I maintain and build a good relationship with our vendors and suppliers in a professional approach and manner.

External feeder servicesIn the present role, for logistical reasons, I am dealing mainly with Xpress feeders and CFS as our 3rd party feeder operators due to their fleet size. I have utilized SIMATECH shipping on a spot basis.I negotiate the best rate basis on economy of scale.

Strategic Recommendations Upon every port and terminal visit, I usually write a minimum of 20 page report with recommendations and suggestions for service optimization, reducing operating cost and improving productivityUpon discussion with the higher management and my team, we execute our recommendations in a transparent manner.

Operating cost As part of my KPI, an annual budget is drafted basis on the volumes and fleet size. Up to today, most of the goals in the KPI are met unless of a port strike or in particular bad weather causing vessel delays and port closure.Making sure proper stowage planning taking into account of evenly distributed crane split factor and minimized restows must be assessed for optimized voyage performance.

Chartering and sale of tonnageI deal with the chartering department on proper vessel selection basis on the trade need, consumption, utilization factor and vessel safety condition. I also attend and speak in conferences relating to maritime technology, maritime safety, and port operations.

In a nutshell, my core value to the organization will be my contribution in reducing the Fleet operating budget, vessel voyage cost, efficiency, safe port operations (even midstream vessel operations) building bridges with our suppliers and vendors alike and importantly furnish a good and fair management to my direct reports so as to build a productive work force.
