Making The PaymentA visual tour of Advanced Cart™ v2.14 (ASP)

A customer has just visited your website and is going to purchase several items from your website.

What Your Customer Sees

Step 1: The customer goes to your website and presses the “Add to Cart” button which is a basic HTML <FORM> you put on your website with the item information in the form fields. When they see an item they like they will hit the Add To Cart button to send that form information to the shopping cart.

Page 6: Advanced Cart Manual

Step 2: The customer will then see the cart appear with the information they just added to your cart from your main website. The customer looks at the contents of their cart and presses the “Check Out” button. The screenshot below is our cart wrapped in customers website design.

Page 9: Advanced Cart Manual

Step 5: Then the customer clicks the Check out. If they choose to pay by Google or PayPal, then they will be sent to the Google or PayPal Payment Page on the 3rd party website to submit payment for the total amount of the order, or the cart will process the Authorize.Net credit card or bank info to your Authorize.Net merchant account and then will return the user to the thank you screen showing the Transaction number and approved message. If the customer decides to pay with check or money order then the 5th option will be chosen and they will be required to print out their order sent via email and send it in with full payment. After the items are processed and payment has been made the user will get a receipt of the items ordered and the owner of the site will get the full order email with shipping info as well. The owner can confirm if payment was made by the order number that will be generated. The owner will compare the order number with the payment order number from the merchant account and if they match then the payment went through and the items can be shipped.

Easy Cart SetupA step-by-step guide to implementing the Advanced Cart

With the Advanced Shopping Cart, your customers can make a single payment when they purchase multiple items. And it's easy to set up and use: Just create a separate "Add to Cart" button / Form for each item you sell and place the HTML for that button on your website next to the item which we will show you in this manual. To start setting up the cart open the advcart.asp file in Notepad (PC) or TextEdit (Mac). After you follow editing the cart make sure to copy the advcart.asp and the full include directory to your website. For better management its best to move the entire advcart directory to your website so its separate from your website.

Shipping Options

You may select how you want to calculate shipping for your shopping cart. You may select to enter the shipping price manually for each item or select the auto calculation option to calculate shipping based on the order total. You may adjust the Shipping calculation values based on the order total. You may add or adjust the code to your needs, but keep the same structure. Also just added to this new version of the cart is the new Drop Shipping option. Option 3 now allows you to send to the cart a supplier code which will then grab the initial shipping price you set in the add to cart form and if the cart detects more then one item from the same supplier then you can add an additional amount instead of having the cart charge the basic shipping price based on qty of items. So for example lets say you have 3 items in your cart, two are from supplier “nou” and the other from “lou”, each item is $5 to ship which would total the amount of $15 for the total order, shipping, but with option 3 you wanted “nou” supplier code to add $2 extra to the shipping instead of $5 so with this option the total for shipping would be $12 since it added $2 instead of another $5 for the additional item with supplier code “nou”. See Sample Directory 13 for html. Also we have added a way to detect donations with our AutoShipping to remove shipping prices if a donation is in the cart or is the only thing in the cart.

ShippingOption = "1" To do shipping manual for each item in your html formShippingOption = "2" To use the auto shipping calculator based on order totalShippingOption = "3" To do drop shipping and calculate shipping charges based on supplier codes and their associated shipping rules

Now we are going to setup your Authorize.Net account. We will also show you settings that should be set to protect yourself from fraudulent orders. After signing in to your account, click on the Settings link on the left side of the screen. Once in the settings page, scroll down till you see “Response/Receipt URLs” link and click on it. This is where you will enter in all you’re website URLs where the advanced cart will be. The Payment Gateway verifies the URL specified in the post string against the URLs in this list. If the URL provided does not match one of the values on this list, the transaction will be rejected. If no URL is provided, the Default URL value will be used.

Once you’re done, click on the account link on the top menu bar to go back to your settings page. You will now scroll down and select the “Relay Response” link. You will enter your main website address here. This setting specifies the main URL to which the gateway should return the relay response for a transaction. This should be setup for the main or 1st website that has the cart.

