In the past week….• FDA Meeting: APhA and other pharmacy organizations met with FDA on 4/10/20 to discuss drug
shortages, compounding, drug supply chain, fraudulent COVID products, hydroxychloroquine/chloroquine, and new legal authorities for COVID response.
• Pharmacist Safety:• OSHA guidance: APhA reached out to OSHA on 4/1/20 requesting more specific guidance
for pharmacies/pharmacists. On 4/8/20, OSHA issued updated guidance that encompasses pharmacy personnel.
• CDC guidance: APhA has been working with CDC to provide additional pharmacy/pharmacist specific safety measures. Update includes guidance for face coverings for customers, pharmacy personnel, postpone/reschedule preventative services such as adult immunizations, more info on cleaning/disinfecting.
• Pharmacist COVID testing: We are advocating to reduce barriers to implementing HHS issued guidance authorizing licensed pharmacists to order and administer COVID-19 tests, including logistics, payment, billing, and more.
• HEROS Fund: Reached out to Senator Schumer regarding including pharmacists as medical professionals in the legislation addressing hazard pay for essential workers.
