We hope you are having a wonderful and cool summer!

If it’s becoming harder for you to get from place to place, there are several options in the county that may meet your needs. I’ve reprinted them for your convenience:

~ Call-n-Ride is a county program that offers subsidized taxi rides to low-income seniors. For information call 301-948-5409.

~ Connect-A-Ride is a volunteer program run by the JCA, including escorted transportation for medical appointments. Call JCA at 301-738-3252.

~ JSSA offers escorted transportation to and from medical appointments, this includes helping you from your home to the vehicle, driving you to your appointment, waiting while you have your appointment, and returning you home afterwards. For information, call 301-816-2639.

-Metro Access is a program for people whose physical disabilities make it difficult for them to use ordinary public transportation. For information, call 301-562-5360.

As always, feel free to contact me with any questions. New programs pop up all the time, and I’m happy to share them with you. ~ Ari

“One of the most ravishing musicals you will ever be seduced by.”—The New York Times

In this joyously offbeat story, set in a town that’s way off the beat-en path, a band of musicians arrive lost. Under the spell of the desert sky, and with beautiful music perfuming the air, the band brings the town to life in unexpected and tantalizing ways. Even the briefest visit can stay with you forever. The cast of world-class performers is led by award-winning Israeli actor Sasson Gabay, star of the original film and the Broadway production, and Chilina Kennedy, known best for her historic run as Carole King in Broadway’s Beautiful–The Carole King Musical. With a Tony- and Grammy-winning score that seduces your soul and sweeps you off your feet, and featuring thrillingly talented onstage musicians, The Band’s Visit rejoices in the way music makes us laugh, makes us cry, and ultimately, brings us together.

Farewell to CoA Members:

“As many of you know by now, I have retired. After almost 13 wonderful years of planning

speakers, performers, theatre and museum trips and other programming, I have decided to “hang

up my hat.” I have enjoyed some wonderful adventures with you all. It felt like I had another

family! And I had the best ‘partner’ to do it all with! Thank you Frieda for an amazing ride!”