Once this is done click account again to return to your settings menu. You will now scroll down and select from the settings menu “Card Code Settings”. Select the conditions for which the Payment Gateway should reject a transaction when the Card Code submitted does not match the value on file with the customer's credit card company.

This area should only have the first option checked. As long as this is set correctly it will reject any orders where the CVV number on the back of the card that does not match what they typed in. This will save you a lot of hassle from dealing with stolen or fraudulent credit card orders.

Now click account and from the settings menu and go to the “Address Verification” link. This area should be setup exact to also help prevent fraudulent orders. Select the conditions for which the Payment Gateway should reject a transaction due to a mismatch between the billing address provided with the transaction and the address on file with the customer's credit card company. So once in make sure only 5 options are selected in the “Reject If” area leaving Non US Card Issuing Bank unchecked. Everything else leave unchecked.

Gift Certificates Setup

The Advanced Cart also houses a special Gift Certificate manager. As you can from the screen shots below, you cal use the special gift certificate administration to store unlimited gift certificate numbers and assign a value to them. Thus allow your customers to use the gift cards or certificates to purchase items from your store. If a customer goes over their gift certificate value they will be able to pay the difference using their credit cards. The Advanced Cart then deducts the value of that certificate number and giving them a remaining balance in their receipt. Giving them the opportunity to come back later and use up the remaining of their stored balance.

Step 1. Login to your certificate list manager. You can login by going to: www.yourdomain.com/advcart/include/giftcards.asp. The default password is “admin”, but if you want to change the password just open up giftcards-main.asp in a simple text editor and change the password that will be listed.

Step2. Once you login, you will see a form at the top of the page, this is where you can enter in the gift certificate number and the $Value of that certificate number. From there you can give the number you generate to your customers to use on your site. The Advanced Cart is fully integrated with this nice little utility to manage and maintain the certificates and the values of each user by storing the remaining balances that the customers had not used. You can also delete any cards you wish to no longer store, for example certificates that had been used up and the value is $0.

Setting Up Your Website To Use Advanced Cart™ v2.14 (ASP)Setting Up Your Store Items To Interact With Advanced Cart

The Shopping Cart works by allowing normal <FORM> fields to be past to it in order to add the items to the cart. The cart is simple to get working by uploading the advcart directory with all the files within to your website directory and creating a form like this from one of your webpages.

<form target="_blank" action="domain.com/advcart/advcart.asp" method="post"> <input type="hidden" name="trigger" value="1"> <input type="hidden" name="item_number" value="001"> <input type="hidden" name="item_name" value="Batman Comic Book"> <input type="hidden" name="item_description" value="Great Comic Book!"> <input type="hidden" name="item_price" value="$24.99"> <input type="hidden" name="item_ship_price" value="$2.99"> <input type="hidden" name="item_quantity" value="1"> <input type="button" name="B1" value="Add To Cart"></form>

It’s easy and fast to setup. Remember you will need a separate form for each item. View the included demo HTML files to see some samples. If you need to modify the cart to handle more drop down options or shipping calculations read this manual for more information. For normal Forms see Samples 1 & 2 in the samples directory.

Using Multiple Options With Advanced Cart

Let’s say you want to have a multiple option drop downs to let the customer choose size, color, extra features, etc. You will need to program a simple validation JavaScript to calculate the drop down option then shoot the modified info to the shopping cart. (See Samples Directory For many ASP & JavaScript )

Advanced Cart Display Options – Using IFRAME

The Shopping Cart works when the form calls the shopping cart and opens the cart in a new window to add the items. If you rather have the cart display within your webpage and work properly you may place the following code to call the cart to show in your webpage:

<iframe name=”main” src="advcart.asp" frameBorder=0 width=”100%” height=”500” resizeable="no" >Your browser does not support inline frames or is currently configured not to display inline frames.</iframe>

Advanced Cart Display Options – Using A Wrap

The Shopping Cart works when the form calls the shopping cart and opens the cart in a new window to add the items. If you rather have the cart display within your webpage and work properly you may place the following code to call the cart to show in your webpage:

Create a webpage design and split the page in to two parts, we can call the webpage advcart-top.asp and advcart-bottom.asp. Now to wrap the design around the advanced cart, all you need to do is add these lines one at the top of and the other at the bottom in the advcart.asp file to have your design wrap around the cart.

