PERSONAL PROJECT FOCUS

The Rockpool Boathouse inspired by Tadao Ando is my 2nd Year Architectural Stu-dio project with water as the main theme. The main ideas and concept behind the final outcome was based on Ando’s principle formal design rules. With water and light as key aspects of the concept which looks at integrating human spaces and the living environment to create new experiential and redefined spaces. The journey created would lead the visitors through different unique areas bounded by natural elements and Ando ‘s principle material use of concrete. Importantly the transition of spaces in design can create a more idealistic approach toward architectural design.

RELATABLE IDENTITIES

FUNDEMENTALS STATE OF THE ART PROJECTS

Airport architecture has taken off to new heights, they represent one of the most revolutionary forms of architecture as an emblem of national pride. Acting as international gateways they represent the first and last im-pressions of a country. They reflect cultural identity and to residents these iconic structures are unconscious associations of collective identities. Changi Terminal 3, designed by Woodhead Architects in collaboration with ARUP has been intentionally claimed for its state of the art roof and sublime interior qualities. It is the first of its kind, designed parametrically, the se-ries of components that make up the roof is mechanically programmed to filter and manage optimal levels of light within the interior. 919 skylights allow light to penetrate the concourse, not only providing light and ambi-ence, but mood, emotion and experience. It creates an experience that relates to identity. Architecture is more than just a building it encompasses a much broader context. It is an influential force that can govern the way in which we perceive things. This adds further to the architectural discourse.

“ THE MOST FUNDEMENTAL CHALLENGE FOR AN ARCHITECT WHEN DESIGNING AN AIRPORT IS TO EVOKE A SENSE OF PLACE AND TRANSLATE VAST SPACES INTO RELATABLE IDENTITIES”

TEA ROOM - EXHIBITION - TAKASHI SUGIMOTO

Takashi Sugimoto, founder and President of SUPERPOTATO, is an enigmatic designer and architect. His designs are world re-nowned and in particular one of his exhibition installments named the Tea room. this small enclosure with its boundaries limited by precise water droplets that combines a timeless tradition in a sa-cred space, evoking a great sense of relation and experience. This broadens our understanding of architecture and what for-mal relationships and systems that are associated with it. Architec-ture is an art, its symbolic and representational and experiential.
