ha property outside of Ashburton in southern Canterbury.

Other than running 105 hinds and finishing their fawns, they manage Lynnford Romney Stud and run 2000 commercial ewes.

Mineral Attachment

Loose Minerals are the most cost

effective form in which to supply the

mineral and vitamin requirements

of stock.

If Loose Minerals are substituted

for Lick Blocks, the savings can pay

for the investment in a matter of

months.

Capacity: 110kg

Weight: 10kg

Dimensions: 760x400x550 (LxWxH)

Material: UV stable polyethylene

The Mineral Attachment ensures

that your stock receive their

nutritional requirements while

reducing waste and labour.

It has a cover over the access area

to protect the mineral feed from rain.

It can fasten to the end of Next

Generation Feeders making it easy

to move the mineral component

of the stock’s ration when they are

moved paddock.

Farmers can also hang them on iron

posts, gates or yard panels.

Testimonial

I farm Hybrid Red Deer in Canterbury.

I previously had problems getting the weaners up to the optimum weight by mid-October for the German mid-winter market.

If they didn’t reach the required 45kg carcass weight by this time, the price would drop significantly because the carcass would then have to be airfreighted instead of shipped.

Daily supplementary feeding on the ground was quite wasteful and time consuming. The dominant deer would push the shyer ones out of way and consume more than their allocation.

I tried my first Advantage Feeder in 2011. I now only fill the NGF1800 model once every 4-5 days.

I no longer have an issue of having shy feeders. I rarely see more than 3 deer eating from the feeder at any one time so they all get a go.

The ability of Advantage Feeders to limit intake has meant that we can safely feed barley – a cost effective feed source. The deer only get a bit, several times per day.

I feed the hinds and fawns pre-weaning. The hinds educate the fawns and when they are reintroduced to the feeder they immediately start eating from it.

I wean the fawns in the second week in February and then I leave the feeder with the hinds so they are in good condition for when the stags are introduced on the 1st of March.

The hinds consume up to 700 grams/day of barley during this period. I then put the feeder out with the weaners in August to finish them for the overseas market.

I now have several NGF1800s and have put them on chassis. When one feeder is getting empty, I can fill the other up at the silo and swap over the feeder in the paddock. I am looking to purchase another two Feeders later this year.

Advantage Feeders are an integral part of a modern deer farm.