<!-- #include file=”advcart-top.asp” -->Your Advance Cart Code Here<!-- #include file=”advcart-bottom.asp” -->

Can I Re-write The Cart Structure To What I Need?

Modifying or customizing the cart’s functionality is not recommended but if you know ASP “Active Server Pages” and eCommerce well enough then the sky is the limit. Please keep in mind though that modifying the carts structure or operational functions will make this cart unsecured by the original structure agreements with Authorize.Net and BrainScanMedia.com. BrainScanMedia.com will not give tech support to modifications and cart re structuring issues.

How does the cart store my items?

The cart stores items in a server-side session. There are no cookies that will be stored on the client side since mostly everyone blocks cookies anyway due to security reasons; the server-side session option is a better way to make sure everyone can order from you regardless of their security settings.

Can I make the session time-out longer?

By default the Session is set to 60 minutes which is a standard. But yes you can make the session time-out when ever you wish by go to line 237 in the shopping cart and entering in a new time-out value.

Session.Timeout=60

Can I make the cart do cookies instead of sessions?

Yes, it is possible to convert the entire cart to function off cookies but it is not recommended since the cart will not be considered secure by BrainScanMedia.com and all 3rd party payment processors. If you do decide and have enough knowledge to convert the cart to function off cookies then the following sample will show you how to create and read cookies from the cart.

This sample demonstrates how to set a cookie using ASP on client's computer. It's extremely useful when you need to "remember" your client. Very self-explanatory. If you don't set the expiration date, it will expire when client close the browser. You can also use relative date for expiration: Date + 10

Creating The Cookies

<% Response.Cookies("Client")("FirstName")="John" Response.Cookies("Client")("LastName")="Phillips" Response.Cookies("Client").Domain = "www.yourname.com" Response.Cookies("Client").Expires=#January 01, 2030#%>

Retrieving Cookie Values

<% Response.Write Request.Cookies("Client")("FirstName") %>

Trouble Shooting The Advanced Cart

Trouble Shooting Shopping Cart

Question: I get a error when trying to submit a test order or an actual order!Answer: If you get an error, for example: Reason (3.97), then you need to make sure your server time is correct and set to daylight savings time. This is just one of many error codes that can appear. If you do get a error code look in the included Authorize.Net SIM Guide.pdf document starting on page 35. It will tell you what the error code means.

Question: When the order is sent I get a response from Authorze.Net saying having trouble contacting the merchant to finish the transaction!Answer: If you get a similar message it could mean that your email is not configured right. Once an order is sent Authorize.Net will reply back to your cart to send out the receipts if the transaction was good. If your email is not configured correctly then it will give AuthNet an ASP error code resulting in this message.

Question: None of the cart photos come up and I get a X where they are suppose to be shown!Answer: Make sure that when you uploaded the advcart directory files that you uploaded the images directory as well. If you did upload the images directory then check the images path that you set in the config area. Most times if you set the incorrect path this will be the result.

Question: When I test the Advanced Cart, Authorize.Net does not return to the Shopping Carts thank you page. How can I fix it? Answer: Make sure you put the full URL back to the shopping cart in the CartFileURL = “http://www.url.com/advcart/advcart.asp”. This setting tells Authorize.Net and other 3rd part processors that when the order is processed to return to this URL to show the thank you screen and the information containing the order status. The Cart’s Thank You screen also updates the order in the database from Pending… to Cleared…

Question: When I test the Advanced Cart, Authorize.Net gives me an error saying it is having problems communicating with the merchant site. What is this and how can I fix it? Answer: This could be one of many reasons. 1) Make sure you set the correct paths to the cart, database, and make sure Read / Write status has been enabled on your hosting directory. Make sure your email settings are correct too. Failure to have these setting configured right will result in the cart giving an error and Authorize.Net will not know how to handle this error.

