in 2019, I recommend discovering a new series of books to take you on a new adventure.
George R.R. Martin claims the British History of the Wars of the Roses was in inspiration for GOT. Philippa Gregory’s The Cousin’s War Series is based on the power struggle between the York and Lancaster families for the crown of England and was developed into
a mini-series (The White Queen) for STARZ.
Nnedi Okorafor’s series “Who fears death” features a magical woman who reshapes post-apocalyptic Africa. It has been announced
that the books have been optioned for an HBO TV series with George R.R. Martin as executive producer.
“Red Rising” by Pierce Brown is a Sci-fi fantasy that takes place on Mars. The world which is
based on a caste system is as ruthless as Westeros.
Brandon Sanderson creates a world filled with magic and political intrigue. Try his “Mistborn” or “Way of Kings” series. Sanderson is a prolific writer, so you won’t have to wait long for
any future books in his series.
Oldies but goodies:
“Lord of the Rings” by J. R. R Tolkien
“The Sword of Shannara” by Terry Brooks
“Earthsea” by Ursula K. Le Guin
“The Eye of the World” by Robert Jordan
Do you have any other series or books to recommend to “Game of Thrones” fans?
