G O A LThe goal of this course is to share the pioneering advances in HPB surgical oncology on which MD Anderson has published hundreds of studies over the past two decades, in order to teach participants how technology and oncology can be used together to improve short-term surgical outcomes and long-term cancer-related outcomes.

E D U C AT I O N A L O B J E C T I V E SAfter attending the course, participants should be able to

• Apply oncologic principles in patient selection for surgery (Knowledge, Competence);

• Utilize knowledge of tumor biology to lead a local tumor board (Knowledge, Competence);

• Incorporate advanced surgical techniques for pancreas and liver surgery to reduce blood loss and complications (Knowledge, Competence, Performance, Patient Outcomes);

• Implement enhanced recovery programs into practice (Knowledge, Competence, Performance, Patient Outcomes).

TA R G E T A U D I E N C EThe target audience includes practicing surgeons who treat and operate upon HPB cancer patients.

E D U C AT I O N A L M E T H O D SLectures – Skills-Based Training – Case Studies – Panel Discussions - Questions and Answers – Simulation – Hands-on Workshop

E VA L U AT I O NA course evaluation form will provide participants with the opportunity to comment on the value of the program content to their practice decisions, performance improvement activities, or possible impact on patient health status. Participants will also have the opportunity to comment on any perceived commercial bias in the presentations as well as to identify future educational topics.

R E G I S T R AT I O N I N F O R M AT I O NOn-site registration for the MD Anderson Advanced Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Surgery Course will be open at Noon on Thursday, November 9, 2017. The course will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 9 and will end at Noon on Saturday, November 11.

Advance registration is encouraged as space and materials are limited. Please see registration form for applicable fees.

The deadline for advance registration is October 20, 2017.

R E F U N D / C A N C E L L AT I O N P O L I C YThe registration fee, minus a $50 administrative handling fee, is refundable if a written request is received on or before October 20, 2017. No refunds will be granted after that date. The request for a registration refund must include the tax identification number of the company or institution if registration was paid by a company or institution check.

The Department of CME/Conference Management reserves the right to cancel activities prior to the scheduled date, if low enrollment or other circumstances make it necessary. Each registrant will be notified by mail, e-mail, or the contact numbers as given on the registration form.

In case of activity cancellation, liability of the Department of CME/Conference Management is limited to the registration fee. CME/Conference Management will refund the full registration fee.
