About Address Format

Before a letter or a postcard is mailed, we must address the envelope or the card. Write the full name and the address of the addressee in the middle part

of the envelope or the card. Please note the

order of the address, i.e. “house number

—street name—district—city—state

(province)—zip code—country”, which is

just opposite to the Chinese way.

Sample Reading

The 3 samples are the typical ways of address writing. In Sample 1, the addressee’s official rank is put under the full name, followed by the company name, each in a new line.

Sample 2 is a regular format.

In Sample 3, a third party (Mrs. Olga E. Cintron) is needed to pass the letter on to its addressee (Mr. Matthew Fox). The third party’s name (with C/o in front of it) is put under the addressee.