Question: When I process the test order I get this message: error '80040211' advcart.asp, line xxx Answer: This means that the server is not allowing the CDO Mail connection. Either your server does not allow this connection or does not support this feature. CDO is only available on Windows 2003 servers, where you may get this message if you are on an old Windows NT server or Windows 2000 server, which in this case you should use, CDONTS Mail Option.

Question: I got an Authorize.Net Order Recipe but I do not get one from the Advanced Cart.Answer 1: Make sure you have the email setting is configured right in your configuration area. If you are using CDONTS which is Option 1 then make sure your hosting company has setup the right credentials on your hosting account to send the email. If you are using Option 2 which is the CDO setting, make sure you have setup the Mail Server Address, User Name, & Password correctly. Also make sure that your hosting company allows you to send CDO messages. CDO messages sends mail using a basic SMTP setting where as CDONTS uses the built in email service in the servers IIS program where your website is configured. If you get an error saying trouble connecting to mail server, then you will need to make sure your mail account settings are setup correctly. Answer 2: Another instance is if you just switched your domain to a new hosting account, it takes up to 24 hours for your DNS information to propagate throughout the entire Net. Where maybe the server where Authorize.Net has just updated its records, but where you are or the network you’re on to get to the Net has not updated their records yet.

Trouble Shooting The Database

Question: Can I password protect the database?Answer: Yes start MS Access, then choose File / Open and select the orders.mdb. From there before hitting open choose the arrow next to the open button and choose Open Exclusive. The orders.mdb will be open in Exclusive Mode to allow you to set a password. From there, click on Tools / Security / Set Database Password. Once you set your password you must also put the new password in the shopping cart, scroll a little past the configuration area past the warning message and you will see the database code area.

Question: Can I change the database location? Answer: Yes just move the orders.mdb file and the adovbs.inc file to the new location, from there edit the cart database location under past the carts config area and put in the new location path in the <!-- #include file = "include/adovbs.inc" --> code and the new location in the advcartDBPath variable. If you move the database and not the adovbs.inc file you will get an error when the cart is being tested saying file not found.

Question: When I run the Advanced Cart, I get this error: Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80004005' [Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] Cannot update. Database or object is read-only. advcart.asp, line xxx

Answer: You are getting this error because the shopping cart is trying to write to the database to either save or update the order information and has detected that the database file is set to read only. To solve this issue have your web hosting company or login to your hosting control panel that some hosting companies give access to and enable the entire directory to Read & Write status, or just that file if you prefer. Most times by default the hosting companies has the directory where your website is held set to read only, but to do simple tasks like write to an access database or even update a text file that acts as your website counter, you will need to have the files or the entire directory set to Read / Write status instead of read only. Its best to set the entire directory incase later you update a file or move things around you will not need to enable the Write status for every file each time you update it.

Question: When I run the Advanced Cart I get this error: Provider error '80004005' Unspecified error advcart.asp, line xxx

Answer: You are getting this error because the shopping cart is having problems connecting to the database. This can be one of two things! You may have set a password to your database and the password in the Advanced Cart does not match. Make sure that advcartDBUserName = "Admin" and advcartDBPassword = "Correct Password". If this is not the case open up the access database and make sure it is not corrupted. Sometimes if a server is configured wrong it can mess up your database when writing to it. This is a rare occurrence, but it does happen. There was one instance where someone setup their FTP software to send as ASCII Format instead of Binary to upload the database and website content, and it messed up everything. The database was corrupted from the ASCII upload. So when the order was cleared and authorize.net sent the user back to the cart’s thank you screen so the cart can update the order in the database as Cleared, it would not connect due to this reason.

