Careers advisers are based at both campuses to help you reach your career goals, whether that is to enter full-time employment, update your skills, completely retrain or improve your promotion prospects. We provide one-to-one guidance, a drop-in service and deliver careers-based workshops.
We also offer a Careers Coach tool to help assess your interests - steering you onto the right career path, and courses here to support your career goals. The portal additionally offers an opportunity to build your CV, and view live job vacancies.

HOW TO APPLYAll students applying for places will be guaranteed an interview with an opportunity to discuss the details of courses and about making the right choice. We will be interested in how you see your future and why you would like to attend the College.

� We will contact you within five working days to offer you an interview.
� At the interview you will be able to find out more about our courses and you might take an English and maths initial assessment.
� After the interview we will send you an offer letter.
� If you have an unconditional offer then we will invite you back in to complete your enrolment and pick up your College pass.
� If you have a conditional offer then we will invite you back in once you have received your results or provided evidence of qualification to complete your enrolment and pick up your College pass.
� If we have not offered you a place then our team can provide you with further information, advice and guidance.

THE LEARNING RESOURCE CENTREThe Learning Resources Centre (LRC) offers you a range of timetabled and drop-in services to support your studies.
It provides up-to-date physical and online resources, computers to research and complete your assignments, and a range of digital, academic and employability workshops to help you develop as an independent learner. The LRC is located at the East Ham and Stratford campuses.
ACCESS TO HIGHER EDUCATIONDo you want to study a degree at university next year? The Access to Higher Education Diploma is a one year intensive qualification for students aged over 19, which prepares students for degree level study at university.

About API
A leading provider of apprenticeship standards, Newham College works in partnership with employers such as Santander, Houses of Parliament Estates, Tarmac, Eurostar, NHS, London City Airport, Royal Opera House and Kier.
Our apprenticeships programmes are designed to give apprentices real jobs and industry experience whilst gaining nationally accredited skills and training.

Welcome to Newham College of Further Education. You are joining a college of vocational and academic excellence.
The Government has made it a requirement for colleges across the UK to collect more fees from learners, meaning some courses which were previously free are now not free. We are doing our best to ensure that the increase in fees to you as an individual is kept to a minimum. We are also doing our best to help you to pay your fees in a more flexible manner. If you are aged 16-18 courses are still free for you. If you are aged over 18 then you may be eligible for funding to pay your fees and other course-related costs.

HELP WITH FEES AND FINANCIAL SUPPORT
If you do have to pay tuition fees or accreditation fees then a full or partial payment will be needed before your place on the course is confirmed. However, you may be able to get help with some of your costs through the Learner Support Fund. See the next page more information.
ADVANCED LEARNING LOANS
Financial help may be available for applicants aged 19 plus that enrol to study at Level 3 or Level 4. Advanced Learning Loans have been created to help you pay for the tuition fees that many students must pay at colleges and training organisations all over the country. It is easy to apply; your household income is not taken into account and there are no credit checks or upfront payments. You will not have to pay anything back until your income is over £21,000 a year!
HOW DO I PAY?
There are two ways to pay your fees:
Recurring payment plan
Your fees will be spread evenly into equal amounts over the duration of your course and this will be directly debited from your account each month. You can choose which date you would like to be debited. RCP approval subject to course/duration & eligibility.
Online store
Visit store.newham.ac.uk online to pay your tuition fees.
28 DAY RULE
Students are liable to pay the full tuition fee for their course once they have attended for at least 28 days from their course start date.

LEARNER SUPPORT FUNDS
If you are aged 19 or over you could receive a bursary or a learner support grant to help you with your study costs, including stationery, equipment or travel. CARE TO LEARN
The Care to Learn scheme can help with childcare costs while you study. You must be aged under 20 at the start of your course. Speak to a member of staff from student services at the One Stop Shop to find out if you are eligible for support, or contact the Student Bursary Support Service if you need advice or help.

ADVANCED LEARNING LOAN AND BURSARY
If you have successfully applied for an Advanced Learning Loan then you may also be eligible for further financial support through the Advanced Learning Loan Bursary. To find out if you are able to apply for support, speak to a member of staff from Registration.
HIGHER EDUCATION MAINTENANCE LOAN
If you are a full-time student in higher education, you can apply for a Maintenance Loan.
If you are a part-time student in higher education, you can apply for a Maintenance Loan if your course has a ‘course intensity’ of 25% or more.
The Maintenance Loan is available to help with your living costs such as rent, food, books, travel and other expenses, while you are studying.
The amount you can get depends on where you live, where you study and your household income - (and depends on your course intensity if part-time).
