InvitationAfter successes of the series of International Conferences, the First World Congress on Advancesin Structural Engineering and Mechanics (ASEM’11plus) is being organized to provide a greatervariety of topics and to promote discussion and collaboration between the participants. The ASEM’11plus congress will combine the existing International Conferences and offer a new series ofInternational Conferences. (Please see the Appendix PP A1~A14)The combined event provides a greater variety of topics to pick up from and will create an excellentopportunity for participants to look into what is going on in allied fields and to get some idea onwhat the future developments in the fields will be.Thus the congress will be a premier international forum that brings together academics and practicingengineers to exchange frontier research results and emerging technologies in the broad topics ofStructural Engineering and Mechanics. You are cordially invited to attend this interesting event.

TransportationTo Seoul:
Through Incheon International Airport(ICN), Seoul is linked with major cities worldwide by hundredsof direct flights. If you plan to visit neighboring countries before or after the congress, it is convenientto fly with Korea based airlines, i.e., Korean Air and Asiana Airlines.
Incheon Int’’l Airport to Hotels:To Sheraton Walker Hill Hotel: The most convenient way is to take Line 4 of KAL LimousineService Bus and relax until the bus arrives at its final destination. For directions, walk out of theIncheon International Airport Building (Arriving Deck-Ground Level) then go to the Bus Stop 4B or11A. The bus leaves every 30min between 04:45 am and 10:45 pm. The fare is ₩14,000(approx.US$13). The journey will take about 2 hours.
City TransportationSubway Systems: The most convenient way for foreign visitors to travel in the city is to takesubway. Seoul’s subway system is very convenient, economical, and safe. You can reach virtuallyevery part of Seoul by the 9 subway lines and the additional Korea Rail lines. The basic ticket price(zone 1) is ₩1,000 and there will be additional charges for long distance travels(zone 2, 3).Taxi: Taxi is another convenient way of traveling in Seoul. The basic fare is ₩2,400 for the first2km and ₩100 for each additional 144m. Bus is not recommended for first visitors.
City of SeoulSeoul has been the capital city of Korea for the past 600 years. The city of Seoul, which hosted the1988 Olympic Games and 2002 FIFA World Cup Soccer Games, has many sight-seeingattractions and cultural events. Seoul’s former role as the economic, political, and cultural heart ofthe “Chosun Dynasty”has now taken on international proportions. Hundreds of direct flights linkSeoul with major cities worldwide. The weather in Seoul is at its best in September. The averagetemperature in early September is about 25°C (77°F).

The themes of AIMM’11 cover a wide range of subjects associated with interaction and/ormultiscale mechanics encountered in engineering and scientific research and practice. For thetypical subjects considered by the conference, please see the conference themes in page 4.The international conference on Interaction and Multiscale Mechanics: an Internationalconference(AIMM) is to provide a platform for publication of research results in which interactionand multiscale mechanics plays a vital role. The problems of interaction mechanics include theinteraction of two different subjects/systems, whether they are connected or not, with or withoutrelative motion. The problems of multiscale mechanics include structural, mechanical or materialsystems with varying length or time scales. As many contemporary and innovative designsencompass interaction phenomena and multiscale features, papers featuring advancement oftheories and applications of interaction and/or multiscale mechanics are particularly encouragedfor the conference. This conference will bring together academics and practicing engineers toexchange new ideas and experiences in the areas of Interaction and Multiscale Mechanics. Youare cordially invited to attend this interesting event.
Call for Papers & MS OrganizersThose who are interested in organizing a mini symposium (MS) with papers in the areas of his/herexpertise are invited to organize a mini symposium at the AIMM’11. A mini symposium may havea single session or multiple sessions with 5-7 papers each. In case of successful organization, themini symposium organizer’s paper will be considered as an invited paper and he/she will beprovided with a reduced registration fee (50%). InvitationMore than 70 percent of our planet is covered by water. The ocean has been the sources of manynatural resources, space, energy, food, and even dreams of mankind. The utilization andexploration of the ocean requires the understandings of many different engineering and naturalscience fields and the importance of this interdisciplinary and systematic approach keeps growing. This has prompted the launching of the new international Journal “Ocean Systems Engineering”and of an“International Conference on Ocean Systems Engineering (ICOSE’11)”as aparticipating international conference of ASEM’11plus congress.