Page 38: Advanced Cart Manual

Question: When I run the Advanced Cart I get the following error: [Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver]General error Unable to open registry key 'Temporary (volatile) Jet DSN for process 0x2364 Thread 0x6b80 DBC 0x1bba984 Jet'.

advcart.asp, line xxx

Answer: This error is due to the database’ registry key. In some instances if a server has crashed or an error accrued when the database is doing some tasks the key may be erased. No worries since it’s only the indexing key assigned to the RecID field that puts in the Auto number for the Record being created. No order data is lost from this. If you do run into this problem which is very rare, you can do one of two things. One, you can backup the original database with all the orders to a backup directory and upload the original database that came with the Advanced Cart package, this will take care of the issue. Two, you can repair the original database by opening the database and creating a new table, lets call it _orders1 and open the original table _orders and click to view it in design mode. From there copy all the field names and past it in the design view of the _orders1 table. Once the fields are matched you can now copy all the records from the original _orders table and past it in the new _orders1 table. Now all your records have been put in with a working registry key. From there you can delete the original _orders table and rename the new table _orders1 to _orders. Before closing the database completely, we will need to clean and compress the database by clicking on Tools / Database Utilities / Compact and Repair Database. This will repair your database and remove the deleted table and data from the database and compress the database to run faster.

ADVANCED CART MANUAL PAGE - 38 -

Page 39: Advanced Cart Manual

Another alternative to fixing your database is by creating an ASP script. Lets say we call it repair.asp and put code like this in it to repair your access database:

<%'Compact the database dbname Function CompactDB(dbname, password) Dim dbpath, engine, fso, cnfrom, cnto dbpath = Server.MapPath(dbname) cnfrom = "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source="&dbpath cnto = "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source="&dbpath&".temp" Set engine = Server.CreateObject("JRO.JetEngine") Set fso = Server.CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject") 'if the db it is protect from password... If password<>"" Then cnfrom = cnfrom&";Jet OLEDB:Database Password="&password cnto = cnto&";Jet OLEDB:Database Password="&password End If 'Make sure there isn't already a file with the name of the compacted database. If fso.FileExists ( dbpath & ".temp" ) Then fso.DeleteFile ( dbpath & ".temp" ) End If 'Compact the database into the destination location engine.CompactDatabase cnfrom, cnto 'Delete the original database fso.DeleteFile dbpath 'Rename the file back to the original name fso.MoveFile dbpath & ".temp", dbpath 'Clean-up Set fso = nothing Set engine = nothing 'Write out the result to the screen If Err.number <> 0 Then Message = "An error occurred!!! " Else Message = "Your database has been compacted and repaired!" End If End Function

Call CompactDB("orders.mdb ", "")%>

Question: Is there a way for me to see all the orders in my database from a webpage?Answer: Yes, actually to do this you will need to create an ASP webpage and insert a database connection code to open up your access database and view all the records or by certain queries if you know ASP well enough. Below is a sample, please check Samples Directory for the full ASP source code.

Question: Do you offer this cart in PHP?Answer: Yes, We are working on a brand new PHP cart and should be ready soon. Please checkup on our progress at www.bsmstore.com.

If you have a question that is not listed in this Trouble Shooting section please contact us by going to http://www.bsmstore.com and submit a question.

SSL Security CertHow To Modify Advanced Cart To Be Secured!

Using SSL “https://” to make the cart secure is simple. You must change the following string’s paths in the store and authorize.net gateway config area in advcart.asp to a full URL path as followed: https://www.yourname.com/advcart/advcart.asp". The cart will then be secured and you should see the small lock at the bottom of the cart. Make sure you set your Authorize.Net Relay URL in your account to relay to the https URL.

I’m Getting Errors With My Cert

If you get an error like the one below, then there is one of three reasons why you are getting this error:

1. You registered the cert as yourname.com but for the https path you are using www.yourname.com as the URL path. This is the reason why you are getting this error.

2. The second reason may be that your web hosting company you are with registered the cert as theirname.com and are trying to use it as a *.* wildcard setup where all of their customers can use the cert, and calling yourname.com in the path will not match the cert because its in theirname.com.

3. The third reason may be that the cert is out of date and will require a re-newel

Make sure all paths are https://yourname.com or www.yourname.com if the cert is registered with www.

HOW TO INSTALL CDONTS ON WINDOWS 2003Overview / How To Install & Setup CDONTS On Windows 2003!

Background

By default CDONTS is NOT INSTALLED on Windows 2003, but CDOSYS is. CDOSYS is an updated version of CDONTS, and is better since it uses your pop3 email account to send out your invoices. But if you prefer to use CDONTS than likely you will need to install CDONTS.dll on your Windows 2003 server for compatibility issues to use our cart in CDONTS status.

This tutorial will help you install CDONTS on your Windows 2003 Server. We have tried to make it as simple as possible. If you are having any trouble, just email us and we will be happy to help.

This tutorial will also show you how to get CDONTS working on your server, even if you have another Mail server running such as Mail Enable.

Installing The CDONTS DLL on Windows 2003

Step 1

Copy the CDONTS.DLL included in the Documents directory and put it in yourc:\winnt\system32\ folder. You can also get CDONTS.dll from your windows 2000 CD.

Step 2

Register the CDONTS.DLL component on your server by clicking start >> run >> type :

regsvr32 c:\winnt\system32\cdonts.dll >> ENTER

Don't forget to replace winnt with your windows folder name.

ADVANCED CART MANUAL PAGE - 42 -

©2004-2010 BrainScanMedia.com, Inc. All Rights Reserved.

Page 43: Advanced Cart Manual

Setting Up CDONTS

Step 3

Now that you have registered your CDONTS.dll component we need to check if your SMTP service is running. Go to Admin tools >> IIS >> and expand your local machine, if SMTP service is listed then it is installed, if SMTP is not listed, click Admin tools >> Configure your server Wizard >> click Next >> Make sure Mail Server / POP3 is installed, if its not, then install it. To install SMTP go to Configure your server Wizard and install it from there. If it is installed and all looks good, then view Setting Up IIS CDONTS SMTP Mail Protocol to get it working.

COMMON ERROR: SMTP Is installed but not listed in Windows 2003 IIS6.0. Don't worry, this sometimes happens and is a flaw of windows 2003, To fix this error click Start >> Run >> type :regsvr32 c:\winnt\system32\inetsrv\smtpsnap.dll

Step 4

Now that your SMTP is installed and it is running in IIS, you need to setup CDONTS, go to IIS and right click your SMTP service, click properties. If you want to change the port number click Advanced and edit it from there, but default is 25. Make sure your IP Address is selected from the list.

Right click your working SMTP server, click Properties

Page 44: Advanced Cart Manual

Step 5

Now you need to setup the security. The following will set security so that only the domain names on IIS or localhost can send emails using CDONTS, in other words only websites hosted by this server can send CDONTS formatted emails using ASP or using the POP3 Service.

Click Access >> Authentication

Put a check inside Anonymous Access and Integrated Windows Authentication then click OK

Now you need to set it so your machine has access to the connection. If your using the POP3 Email services on the same machine as your websites then choose All except the list below and leave the list blank, this will allow your email programs to connect to your POP3 service. Other then that do the following to make it secure.

ADVANCED CART MANUAL PAGE - 44 -

©2004-2010 BrainScanMedia.com, Inc. All Rights Reserved.

Page 45: Advanced Cart Manual

Follow the same setup inside the RELAY window as well, remember if you’re using the POP3 Service to send out your emails then choose All Except the list below, and leave the list blank, then click OK. Once you have given your machine the proper access to relay and access to the connection, we need to make sure it can deliver the email.

Next, Click the DELIVERY tab, then click ADVANCED

Now set the MAX hop count to whatever you like, but we recommend at least 20, and enter your IP Address in the Fully-qualified domain name box.

Congratulations CDONTS should now be working!!!

Using CDO Instead of CDONTS

If your web hosting company can not, or will not support CDONTS, which in reality would be a bad practice for a web hosting company, then you can try to use the new CDO function for Windows 2003 servers. The new CDO function allows you to send web based email from asp scripts using your POP3 email accounts. In reality this is better since a lot of hosting companies’ block some email sources due to spam. The best thing about CDO is that is sends emails from your legit email account, thus clearing up any spam problems and from servers using DHCP instead of static IP Addresses.

As far as setting up CDO on your Windows 2003 server, there is really no setup necessary since it’s installed automatically on 2003 when you install the IIS application. If you do get errors open up IIS and right-click on the site and choose permissions. From there you can allow what needs to be allowed to run your site properly. From there your set and your cart will use CDO to send out the receipts.
